  1. ABSOLUTLY BEAUTIFUL!!! Now thats a fishin Machine! I also have a 2700 Open and LOVE IT!(Though I really want a hardtop for it like you have). That really looks great!
  2. I agree with all the above. I HATE bridge boats, especially for Great Lakes Fishing. There are many complaints i have about them, but the biggest is the "Sail" effect in high winds. The boats get pushed all over the place and can be really fun trying to dock during strong winds! Plus the up and down on the ladder gets old real fast too(My knees hurt just thinking about it again!)! If I was on the Ocean and trying to spot birds and baitfish from a distance....maybe a bridge boat. Otherwise, to hell with them!
  3. Very Nice! We get that a lot when we are fishing real deep. Their air bladder pushes it right out when you bring them up. Heres one from last year
  4. I have it on a few rods Bromley. I dont notice a difference between it and the stuff on my other rods.....except for its easier on the wallet!
  5. Nice Job!! I would love to see a pic of one of the fillets on those fish! What color are they and how do they taste?
  6. I love the Supermans!! Especially in Fairport! I had more fish on Magnums last year by far.(For Kings) Though I also fished spoons a lot less last year because I started using a "Meat" spread quite a bit. 3-5 Meat Rigs with 1 or 2 spoons mixed inbetween. Then my Steelie gear out on the boards. With the "big fish" derbys we fish, I have tried to forget about numbers and concentrate on size! Big Boys LOVE the Meat When targeting strictly Steelies, its all standard Maulers, all the time!
  7. I finished cleaning all my tackle today and I figured I would post a few pics. Since different ports around the Great Lakes have such a difference in what people like to run, especially with spoons, here are the spoons I like to run on Lake Superior and Northern Lake Michigan. These are my Stud Spoons. These 3 pads of spoons get 95% of the water time on my boat. Why I have 4 other tackle boxes full of spoons is beyond me! I think I could actually pick my top 10 and never even need any more. Sometimes having to many choices will just confuse you on the water. Anything Look Familiar??? This is my Lake Trout pad. If I had to, I could get by with 10 Greasy Chicken Wings and catch Lake Trout every day around here. There are always 2 or more in the water behind my boat My Best Salmon Spoons. Same here. Give me 5 "Old Yellers" and 5 "Green Dolphins" and I could get by just fine! And here are my Go-TO Glows. I fish glow spoons all day long. Not just in the morn/eve. My best mid-day set-up for big Kings is 5 Meat Rigs, 2 on wire divers and 3 on riggers, and 1 Mag Moonshine Wonderbread on an SWR just below the deepest Meat Rig, also on a rigger. Here is the same set "after dark"! I figured this may help some guys who were interested what other people run. I am NOT saying these are THE best spoons, I am saying they are MY best spoons. Come on SPRINGTIME!!
  8. If you hook the release right behind the leadcore you are losing 1 color of leadcore right off the bat. You have to put ALL the lead in the water to acheive the proper depth for that legnth. If you hook a 3 color core to a release or board right behind the lead, you just turned it from a 3 color to a 2 color. How you figure by hooking a release right behind the lead avoids tangles, but letting out the proper 30-50 feet after the lead will cause tangles is beyond me? How does this affect getting tangles? You should always have at least 20-30 feet or more of backer out before you clip it to a release/board, unless you intentionally want to have the core run shallower.
  9. Haha....Anytime Mother Nature lets you go! Honestly, the fishing is excellent out there all season....but its a bit warmer in July/August! We had 38 degree surface temps and 25 degree air temps last year in June out there! If I had to pick a week....First week in August:thumb: If anyone is thinking of running out there feel free to give me a call. I can give you some info to help you out and point you in the right direction!
  10. Most of those Stannard Rock fish are caught on 20lb. Braid, 5 feet of 17lb. Floro Leaders, and 3oz. Jigs, all hooked to a 6' spinning rod! Much Fun! The first 30lber in those pics was caught on 14lb. Stren and a $15 rod he bought the day before at ......i swear to god.....Wal-Mart! It took almost an hour to boat that fish. The rod now hangs on the wall...with the fish Light Tackle and big fish is a blast!
  11. It wont be long now Boys!! Summertime is just around the corner!!
  12. Try This.... http://www.slidediver.com/cart/product.php?productid=30&cat=0&bestseller=Y Be careful, Slide Divers are addicting!!....all they do is put fish in the boat!
  13. Very Cool Pics! You would fit in great around here on Lake Superior!!
  14. Check these out..... http://www.greatlakesplaners.com/index.htm Scroll down about 1/3 of the way and look for the "Quad" holders on the right column. These are tough as hell and with the "riser" set up of them it may work for you to get the holders above your gunwales. Plus the way the adjust is very nice. Rember, anything that "Ratchets" is going to wear out. Berts are nice for a while....but after a couple years the teeth go to hell and they get very sloppy and loose. If you fish 6 time a year then no worries, but if you fish a lot you may want to consider other options! I hope that helps!
  15. Great Idea for a Thread! A tribute to my favorite fish in fresh water!! MICHIGAN MADE STEEL....
  16. Ahhhh....Pentwater I love that town! I grew up fishing out of there. We kept out travel trailer in the Mears State Park and the boat was docked in Pentwater lake. My first King ever came off the peir at Pentwater. Many many great memories of that town! I remember Coho Bobs tackle shop and Johnnys Tavern!
  17. March 4 2009.... March 4 2010.... The water should warm up a bit quicker this year!
  18. Stannard Rock Stannard Rock Fairport Fairport Great Morning in Fairport Runnin to the Rock Fairport Money Winner Lake Superior King A storm rollin in...
  19. Try some Blue/Gold! Thats my best spring color by far around here. I like em about 15" behind Red/Orange Mini-Spin Doctors, running 5-15 feet behind the ball on the chute riggers.
  20. http://www.atommiktrollingflies.com/misc.htm Scroll to the bottom of the page. I am not affiliated with them at all. I just really love these weights for how well they perform. I dont think you can buy them coated but I spent 5 bucks on a can of "Rubberized Tool Coating" from Lowes to coat them with and it worked great. This style weight is very popular with the Lake O crowd, especially on the East end where they are always fishing really deep.
  21. Do you really want a ball that tracks straight reguardless of current, and had less blowback than ANY other ball?? Simple as that! Atomic Torpedeos. Top 2 are 13lb. and the bottom 2 are 15.5 lb. With 200' of cable out, they have less blowback than a 12lb. round ball with 125' out, and are completely unaffected by side currents. The 15lb version has less "frontal area" than a 8lb. round ball, and they are very nice on your probe riggers. Once you try this style you'll never run a round ball or pancake again. Just something for you to check out!
  22. Trollmaster Digital here too!! Great reliable unit and a company with excellent customer service!
  23. Myself and dozens of friends have used the EZ Steer set-up. Works Excellent! My main engine was never running when trolling(isnt that the point of a Kicker?) The ez steer works great and if you have any issues or questions, they are great people to talk to and will help you out in any way possible.
  24. Thats the thing to remember about running Copper. Its purely about production(putting fish in the boat). It is NO fun fighting a fish on Copper, especially 300+ legnths of it. If you think leadcore takes away from the fight, copper is 10x worse. Unless I am in a tournament and NEED a fish, the copper never goes in the water. To me it just takes the fun out of it. There are better ways to target those depths.
  25. I agree!! Especially with Flasher/Fly's.
