  1. I started with the offshore boards and being a mostly walleye fisherman went to the walleye boards couldnt get rid of them fast enough hated everything about them back to offshores more than pleased with them! You can run as many boards per side as you have pole holders for brand doesn't matter there!
  2. Man I wish I woulda seen this thread back before labor day we were there also and did pretty well!
  3. I think you could pull a cuda quite easy with the big boards as I did not take mine either of the last two weekends I dont know this for sure and all I tried was the cuda size the first weekend we tried we were fishing 100' down plus no the temp break is only like 30 down so... but I have caught 4 fish on the cuda now with a 25 foot lead j plugs.
  4. Yeah so I didnt see that post before I left the cuda size will not run behing a inline board it sinks it. so then I thought well they are directional grabbed it bent it snapped it right in two so I thought great another great product of canada as if our governer wasnt enough then got another one on just kinda let them sweep out behind the riggers and first fish 17.4 king on the torpedo. sweet! then that night caught a commercial net that was not on the list that I got and was not marked properly.caught the other 2 torpedos in the net along with a downrigger cable and both downrigger rods and my mag wire dipsy all meat rigs and j plugs with 11 inch flasher so there went 180 bucks so went and bought another torpedo and run it the rest of the weekend and ended up catching another king on them so Iwas pleased with them all in all.
  5. thats where I got it before insta launch thats where I will be this weekend so I hope they still have some whole I got strips last time there.
  6. I would like to find some whole herring online but it seems everyone is out knutsons, salmon angler, lake michigan angler any other thoughts?
  7. Yea I will just sling shot the board around it no prob just let outa bunch a line before I kick the board in gear. I was more concerned with how much drag they have but I hear you can bend the fins too now.
  8. I just ordered a couple of the cuda (big size) torpedos anybody try these out yet? The video looks sweet no drag looks like I should be able to run these of inline planerboards and still get 100 foot down. I hope so....
  9. Thats what I was thinking I was 200' out I bought it and about three hours later it took 2 hits on wire. I also had it down on a deep rigger behind a 11" fish catcher and they kept slppin at it.
  10. Ok so I used to salmon fish heavy about ten years ago since then the demise of lake huron has ocurred. Alot has changed in the salmon game since then or maybe it is just from switching sides of the state. I have ran wire before but with the old standard size dipsies now I have mags so was wondering where they are running so I can get closer to my riggers when they start getting hit. I also have never ran herring at all befor wednesday night and that was all that got hit that night no hook ups just hits I have done quite a bit of research online as far as the softball size rotation with the little bend and such I bought big weenie brand meat rigs plan on running them behind matching color spin doctors some off wire and some off downriggers. I bought strips they seem to be to small for the rigs if that possible which is better whole or strips can you even use whole herring or just like whole alewifes? I think I was running my wire dipsies below my downriggers whoops that was a funky lookin school of bait. Oh and I was always told that the old standard dipsies on mono bottomed out at around 40 down is that correct?
  11. well when you say come loose do you mean both releases come off the line and your board is floating behind the boat. we put a speed clip right on the split ring that holds the back release on snap that baby on the line but you need to use speed beads when doing this so the board dont beat the fish off. If you are talking the front realease is breaking loose you need the oranage releases off shore sells or the blak lock on ones they make for super lines http://www.offshoretackle.com/
  12. I have the ez steer also not a bad unit.
  13. Thats a sweet lookin spoon looks kinda like an upside down "Loco".
  14. we run them later on when you start running j plugs but you gotta run em slow
