  1. last couple of days it has got tougher. We fished out in 240 and came back in and fished 110 yesterday, 5 for 8 all kings. Today[sunday] 5 for 9 . And marked the exact spot of the carferry. Left a few lures and a cannon ball on it. Fish on and thought we were far enough away.

Hot setup today was a wire running 200-225 . did find a temp break around 90 down in 100 fow. My riggers shut down after 8am . Only 1 copper fired today. 400 copper [Glad its on a high speed reel!]

Out in 240 temp break was 85 down.

We really need some west winds!!

  2. no its fresh water livewellon and off i think jim may be right it is pretty crowded under there... jim do youthink i could disconect jt behind the switch? it wont affect anything else will it?

if you get the right lead it shouldn't affect anything else. you have to get just the timer out of the loop. it may take some trial and error , to get the right lead.

  3. Ali if you have a targa check under the dash and make sure no wires are touching where they shouldn't be. its very crowded under there. the control is on the back of the switch. I would check there first.

then check the switch to make sure it has not shorted out. A little water where it doesnt' belong could be the problem . If nothing else pull the fuse for a few days , then try it again , it may be moisture too.

  4. A 124 on a 1.5 setting will go down 1 for every 2 out on wire. might be close to that with braid . The 124 dives more than the 107. I use the 107s early in the year when we might be fishing coho.

We were fishing in 200 feet of water targeting 100 ft . took 215 feet on a #2 setting to reach that on wire.

    The 124s are heaver than 107s .

So it would depend on what you targeted depth would be , but I would go with the 124s myself.

  5. This report is for my wife and the girls she took the charter with , The charter was with Capt Russ Adrenalin .

The count was something like 18 for 23 ? Being it was a mid day charter we had a blast. I was along only because I had to fill in for one of the girls. and to help make sure non of the girls got pulled in Mainly Sarah.:lol: Shes in the first picture.

Thanks Russ the girls all had a good time!

  6. I would tell your boyfriend to get you a 32# 300ft copper setup . Fishes deeper than a full core , tracks better.

By far the hottest rod , and you can check my posts has been my 300 copper (32# Blood Run) It has not let me down this year, every trip its out and produces fish.

Okuma makes a very nice rod to put it on too. paired up with your favorite reel .

A 300 setup of 32 # will fit nicely on a 45 series reel . If you go to 45 # you will have to go to a 55 series.

  7. Make sure your settings are for the correct side. They should pull out to the side you have them set for. Sounds like they are set backwards.

Your farthest back rod should be the inside and the forward rod should be out. I would run the inside on a #1 and the outside on #3. If your outside rod is the same length raise it a little higher than your inside rod. If its longer it can be at the same angle.

I hope that helps. Did you get your trolling valve ?

  8. I think if i do switch i will be switching to a blacks or chaimbrlin release.

if you go that route you may want to run bands from the line to the release. I fished with blacks for 2 seasons and changed to scottys because of shakers and lite hits. With the scottys and a 36 inch lead off the ball I can see if I bump an alewife. By using a band you would be able to see the hits you other wise will miss. I have had 8lb lake trout hit and swim along with the boat. Not tripping off the release. by using a static release like that it masks the hits. this is because of the weight of the ball pulling down.

  9. Well if your talking about making money at it or is it worth having a 250,300,and a 400 reel full of copper. yes . coppers have been the go to rods after sun up for me. The last time I was out the 300 copper shined like the sun, going off so many time it was ridiculous, to the point that I was saying not again.

If your worried about the time to spool it up , it gets faster. Use high speed reels . cant' imagine bringing in a 400 copper on a normal reel. From the picture it looks like you have a nice machine to do it, mine are done either by walking out line to a predetermined length, or using a wheel that measures foot for foot. both are cranked by hand.

  10. Well here is why I asked this here. I am thinking about bring up this subject to the Board , we have one tourney in Milwaukee , and there are others near by . but I don't like traveling to a port the day before for a Captains meeting , and then returning 7-8 hours later to check in to fish. I think its a waste of fuel, I would like to see another tourney in Milwaukee , what kind , format, ect . are all being considered . Its a lot of work But Milwaukee is a big port. I know of smaller ports that have multiple tourneys.

Like Jim said 200 gallons of fuel, that isnt cheep . Weather by boat or tow vehicle. Any suggestions would also be thought through.

    Tight Lines

  11. Same crabface RV didnt get hit this weekend. End of the night and we took it off the downrigger rod and the split ring just breaks in half.

Weird, its about a month old.

Sounds like some bad split rings, I have had michigan stingers with broken hooks . never a bad split ring. Best spoon hooks I have found are on the big lake lures. not sure which hooks he is using but I haven't' even had one come back bent.
