FishTack
Fished Manistee Thur nite: hordes of bait and a quite a few hooks. Spent last 3 hours of daylight between the 9's and the 12's. 40'-160'. Not a rip. Fri morn: too foggy for me to run so we hit the pierheads 1 for 1. 12lber on a Jplug 50' back, 25' down on a slide diver just inside the south pier. Got back to the 11-12's about 10am...still lots of bait in 85-90' but very few hooks. Walked the piers Sat/Sun with the kids (while everyone else fished the calm water! ) and saw alot of alewives. Biggest was 4". Lots of small ones...
bluedevil
Sounds just like my trip on 5/27. We also worked the 9 and 10's area between 60 to 90 fow and marked a crap load of bait and fish but we could not get them to bite.
GLF
Sounds like the fish have a smorgashborg of baitfish and are not hungry. I have a feeling next time you will haul them in.
CaptLevi
Well let's hope that the years observation of baitfish is here to stay. Get those salmon fat and sassy!
FishTack
I didn't clean the fish we caught but a buddy that cleaned a couple said his fish were stuffed with all sorts of bait including smelt, small and large alewives, and shiners!
