  1. It's a decent morning fishery. There's been a few browns taken on the south side of false presque isle the last few years. Spoon colors: orange and chrome. Reef runner 700s in bright colors.
  2. Take the puddle jumper! Stop at either rockport or alpena. Atlantics are around, and so are the browns(for once). If you fish outta the rockport, pull boards with cranks or 2-3 color leads with spoons. Turn north outta the pier heads and fish the shoreline. There's a "trench" thats about 70 yards wide and 300 yards long. 20-25ft and 14-16 on each side. Lots of fish stack up in there this time of year! As far as Alpena goes, theres a few browns at the warm water discharge up the Lafarge channel.
  3. The off shore in the Michigan city area is pretty good all year long. That being said, tons of limits of coho are coming out of Michigan City in tight.
  4. I wanted to give an update on this fish. We finally received the planting info on him. He was planted in 1996 on the 6 fathom reef. We also had another 6lb Lake trout that day, that was also tagged caught in that same area. He was planted in 1995 at Rockport. Fish were different strains of lake trout.
  5. Lots of seismic, and gas/oil drilling being done in michigan also Tons of new jobs in that field! Especially around the Dundee area, and Jackson area. We're doing more and more jobs in Michigan every year! Really helping out some of the local areas in Michigan!
  6. Some of the best downriggers ever made! They may not look the nicest, but definitely are some, if not THE most reliable riggers out there!
  7. Which one? there are a couple in april out of michigan city
  8. Michigan City is an absolutely awesome port to fish out of. The public ramps are awesome! I personally have never used a public fish cleaning station, because of the private ones that are so available. Great friendly group of charter captains in the area. Jerry Ross, captain of the Seeker and owner of Lake Michigan Tackle in Michigan City can help you out with anything you will need to know, just give him a ring! His website can be found online by searching Seeker Fishing Charters Michigan City IN.
  9. checkout thehulltruth.com absolutely all the information you will ever need for boats
  10. Personally i think Cabelas is a horrible store! It's not geared to the state of Michigan at all. I will continue to shop at the two best stores in Michigan, Franks Great Outdoors, and Northwoods wholesale outllet. Both stores have enough stuff to make your head spin, and it's all things that are used constantly in the state of Michigan! Although Cabelas is a blast to walk around, and look at things in!
  11. The 11th annual Floodfest ice fishing tournament took place this Saturday on Fletcher's Floodwaters of Hillman. This year's turnout was slightly down because of the weather forecast, although over 1000 people showed up to fish!(Not all were officially entered in the tournament) Numbers of fish were WAY down. Less than 25 pike were brought in. Unfortunately fishing in general was extremely slow. This year we decided to change our target species(having finished in the top 10 in pike the last 5 years we had fished the tournament) to perch. We struggled most of the day, but did manage to pull a DANDY 13in out! We took first for the tournament by only 1/8in. I am EXTREMELY unhappy with the recent rule changes in the tournament(i had not been in town to fish it since 09). Unfortunately i believe it is a dieing tournament and some major changes need to take place to turn this back into the fair, and fun 3000+ people tournament it used to be, as I will not be entering the tournament again.

  13. I've got the new FishHawk x4 on one boat and a subtroll on the other.. Hands down i prefer the Fish Hawk over the Subtroll. It's just an overall nicer unit. It seems more trustworthy, as well as not having a coated cable.
  14. Lol Frank, Your right, and right now Pike fishing through the ice is absolutely phenomenal.
  15. All of these are from areas around Alpena. All are from this year!
  16. Just a little taste of the good ole Northeast during the off season

    New Ride

Finally got to close the deal on the new ride! She's a 30' Sea Ray weekend. You may recognize her from a post in the classifieds section We had a chance to fish her a few days, and i couldn't be happier! I am totally impressed with the amount of fishing room in the back. To be completely honest, the pictures are very deceiving!
  22. TYPO: 10/21-10/23 Got to fish the new boat for a few days before it got put away. Firstly like to thanks JimBobber, Tangled Mess, and DirtyDog for the help they provided! Friday evening we went out and set up in 130FoW and trolled NW. We never turned around and ended up with a mixed bag. 2 beautiful 10lb kings. 2 decent steelies and a nice Lake trout. All on 2 and 5 color lead. Saturday evening we went out and fished the edge of the dirty water. Lake Trout were absolutely STACKED. We took 12 in about 2 hours. All on silverstreak mini's. Depth didnt matter. We only kept 4 of the lake trout, and decided we had enough of that and headed out deeper. We ended up boating 5 more kings, and 2 steelhead. All very nice fish. Sunday evening JimBobber joined us. I'm not sure what Jimmy had in his pocket... but the dinks sure did seem to like him! We boated over 20 fish that evening, but most all were dinks. Small coho and Kings. Ended up with a couple of nice lake trout, a decent king and a nice steelie. Lot's of action just not much size!!!
  23. Looking for guided duck hunt anywhere in Michigan. Will also consider Ohio, Wisconsin, Illinois, or Pennsylvania. PM info or suggestions!
