  1. Anyone use them?

    What do you use?

Since I rock out a small boat and the cooler is way at the front, I have taken the liberty of beating the crap outta the fish before them come out of the net. They are much less livley after a few cracks of my D town tigers mini bat.

I have been looking for an older mini metal baseball bat from when I weas a kid. I have yet to find one.

  2. I have an older 18' side console Lowe that I love. She has a 70 horse and a 9.9 for trolling.

    The good:

    Fits 3-4 people

Sips gas (Less then 18 dollars a trip depending on how far I go out)

    Easy to trailer

I can take her on smaller lakes

GREAT for fishing in close in the spring

    The Bad:

I fish in nothing over 3 foot waves!!! You get thrown around a lot. Call me a sissy if you will. but I am not going to take my own life in my hands by fishing on a marginal day. We have plenty of nice days to fish and that is good enough for me

    Tight fit with 4 people

    Open bow

Not a huge amount of room to work in the back.

Mounting rod holders is a bit rough

Carpet in the boat gets bloody and I have to steam vac it ever trip or 2

  3. I have had a few people ask what I have been getting my fish on... I call it luck, but I will post it anyway.

I have been doing well, running a 2-3 fish average for a 3 hour trip.

Brad's Cut plugs have been my bread and butter.

Running a six man spread I have been running 1-3 in the spead.

    Starbord side

    5 color Mag spoon

Diver flasher w brads cut plug

rigger gets a spoon or tin can w/ spin glow

    Port side

    Rigger Brads cut plug clean

    Diver with a spoon

8 color Brads cut plug clean

If I am only running 1 cut plug it generally stays on the diver or the rigger.

If I am getting more hits from kings I will leave it on the flasher combo. If I am finding more lakers I will put it down on the bottom on the rigger.

If I am running a tin can spin glow on the opposite rigger the brads cut plug 50-100 feet back on the bottom has been my bread and butter.

Matching the cut plug to the spin glow color seems to be critical.

I am no expert, but this is what has been putting a few fish in my box.

  4. Fished with my Father in law this morning for a quick trip. (3 hours)

With everyone fishing south of Holland, I figured I would take a run north and see what I could find....

Set up in 50 FOW around 7:45 and had my first fish by 8 am.

6-7 pound king on the bottom on a diver

Trolled around for another hour with nothing going other then the diver slammed and released... Stick??? Log??? body??? none the less no one home.

Once again I was pounding the bottom.

2nd fish came about an hour later. 50 down on a rigger in 60 FOW.

    4 pound laker

Traveled almost all the way to PS and didnt mark JACK!!!

Take it for what it is worth... IT IS A WASTE LAND up that way..

All hits came on a N troll

All hits came in the bottom 10 feet

    Cores didnt do jack.

    Pulled lines at 10:30

    Off to work

  5. 5 color and 7 color

    or Blood run copper

You can always add dive bombs to get more depth.

Maybe buy an extra reel or 2 for deeper set ups. You can always change the reel from rod to rod, but you can not change the lenght of the core . (Well you can, but you get the point)

  6. I had the pleasure of fishing with my father in law this morning for his second ever BIG LAKE trip. I worked late last night so we agreed to meet up at 6:30 at his house and make our way to the launch. Needless to say we didnt set lines till 7:30.

Following Dirty Dogs report I headed to 50 FOW south of Holland and started working on getting things set. I no more then had the 5 color out with a Mag super screw and the rigger rod in my hand and the 5 color takes off like a bat out of .... I grab the rod and the fight is on for my FIL. I manage to get the riggers set and a dipsey set while the fish put the wood to him. 10 minutes later a nice 8 pound king is in the net.

We worked our way south in the 40-60 FOW area with no hits. I turned the boat inward and headed back for home and the rigger BLOWS UP....

I tried to hand the rod off and he would not take it, he was to busy drinking coffee so I got to land a fish. a nice 6 pound king on a Flinstone Monica.

2-2 and pulled lines at 10:00

    Good morningon the water.

    What worked

    SS super screw

    Monica

    What didnt work

    Dolphin anything

    Stryker

    OJ/MJ

    Mixed Veggie

    Frozen fruit.

  7. The last 3 trips my cores have been dead!!!

    Anyone else having this issue?

What has everyone been running on the boards.

I have been running everything from 1 color to full cores with differnt colors and sizes of spoons.

Riggers and divers have been my hot ticket.

  8. Quick trip before work today with Ryan and even though it was slow we managed a nice laker. (12 #)

We set up this morning fishing the same program that worked yesterday afternoon when I fish with Holland Pipper. As I was setting lines I turn around to see the rigger popped and hammering. I go to pick it up and the line goes limp. Hit came in 38 FOW on the Stryker spoon 35 Down. After an hour of trolling the dirty water we headed SW looking for some clean water and marks. We had back to back hits on a "Monica" Flinstone spoon on the bottom. One oft those was the Laker that came home with us the other... just another fish that did not want to play along.

Another hour or so later it was time to come in as Ryan works third and had not slept and I needed to get home to take care of the boat.

All in all another great morning on the water.

    What worked

    Monica

    Stryker

    What didnt work

    DBL Orange crush

    Flies and spinnies

    Dolphin of any Kind

    NBK's
