I had a brain fart. I was looking at stuff getting it ready for pt. Sanilac in a.m. I have ball bearing swivels on everything except free sliders. I am changing those right now. Thanks guys!!

I have been using duo locks to attach spoons to my rigger rods. Should I be using good ball bearing swivel snaps?
On my free sliders i have duo locks on each end, should I have use snap swivels on either end?
Just making sure I am running everything the right way.
Thanks

Right now I have a 19.5 foot Monark that I love. I have to drive 1.5 hours to get to Huron, or 3ish hours to get to get to Lake Michigan. I am seriously thinking about selling my boat and getting a bigger boat and slipping it somewhere for next season. Then I could just cruise over and save gas and time not trailering everywhere. I would be sleeping on the boat. I am a teacher and don't work in the summers so I have plenty of time to fish, just hate the hassel and money involved in trailering.
1. What could I expect to pay to slip for season?
2. Is there a size of boat that is preferred to slip? I was thinking like a 24 footer.
3. How's the atmosphere at most slips? I would be looking at a fun place with a sense of community and socializing.
Thanks!!

Ive been catching fish in s. Lk. Huron on both mags and regulars. Last week a fish in the cooler spit up baitfish about 2inches long. Gonna try matching the size of bait with my spoons next time out.

Nice pull Bill!
I need to get back over there, but it is pricey pulling the boat 1.5 hours over there. If you ever need a crew get ahold of me.

I think beer helps too. Every beer i drink i pour just a little in the lake for the fish gods. A fews times during slow days it has triggered a few hits right after.

This is my first year salmon/trout fishing on my own boat. I fish Lake Huron. Right now I only have 2 electric big jons and 2 braid dipsy diver rods, so I have a small setup. Wanted to start out small to get comfortable before I started to run a larger spread.
Question 1. I want to add 2 more diver rods. Should I do 2 more braid or wire?
Question 2. I ran free sliders off my riggers for the first time yesterday. Want to make sure I did it right. I set the mainline like I normally do then clipped on the snap swivel with a 6 foot leader and then let it slide down the mainline. Pretty sure I had a few bites on the sliders because the pole tip would shake, but when I grabbed it noone was home.
Question 3. Do Lake huron guys use paddle/sd's and flies or just clean spoons?
I have had a blast learning/fishing the big water so far. Only been skunked once so far in 6 trips. I have learned a boatload from this site. Thanks guys!

That sounds like a lot of fun. Good job!!

If you go to the lake huron fishing report section I left one from yesterday. Not easy fishing, but if you can find the bait, you will find the fish. Good luck!

The 2 middle fish are definitely salmon after looking closer at pics. The meat was 2 diff colors of pink too for the middle ones. Think d-fresh is right. I better look closer at them before chucking in livewell.

The fish were hard to find but after about 5 hours of no hits 6:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m), all heck broke loose. Couldn't get all the rods back in water. Went five for six on nice bows (throwing one spunky one back.) All 6 hits came in about an hour from same general area. 60-80 ft. N or W troll.
Awesome day on the water.
What worked:
blue dolphin took 2
antifreeze took 2
orange chilly willy 1/2

That is a boatload of fish for sure. Great job1

The area and dnr launch are second to none. No idea why more are not taking advantage. I talked to a dnr officer last night for about an hour. He is on some lake trout commitee and said they netted some monster fish up there. The biggest being a 59lb laker.

Ran out to 113 ft this morning and caught a nice king right off bat. Then ran out if gas. Coast gaurd had to rescue us. Boat gauge showed lots of gas, so guess i cant rely on that. Awesome cg crew came from tawas and towed us in 6.2 miles. Good thing they r around, because no boats were around.
Pic of fish will be in gallery tomorrow.
Still goood fishing, r u there??
