Pick me out a graph and why you chose that graph.
I am very unfamiliar with all the bells and whistles.
Can they pick up the thermocline?
-
So....
Anyone marking bait this early???
We went over a pile of something today N of PS that lit up the graph for the bottom 4 feet. Marked it on the GPS and came back through and it was gone.

SH...
PS = Port Sheldon
The sandbars are just that. The beach slopes down at an angle and the waves dig troughs between the 1st and 2nd sandbar. I spend alot of my spring fishing the first sandbar as you can reach it with spawn surf fishing.
Today was no differnt. We sent the boards as far up to shore as 20-30 yards off the water line and worked in and out of the sandbars.
Zig sag pattern, we never fished water deeper then 10 FOW.
We fished N of the piers all morning.

So.... since my boat is in the shop... I fished with my friend on his 14 foot tin can out of PS this morning. Being that I am not much of a morning person we agreed to meet at 8 am and head to the launch (10 minutes down the road).
After breaking skim ice around the launch and letting the old Merc warm up we got underway.
We set up in front of PS pier and made our way into the skinny water. 4 boards were set, and the motor was trolled down to 1.9. We worked our way along the sandbars with not much going until we made it to the stacks.
Amazingly enough we had a rip on a silver and Orage J 9, but no one was home. It is AMAZING how fish can attack the bait, roll, Jerk the board back, and still miss 2 treble hooks.
Another hour of trolling nothing was going so I started changing out the natural colors to brights.
10 minutes later, a Hen steelie smacked the J9 firetiger on the inside board (35 feet off the board) A nice fight that lead a fish in the net.
We trolled for another 1.5 hours in and out of the sandbars...
No dice!!
Nice morning to be out.

Fished PS past the bubbler and back twice on a friends small boat.
0-2 both on brads mini cut plug with tuna. Wonderbead color.
Just came unbuttoned both times.... New owner hooks and maybe the am will do us better!
Trolling speed was 2.5-2.7 going into the wind
We fished the second sandbar.
I can't wait to have my boat back!!

I love the USA more than many of the younger generation, but if this guy does not get his citizenship, I may have just lost hope!!

I hope they have it done by next week friday.
I am taking the entire day off and I am going to troll all morning... come home eat lunch and then go back out...
Now I just need the weather god to play along.

When I get hte boat back I am going to mark new way points in the lake to make sure that this does not happen again.
Jimmy, I am having the entire motor rebuilt. Everything in the top of the motor is going to be brand new.
Hopefully I can have it out next weekend.

Jimmy,
This was the first time I ever had that big of issue... I just got to far to the north side when leaving the launch.
Are there any other major sandbars that were not out there last summer
-
yeah... I might just have to take a day off next week and go fishing
-
Insurance called...
Everything is going to be covered and I should have the boat back next week.
-
Water pump blew
Oil pump blew
Carbs... blasted
prop gone
Some more to list, but cant remember-
Hull of the boat was fine, tried to use the kicker to get off the sandbars and out to big water.
We shall see if it is a total loss Tuesday morning.
On the plus side the Lower unit looks good though....
She was running like a champ, and a random sandbar got the best of me.
I may or may not have cut the corner a bit to close on the north side of Mac.
10 foot
10 foot

Trying to figure out if I can afford to fix it or give it up:(
-
4300 in damage
Waiting on the insurance to see if they will cover any....
-
I hope to be back up and going next weekend. I put a few hours in fixing the wench this afternoon.
I find out in the morning when I can drop the boat off.
-
SJK were did you bring your boat too?
-
Never wet a line....
Buddy was driving the boat and put us up on a sandbar in lake Mac
Spend the next 2 hours getting myself off the sandbar with the kindness of a stranger:)
Sheered a bolt on the trailer
Wench busted
Big motor needs some work and is going in Monday,
Ran fine now it wont start and plugs are dirty as hell (changed them before we went out
new kicker by the end of the work week.
Hmmmmm
All in all could have been better, but next trip can't get any worse.

Jimmy, looks like the docks are in at dutton too....water is low, but doable
-
I did not think about that Ken.
Hmmm overflow, or Kollens park, something
Maybe do something every event, and make it more of a family event?
-
Hey all,
I have tossing the idea round in my head for a bit.
I think we should have a BBQ the weekend of the first event of the WMFL.
Everyone bring something, share some beers, whatever.
Anyone interested?
The wife said we could do it at my house if we wanted.
