  1. Really sounds like corrosion to me , I would pull your battery connections and clean them really good with a wire brush, I have in the past had a similar problem and turned out to be corrosion I could not see. I could not trim my motor but some of the other things worked fine , cleaned all the connections an deverything was fine even though when looking at them before cleaning they looked good.

If your like most of us we have multiple connections at our batterys ,if you have switches make sure the connections to and from them are clean too.

  2. Kal , all winter the wind will move ice flows in and out of the river, I was back on the Menominee just off the Milwaukee river and with the east wind we had Ice flows coming backwards. With the barges and the power plant it stays open almost all winter there. as for the river mouth it will open and close depending on what direction the wind is blowing and the temps. Even though we had signal digits this week it would have been open except for the east winds.

If we get a warm period and west winds it may be wide open again , jsut watch the weather, just not John Malon as he does not cover the river.

  3. Good info. Any one else notice the runs are earlier and earlier? A couple years ago we caught a nice cooler of matures in the channel on August 26. When I was a wee lad we fished kings in the harbor in late September and it was snowing when the coho ran.

We have picked up dark fish as early as late July , found them at the river mouth in late august, but also had them in the harbor as late as mid November for spawning.

The Smolts are put in the harbor so that is where the run returns to.

This was taken first part of September river mouth 2 years ago.

Fishing will get a little tougher due to stocking reductions , and it will be noticeable more so in the next 2 years. And from what I am hearing on stocking numbers they should stay consistent but may shift the numbers around at different ports.

The DNR is still trying to balance the lake and make things right for all of us. The biggest problem is for them to understand what is out of balance and how to get to balance and keep us all happy at the same time.

  5. It's Nice to be back, Surgery went well Doc gave me the go ahead for fishing so here we are.

Skipped the tourney GLSF hosted it so had to be there. Crabby charters out of Milwaukee won with a 212 points . Nice

    Fishing report

Out with my Son , My wife and one of her friends, what a day!!! Chose to start later and take it slow. After setting lines south of town ran into a bud and followed his suggestion running east west . Wow found a ton of fish. Ran 12 lines out of my 17 foot boat we looked like a porcupine, but it did the trick. all of the 12 rods fired , 2 FF combos ,3 plugs , 7 spoons . Pancake flat morning . First fish a coho off the probe rigger, after that it turned to a blur for the next 2 hours , at one point we cleared 8 rods before being able to reset what was pulled . many doubles that turned to quad's before loosing a couple. The fish were hitting really hard ,and would rip out a ton of line even on the boards , we took fish from 85 feet down up to a 3 color, Didn't matter they were all over the water column. As far as we can figure we went something like 17 for 11 loosing some real pigs right near the boat.

    Tight Lines and great fishing.

  6. Pioneer is correct we have some on this side , as far as bigger fish the DNR says it because we had a few good year classes of alewives .

I have just started fishing again (got the go ahead from the Dr.) All my kings have been over 20lbs , a 36 lb king was caught out of Milwaukee they are running big but we will have to keep an eye on what happens because if according to the way the stocking rules went if the average weight went up is that stocking would increase , only I can't remember how many seasons that would be.

The smaller kings can normally be found out deep near the midlake reefs , along with Coho and Rainbows.

  7. Out with a friend of mine going 20 for 25 this morning. Bite started very slow and took forever to get going, picked away at them for a few hours to get our 4 man limit. Marked fish all day just that in the early hours they all had lock jaw.

After the N E blow it moved the cold water south and scattered the fish . Got to keep looking if your not on them.

    Tight lines

    Try these for weather info

You may want to head out deeper if your not getting bit.

If you go out try starting at 80 and work your way out to 120 . Straight out from the North gap.
