Killin' It

I heard a rumor that some fish are starting to show up at Grand Haven.

A couple friends hit a few steel in the past few days as well as seen a nice silver king get landed.

Fished 65-130 mostly

2-3

both shakers

2 hits on a 10" SD blue/chrome W/ Big weenie Bush lite fly

One on a rigger 95 down in 100 FOW (fish landed)

130 back on a braid diver set to 2 in 90 FOW(fish lost)

Double Trouble moonshine 88 down in 114 FOW.

Lots of nasty current but did find some cold water south of Holland with some big schools of bait as we were pulling lines.

My knifes always travel in the trunk of the car or in the back of the truck.

When they are in the boat they are in front of the cooler in the storage area. When approched by any CO/Officer I let them know what and were they are located.

I would rather them know then to for them to have to find out.

heck I had a good time anyway...

Wife let me get a new rigger rod and a new diver rod today;)

The fishing is what makes me happy the catching is just the added bonus.

Took a quick trip tonight as the lake seemed to lay down for a bit.

Fished for around 3 hours before the waves got to big for the little boat.

0-0

Only thing to talk about today was the fact that the rigger tip snapped while it was in the release.... interesting noise that was... got all the gear back too;)

worked 85-100 range and marked alot just no takers

A nice calm day on the lake with a box of doughnuts can not be beat!

Does any of the fake stuff you soak in hering oil work??

I saw the dodger picture and that is got me thinking. I just did not know what kind of effect that SD would have on the spoon.

Being new to fishing kings I do not have alot of gear on the new boat so I did not want to loose/ tangle a bunch up trying something, when I could just ask:)

Would it work... ???

I am sure someone has tried it....

All fish came between 50-75 down in 120-130 FOW

What worked

Moody Blue MS on the full core took two fish 14# king 8# king

What should have worked (fish lost)

MS Founder pounder 45 down on a rigger

SD mixed Veggie w/ green fly 2 slams no fish

We ran south

75-85.... Could not troll in a straight line because of waves.

I need a new boom wheel assembly for my rigger, does anyone know who might carry one, I would like to get it fixed ASAP they are made of of plastic and my current one is damaged and it jumps off the wheel.

Fished for 45 minutes this morning.

5-7 before the lake kicked us off.

What worked

crome/glow spinnie green glow fly 110 on braid diver took a laker

White/glow spinnie blue fly 115 on braid diver took 2 rips a laker

Full core bloody nose blue glow mag 3 rips 3 fish all kings.

Rigger 59 down "my girlfriend spoon" White with pink dots took a hit on the rigger when we had our hands full with a double and I never saw it go.

Wish we could have stayed out, but the the lady of the lake did not want to give up any more of her bounty.

Yeah I overshot the fish this morning, If I go out sat. going to start in close.

Got a late start this morning because of working late last night.

Got on the big pond at 6:30

2-2 for the day.

And then I was bored...

Finally caught another fish when we went to change lures- must have been draggin' that laker around for a while on the full core, the board never moved.

Great morning on the water, should have got out sooner.

We also did our best north, but I was foolish and stayed on a S troll because we picked up the 3 fish right away on that S troll. Live and learn.

Boat ran well, Trying a buddies kicker 6 horse, just trying to get it dialed in before I buy it. The only problem I had with the boat tonight was getting the kicker dialed into 2.4 or so. it was either 2.0 or 2.7 so I stuck with 2.0 because we were picking up fish.

I had the big motor looked at and the trim issue fixed. Pins cleaned and some other small stuff done.

Aside from a 11 inch paddle getting all tangled up on itself it was a fairly relaxing night.
