Thanks KJ, It looks good, and I really just want it to be functional. I"m not that lazy of an SOB, but with 3 kids, and a wife who had a work trip for a week it's hard to find time to do what i need....LOL
Can't wait to put it to use, NEXT WEEKEND

Well, I found some time this morning to drill a few holes in a perfectly good boat. I only had one casualty with a bolt snapping that I will be in the process of drilling out and replacing which will be my 8th long line rod holder up top, hoping that it's painless.
Thanks for you guys that gave me some input on this, I am glad that I thru bolted this thru the hard top.
Notice to the right there is no rod holder on the end for a long line, but on the left that's what I am going for on the other side. If it's not as functional as I'm hoping I will move it and utilize it just the same as the other 7 for rod storage

:thumb:Very nice!

MOOD had a great segment featuring "The Sportsman" who runs out of Pentwater.....

Eric.....do you have reservations about running short copper instead of lead in the fall? I bought a bulk spool & could rig several shorts targeting dames depths as the 1-5 colors
-
I don't think one has to buy blood run copper when there are several other great products out there- Most days copper far out produces lead core for us- but I run both and pull core only when the fish tell me they prefer copper.
You're probably right, you don't need to buy copper. However, I was running strictly leadcore, and changed up to copper. I was running different lengths spreading the water column with some short copper to long copper, and both were effective. I suppose it comes down to personal preference and being confident and comfortable with your spread, and IME, copper has been very productive on my boat. Someone told me once, that a fishermans biggest adversity to overcome was change. Just like anyone else on this site, I read a lot of reports, I talk with a lot of other fishermen, and take what I can from them, which has lead me to being more productive when I spend time on the water, and I think at the end of the day that's what we're all looking to do.

Blood Run - handles much nicer than anything else I have tried.
Good luck:thumb:
This is the same in my experiences too
-
It gets deeper faster and is no more difficult to run than leadcore.

It's good business

The perch keep finding their way to my table.
Nice job on the fish Frank....don't blame ya on the perch...some good eats there. Keep after em!

:thumb:Sounds like a fun time Don. I did a similar venue on the bay a few years back, and it was a fun time to. And, we got some new tackle out of the deal.
-
Nice job Richard....going to put Lake O' on the bucket list too, you pull a lot of fish, and HAWGS.....
-
There seemed to be a big line of boats stretched from the north to the south, thankfully we were all alone until about the last 1/2 hour. It was a beautiful day out there... We pulled up to the dock, and you were just pulling out in your truck.. Keep after em....they may just not leave the bay.....

Nice job Frank. Heard you on the radio today. We worked for them but finished with some nice fish!

Took FishinMachine2 up on an offer to fish this morning, and I'm glad I was able to get out. Went south to Point Au Gres and deployed lines, consisting of inlines and crawler harnesses 30-50' back. 25-35FOW all alone today, I guess we were a one boat wolf pack . Worked an area and boxed our 10 walleye. We had a lot of short strikes, there and gone walleye today. Kept mixing up blade patterns to see if there was something in particular they were interested in. Mixed veggies was a close 2nd to a purple/white blade that shined today. Some pretty nice fish out there to be had still....Walleye, the other white meat
Thanks Scott!

I think if i do switch i will be switching to a blacks or chaimbrlin release.
That's what I was thinking. I'm not sure about others, but mono is what I use on the riggers...

I don't know about this one. When it comes to this, I would personally feel better about doing it myself, no offense to anyone, but, if something were to break at a connection I would be MAD. If it were something I tied, there is only one person to blame.

thanks for the report, nice job on the fish. Been a few years, but I've always enjoyed the port of Pentwater......nice place to be

Jason, VN. Ya know ya can neva have too many rod holders.
You got that right Frank! With this, it will make for 17 functional rod holders to use to fish, and in total 27 rod holders.....I do have 4 more holders lying around in the garage....maybe I'll find a spot for those too.....
-
Nicely done! We have been talking about jogging the open water of Saginaw bay, looks like we're going to nerd to do it. Hoping it works as good for us as you!
-
That looks great....
What will you be running out if the horizontal holders
I have a triple tree on each side already, which allows me to run 6 inline planer board lines, I will run #7 & #8 off of those 2 that are more horizontal. Nice to have options.

Okay boys..... I finally found a bit of time to do the tweaking I wanted to do to set the rod holders and the mounts for the launcher, it's complete, only one more thing to do and that's to drill 6 holes in the hard top and fasten this to it.
could have gone with 9 rod holders for storage alone, but at this point 7 should do, all while gaining 2 more planer board rod holders with the launcher set up this way.

Nice job on the fish.
And good thinking about the ol' lady, at least now you'll be able to fish another day

Quality over quantity...sounds like some great fish to be had. Thanks for sharing
