  1. yep fleas no issue, i had shorts on n black flies were biting.
  2. Fished 8-2pm, 2 for 3, steelie n coho. Worked usual 80-95 fow. Around 1030 got steelie in 95 fow south uphill troll on SB dipsey on 3 out 165ft on 8" white Hoochie Mama w/green fly. 0-1s and dead calm and hot, hot, hot as predicted. Put bimini up around 11. Was working west, downhill, out to 100 fow and guy on radio was going in and said he was 6 for 7 in 115-130fow, straight out from pierheads w/lines down 30-90'. So we headed north n deeper. On our way out to 150 had rip on SB dipsey on 3 out 165 on Capt John King Super Silver Bullet flasher n matching meat rig. But no one home. When pulling lines at 2 working back in and in 125fow started to reel in 300' 30# copper and coho hit it before I could even get the board off, hit Carmel Dolphin. Of about a dozen boats out there and didn't see many nets in water in 80-95fow. About 18 perchers fishing rock pile south of piers, I.e. about a mile south, 1/2 mile out, two boats we talked to on way in had 4 and 5 perch, other had 22. That was fishin about same time we were.
  3. Set lines in 85fow, around 930 the 150' copper goes with double orange crush spoon and then a minute later rigger 85 down goes with green spin n glo behind small chrome/ green dodger, both steelies, lost rigger steelie at the boat. Not sure why the one steelie was on bottom in 85 fow but not complaining. Few minutes later 100' copper goes off with magnum John King Orange Salmon Slammer spoon, another steelie. Had a trip later on rigger meat rig but no one home, worked out to 113fow,then back to 85, pulled lines at 145. 2 for 3.
  4. How deep and where? Thks. Probably doing SH Thursday.
  5. Sea Eagle, My neighbor has done two spring and usually two fall trips in Port Clinton Area, but not as far east as Geneva. He was out near West Sister a few weeks ago and did ok. Since we will be going during the week we'll probably launch out of Sterling State Park, head to Stony Point and work from their toward West Sister in OH waters. Earlier in the season in western basin there are three spots you fish, Stoney, straight out from the Raisen and between Sputnik buoy and West Sister. Good luck on Geneva trip. I'll report about our trip. We have family trip to the UP 7/1 - 7/11 which will keep The Reel Woman out of the water for a few weeks. Hockey Puck on THE REEL WOMAN
  6. Kevin, Nice new boat, thanks for the reports. We'll probably fish GH end of July. Your upgrade sounds like mine. When I retired in Sept 2011, I sold my 17' deep, wide aluminum boat and purchased a 1994 Grady White Adventure 208, with two person cutty, 130HP, 4 stroke Honda, two built-in 115 qt coolers (1 also works as a livewell). No kicker or hardtop with rocket launchers, but bimini. I wanted a hardtop, but couldnt find one. I bought the q You will really enjoy the new watercraft. I am. Dan Hockey Puck on The Reel Woman
  7. Tarrey Good job, u got 1 more than we did. Like I said in my report we thought we still had the skunk in our boat untill we pulled the last line n found a small laker on it. Sure would like to know where all the kings and coho (silvers) are. Erie eyes out of Monroe around 7/15 n maybe week after Grand Haven. Then yearly trip to Manistee/Frankfort in August. Catching in southern ports has been tough. Heard guy talking on radio fishing in New Buffalo n he was only 1 for 2. Jinx was out all over even past 200 fow nothing. Hockey Puck on The Reel Woman.
