  1. Anyone do it in SW michigan....

    Anyone do any good..

I am thinking of giving it a try. I have not done it since high school and I fished the same spot for years as I could sit in the cabin and watch the tip ups.

So I have no real experance on doing it "for real"

What lakes within a hour of holland are better then others.

  2. Being our resident Surf/pier guy... I will share everything I know... I am still learning alot about the river.

The only question you can not ask is "Can I take your wife out to dinner?"

    NEVER ASK THAT QUESTION...

    JUST DO IT...

    Then I can go fishing:)

I am new to the boat game too and filled with lots of questions... ASK away.. everyone here has always been a good help.

  3. Nick

I used the DB on the small boat this year and I LOVE THEM!!

I run 2 riggers 2 divers and 4 or six core rods

One side gets a mono rod with a steelie bait, a full core and a full core with a 4 or 6 oz dive bomb

the other side gets a 3 color 5 color and 10 color with a 3 oz dive bomb

Riggers get a Moonshine founder pounder and a spinnie

    Divers get spinnies.

Does anyone run spinnies on the core rods. lets say a 10 color with a dive bomb?

I am soooo exited for nest summer.

  4. The question is what do you want to do the most.

    For surf fishing (for bait)

I use 12' Whoopin sticks from cabalas. For the price point of 24 dollars they can not be beat. Match it with some decent reels that hold a fair amount of line.

    For casting in the surf

I use 8'6 Gander steelhead rod with a Okuma reel.

    River float rod

That is truly up to you. I have a 10' south bend ultra light that I love.

All the set ups I run cost under 100 dollars each. The rod does not make the fisherman....

  5. I am going to pack the boat up and put it away this weekend.

I found some heated storage down the road from my house at a decent price and she will be the first boat in line on the way out.

Since the storage area is kept above freezing what do I need to do to keep the boat and motor in good condition till spring. Do I still need to get her winterized since she is going to be in heated storage?

    Dave
