  1. The pass is $75.00 plus $10 deposit on the card.
  2. We got out before things started building, managed to land on top of fish right away(38 fow). Got 51, they stopped about the same time our passenger decided the three footers were a little too much. Got some fish, got him back in without chum, a good day!
  3. It does not read speed. It came with my new boat last year, I took it off and installed my combo unit, so it has never even been in the water.
  4. The cleaning station was working again last night. (8/13)
  5. Lowrance X96tx 5" grayscale, sonar and temp. (no gps) $85.00
  6. The wife and I have limited twice this week, Tuesday and Friday, in South Haven. 55 fow earlier in the week, 29 yesterday. Mostly decent fish, some sorting.
  7. Another vote for South Haven, down by the dunes. Off the creek can be good, or it can be a goby-fest.
  8. Probably won't do any good for tomorrow, with different weather coming, but limited out for two of us in about two hours, 2:00 to 4:00, 20 fow, off the dunes.
  9. I am putting a windlass on my boat (for all those anchor drops perch fishing, the wife gets tired of pulling it:D) Since there is already wire from the remove trolling motor, I'd like to to use my deepcycle battery to run the windlass, and charge the battery from my alternator. Anybody know anything, brands, prices on battery isolators? Thanks.
  10. If there's a contest anywhere for best picture, your last picture should win it. That is beautiful!
  11. I just bought one last week, set it up with 225 copper, but only fished for a short time Saturday in the bumpy water. The only fish came on a different line, so I can't say a whole lot about it. The knots went through the eyes well, seems like a decent rod.
  12. That was me ahead of you in the channel. We didn't actually go back in, I just wanted more light on those waves before I went out in them. We set up in about 85 fow, went out to 120, decided to fish our way back in. Had a rigger at 65 go, while my buddy is fighting the fish, 10 color strips some line, then the board submerges, comes back to the top next to the fish on the other line. I started reeling on it to keep up, it breaks, goodbye 10 colors, and a church's board. We land the fish, there's an extra line around the hook. Tied back up, got my leadcore back. Turned went back to the waypoint I set when the fish hit, ran down with the waves awhile. Just as I say I don't think we're going to find it, he say's There it is. I guess for the conditions, 1 15# king, and not losing $30 worth of gear is okay by me.
  13. You really had to be right on top of them today. We were down by the first dune, watched one boat catch one after another, nobody else around catching anything. Finally, after about 2 hours of looking, we became "that" boat, caught 40 in about an hour, then they quit, so did we. A lot of decent size, I threw back 3, the wife 1.
  14. As we were coming to the ramp in South Haven on the 4th, a pair of yuppies backed their little SUV down the ramp, took their kayaks off the top, and put them on each side of a dock, taking up 2 ramps, then took their sweet time loading everything in, including their matching pair of ankle-biter dogs, complete with ribbons in their hair. The girl had a look the whole time like she would just love for one of us peasants to say something. Luckily another ramp was open, cause I think my wife was about to throw down on her.
  15. It was probably really only 19, but, hey, I'm a fisherman...
  16. Took a short evening cruise, ended up 3 for 4. Set lines about 7:30 in 100', turned SE, as that was the nicest ride. Angled back to 80', nothing. Turned back out, saw a little twitch in rigger at 65', a shaker 20# laker? Released him, nothing else until just before the sun touched the water. At 100', rigger at 60', moonshine orange flounder, went off, 4# coho. Wire dipsey w/blue SD, Siggs fly, went, fish had a really bad attitude, tried to get to run, all it wanted to do were these really violent head shakes. As I got him close to the boat, looked to be an 8 to 10 king, I must have reeled the swivel into the top eye, and given him some leverage, he straightened the swivel out! Goodbye fish, $25. 60' rigger went soon after this, 5# king. I would have liked to have stayed out for some night fishing, but have an early doctor appt. tomorrow (bogus), but I'm 100% certain he's going to prescribe that I take the rest of the day off and go perch fishing. (excellent!)