  8. Date & port fished: St Joe 6/28 Time fished: 745 - 115 Area fished (GPS lat/lons 0ptional): 4 miles south to 2 miles north of pier heads Best depth of water to be over: 90 Most productive troll direction: East Depth of hits: 90' Rigger lead lengths: 15-35' Number of fishermen aboard: 4 Best lures & colors: chartreuse spin n glo with 6" white dodger Surface temp: 58-63 Down temp for hits (if known):49.8 In 105fow put my temp monitor down and warm until around 70' down and below when it was 49. Troll speed:2.5 -3 Number and kind of fish caught: 1 small laker returned to lake Reel commentary: Worked 80-115fow until 10am, no hits. a lot of marks of lakers and bait pods near the bottom from 80-90fow; pulled lines n reset in 125fow out to 154, some decent marks up and down but no hits, moved back into 105 to 90 and couldn't even snag a few greasers we were still marking; we thought we still had the skunk in the boat at 1:15 until we pulled the last line, rigger that was right on the bottom and a small laker was on it, don't know how long he was there. Quite a few boats out there and from what we heard and observed very, very slow. Talked to boat named Jinx who fished out to 180 and then past 200 and nothing. Beautiful day on the lake, nice peaceful 0-1 swells and then around 11 almost glass. Next trip mid July probably for eyes Lac Erie out of Monroe in Ohio waters by West Sister. What kings there were here have moved up north; my b neighbor was out today in Manistee and got 3 decent kings and two throw backs on meat in 160-320fow. 9. Late April in St Joe, CO was out in the big lake checking licenses. First time I've ever been checked in Lac Mich or Erie.
  10. Rooster shooter, nice to talk too. What is name of your boat, Silver ______. I appreciate the on water reports. Most captains are very helpful, but u will get a few that give the coded reports, ie. plan A, setup B, area C, etc. As soon as I get a fish I go on the radio, I want all to catch fish. All my mates have the right attitude, get out on the big lake n have fun with the guys, catching fish is seconday. We'll be out tomorrow, left my boat at Pier 1000 Wed to save gas from Jackson, my middle son Ryan, is at his boat, Dock Holiday, 34' Silverton, at Pier 1000. Yesterdays report from friend Chris Kleva's dad wasnt very good; Meals From Reels, only 3 greasers way up north in 150 fow, he went all the way out to 250. Think we'll setup straight out in 90 n troll NW. Another boat out with us Wed, straight out, reported some cohos, steelies n laker mix there. Of course things change every few minutes. Got some worker bees out with me, I've been retired for 4 yrs, bought the bigger Grady White boat as retirement present to myself. My 17' Alum boat like yours was the Hockey Puck. Do u know Whisker Biscuit out of St Joe? Havent heard him out there in quite a while. Hockey Puck on The Reel Woman.
  11. Tarrey, Thanks. That format was made by Capt John King for his website. I copy that report and paste it here and to fishin buds emails. R U going out Sunday? if so I can call u on 68. Its been a though season so far, had one skunk earlier this yr n thought we'd have another. Too many storms to scatter what fish there are out there, they are scattered looking for bait fish already n then storms scatter them more. We need a bunch of sunny days with westerly winds to set things up.
  12. Time fished: 8:15AM to 1:45PM Area fished (GPS lat/lons 0ptional): Straight out and 4 miles north of pier heads Best depth of water to be over: 90-145 Most productive troll direction: West Depth of hits:100' Rigger lead lengths: 15-25' Number of fishermen aboard:3 Best lures & colors: chartreuse spin n glow and small white dodger Surface temp: 63 Down temp for hits (if known): No thermocline, 50 degrees 75' down to 105'. Troll speed: 2.4 to 2.8 Number and kind of fish caught: 1 6# laker Reel commentary: Too nice on the lake; o-1s ended up dead calm and hot; no wind to push 63 degree air above the water to cool us. Worked 90-110 most of the time, then reset lines later at 120 towards 145. At 1PM picked up laker on port rigger down 100, in 138FOW. There were marks of fish from 70'-bottom in some areas. This is second time this year where we watched the fish hit the rigger on my fish finder; you can see them come up to look and then wham that rigger released. Left my boat on the trailer at Pier 1000, because I'm taking some worker bees out Sunday. Sunday is supposed to be 1-2s, hope it stays that way, that's perfect waves. Saturday is supposed to be lumpy with 2-4s, 2-4s is very fishable but 1-2s don't beat you up as bad. Hope you fathers and grandfathers had a great Fathers Day. "Hockey Puck" ON THE REEL WOMAN Agnello
  13. Kevin, just read one of Keatings stealth articles in this month's addition of Great LAkes Angler Mag. Last Thursday in St Joe around noon it was slow so threw #12 line with spoon 89 down on rigger in 150flow, landed nice 12# Laker, boy that was fun on my walleye rod/reel, got shaker king on same rod..