  17. Kind of a late report for Friday morning but... One exciting hour at sunrise. Set lines at 65 ft. At 80', rigger at 50' with mod. blue dolphin went twice in a row, as I was getting other lines set. Two 3 or 4 pound kings. Other rigger at 65' went, pulled real hard for a minute, then was just gone. While resetting the rigger, wire dipsey w/ flasher/fly at 120 back went, one of the best fights I've had all year, a 17# king. While resetting the dipsey, 5 color lead/mag lemon ice screams, submarines the board, 12# king. I'm letting this one back out, I say to the wife, all I have to do is get this one back out, I can sit down for the first time in an hour... full core screams, submarines board, another 12# or so king. After taking a breath, I checked the 65' rigger, had a king the same size as the first two, but no release. 6 for 7 in the first hour, burnt gas for another hour with nothing else. Ran in to 50', picked away at perch for a while, 25 decent ones. All in all, a great day.
  18. A nice easy day. Slept in, bought 2 dozen minnows, said we would fish 'til they were gone. Heard rumors earlier in the week of limits in 60 fow, off the first dune, but we didn't see them. There was a serious scum line in that area. Went back to gobie town, managed to bring home 33 nice eaters, nothing huge, between feeding the gobies. Eggs were still pretty tight in the females, hopefully they'll get done soon and move south. A great day, considering we don't usually fish them seriously for another 3-4 weeks.
  19. Set up in 75', north of pier at daylight, then for curiosity sake, zigzagged all the way to 200', never took a hit. Came back to 115, took a decent coho on a dipsey with NBK, 5# king, shaker king on full core with IDR (I don't remember). There were two packs fishing for perch, one north of the creek, one south. Didn't look like much happening in the pack north, didn't go down to the other. Did mark some fish as we went through. North of the creek might be good early like this, but usually is just a good place to catch gobies, in my experience. Kinda funny to see the pack set up there every morning, then start to thin out as people figure out that the bent rod they saw was a gobie. Going to try them tomorrow. (The perch, not the gobies!)
  20. Thanks Mike. I guess you expect these things to happen, just not all in a row. Still, it made things pretty exciting. Sure would have liked to have landed that big one though. When the rod snapped, I started grabbing for the line, expecting that it was still attached, but the rod must have cut it.
  21. Saturday: Fished 85 to 105 fow. We were 10 for 12 at 10:00, the fish shut off for a while, then had a series of drive-bys on 3 and 5 color, so we ended up 11 for about 17 or 18 at the end. Everything caught fish except the one high line. Riggers at 55 and 65 with orange crush and blue dolphin did the most damage. Divers at 150 and 175 with killer dolphin and orange crush. Full, 5 and 3 color, (don't remember what was on them:confused:). Sunday: Same program as Sat., but only two of us. Ended up 7 for ? Had an exciting and a little bit expensive day. Some of the highlights: A fish on the rigger got into the wire. Landed the fish, then I tripped the dipsey while I tried to untangle the slider from the wire, a fish hit while I had it in my hand. (Glad I didn't have the wire around my hand!) Snagged something in 100 ft. with a full core, lost a board. A little later, 55' rigger goes off. Just landing that fish, the 5 color and the 175' dipsey go off. Had the dipsey 50' from the boat, broke off. The wife hands me the 5 color because the fish on it was really acting up. It was a fish that had to be pushing 20#, got it to within a foot or two of the net, the rod snapped and cut the line. So if anyone catches a thirty pounder this fall with a magnum lemon ice in it's mouth, it's mine! While this was happening, the other rigger went off, lost that fish too. Sat. fish were 8 kings, 2 coho, 1 laker Sun. fish were 6 kings, 1 steelhead. All in all, a great weekend of fishing.
  22. Set lines about 3:30 in 85 fow, NW troll. At 100 ft., full core and 5 color both took off. Landed one of the two, 6# king. Stayed on that heading for 45 minutes, out to 125 (where "the word" said the fish were) without another hit. Pulled lines, ran back in to 90, turned back to NW, both riggers, at 55 and 65 went off. Ran in a fairly small circle for a while, from 90 to 105 fow. Every time we turned north, riggers went off. Orange crush, NBK, blue dolphin. I don't think they cared, as long as it was going north. 9 for 12, 7 kings, five to ten pounds, two standard size coho.
  23. Not a lot of help to the guys further away, but if you are close to Kalamazoo, go to Alro steel, and check out their "drops" section. You can get some great deals on aluminum, stainless, etc.
  24. Bought some of my equipment from him. Good experience, took the time to talk to me on the phone. I would definitely buy from him again.