  14. Bummer. But u spent good time with your dad. Try something stealthily when they won't bite, we were marking fish/bait on bottom in 130-150flow in St Joe last Thursday, things were slow n fish were negative, so on rigger we ran yellow dolphin spoon on 12# line down 89 in 150flow, got 12.4# laker n small king on it. Last Tuesday read article in Great Lakes Magazine about it n running lead core off riggers. Don't have any lead, just copper, so couldn't try it but light line worked. Try it, you never know.
  15. Date & port fished: St Joe 6/11 Time fished: 830 -2PM Area fished (GPS lat/lons 0ptional): A mile to 3 miles north of pier heads Best depth of water to be over: 95-155 Most productive troll direction:n /a Depth of hits: 16, 50, 89 Rigger lead lengths: 30-50' 'Number of fishermen aboard: 2 Best lures & colors: yel/gr (Yl dolphin), same yl/gr/pink/chrome slim spoon, pink/chrome/green flasher (Super B Spin Doctor) w/mirage color fly Surface temp: 59 +/- Down temp for hits (if known): Troll speed: ave around 2.6 or faster Number and kind of fish caught: 5 for 5, 12.4 laker, 11lb steelie, 3 small kings Reel commentary: Got steelie around 1030 on 100' 30# copper, hit it hard and drag went wild, board went under, got board up and off and brought in nice fish, he did not dance on the water, got two king on SB and port dipseys on 3 out 148 and 160' on the other two above spoons. Got slow so we went stealth and put out a 12lb test walleye rod/reel down 89' on rigger in 150fow, laker smacked it hard we took our time to bring it in. When we pulled lines in 148fow there was a small king on same pole. Some sun, cloudy, a few minutes of sprinkles lazy 1s - 1-2s all day. Read about stealth light line in one of my fishing mag this week and it worked. Nice day on Lac Mich
  16. Fished 85-154 fow, 3-3, fished 8am -1:45. Ran 6 lines, 2 Riggs, two dips, high line and copper. Around 830 got shaker coho on yellow/bl dolphin on free slider w/main down 55; nothing going so 11:30 ran out to 125, reset lines and in a few minutes got small king on SB rigger down 55 on Carmel dolphin, few minutes later SB dipsey on 3, 165 out released, small laker on green dolphin. Then things died. Ran out to 154 and trolled back in to 70 before pulling lines. Had 150 30 lb copper out no hits, changed deeper to 300 45lb copper, ditto. High line had fire tiger thin fin, then bk/silver deep junior thunderstick - no hits. 0-6" waves all day. The black flies were the ones really biting, bring your bug juice, also cottonwood seeds were bad, I think they are worse than water fleas. My middle son is having my boat waxed at his marina in St Joe, should be done Monday.
  17. Tough fishing today, got skunked, 0 for 1, lost small king or coho at the boat, hit yl/Pk/or/silv slim spoon on dipsey at 3 out 127'. 2-4s out of SW. Not many marks or boats out.
  18. Went 4 for 6, 3 Lakers, 1 Cojack, Cojack on bk/chrome deep Jr thunderstick stick in 120fow, laker on Capt John King frog glow spoon on rigger 28 down in 44fow, same spoon 78 down in 85 fow, laker on DW slim spoon silv/gr/yl/pink on dipsey out 122 on 3. Had rip on Disney n rigger release with no one home. Another boat 7 Lakers, Small king, decent size Coho. Where are all the silvers??????.
  19. Glad I stuck with St Joe today, 4 for 6, 3 Lakers, 1 Coho Jack. Another boat 7 Lakers, 1 good size Coho n 1 small king.
  20. So I assume the bridge constructioty is complete and you can get under it from the city launch.
  21. Got 4 Coho Jacks, all south of pier in 39 to 67FOW, 2 on Dipsey on 3 out 50' on slvr/yl/pink thin Dreamweaver spoon, 1 on red w/bk stripes Fire Tiger Thin Fin on in line board 60' back and 1 on rigger 20' down on new John King Salmon Spoon, Glow Frog. Heard on radio one guy had two Coho Jacks and one a Jack n a king, he got king in 25 FOW. Great day on the l lake, nice 1 footers. Lot of marks in dirty water south by Chalets but no hits, got hits in cleaner water out a little farther.
