I am going to try and get out in the AM with a carp fishing buddy.
I am in the mood for some lakers/kings and am headed out to that 30/50 FOW to see what I can DRAG up.
Anyone doing any good on divers yet?
If so, what have you been running on them?

So after a long week of getting "stuff" done I managed to get back out on the lake this weekend.
Thursday I boxed a couple fish fishing with Ryan. Nothing to exiting nor did I bring my camera.
Friday the weather man kept me away from the lake, I needed to get stuff done around the house as well.
Saturday- I spent the morning bringing my grandma some lunch and spending some time with her. I made it home at noon to find my wife ready to go fishing. I was not going to question it and I loaded up the boat.
We cleared the peir heads and set lines and trolled the skinny water from the piers to Tunnel Park with nothing going.
I swung the boat out to 20 FOW and started changing lures.
I put a J-7 down on the rigger and got a release less then 10 minutes later. I handed the rod off to my wife Jenn and she caught her first big lake fish from the boat a nice 3 pound brown that had a mouth full of hooks so he went in the box.
I re set the rigger and had it go less then 5 minutes later. No one home even though it doubled over after it release.... OH well
Trolled back to the pier heads and the wife was ready to go as she had stuff to do for Dinner Sunday. I was not going to complain and turned the boat down the channel.
All in all a great way to spend a few hours of the afternoon.

I am going to fish either way. I have 1 hobbie and that is fishing. I will give up eating out, drinking (The one or 2 I have a month) and anything else I have to enjoy time on the water in the boat or on the bank fishing carp in remote places.

Big carp are the same way, they roam around Lake Michigan then come in to spawn and then are never to be seen again till the next year.

I did not fish this morning because of the possible weather. Looking back I could have got out early this morning for a few.
Fished AM and Pm yesterday and got fish both trips.
Went in early last night because my buddie didnt dress his GF warm enough.
Oh well I hope to get out Sat night or Sunday morning.

Does anyone have a list of the Saftey gear needed, if boarded by the USCG. Thier website is being a crab and wont load.
I was going to double check my inventory Sunday and make sure I am up to snuff.

Anyone going out??
If so what port?
I plan on fishing:
Tuesday AM Holland
Thursday AM Holland
Friday AM and PM ????
Saturday AM and PM ????
Sunday AM and PM ????
All of this is weather permiting, but if we can get a few boats together it would be a great time. I have yet to turn the radio on because no other boats have been our or around when I have been fishing. I wonder if it still works lol.
I was also thinking of doing a laker trip one of those days, If we can get a few boats out looking for them, maybe we can get them dialed in??

I went through this last year and I can tell you from experance, go with the 18-19 foot range. If you can afford bigger do so. I love my boat. She has got me home on rough days and she is a dream on nice days. I generally do not fish in waves bigger then 3 feet. If you are getting thrown around it is not fun.
To save on the gas bills I bought a new 4 stroke 9.9 and a 3 hour trip goes through .5 gallons of gas. at 2-2.7 MPH

She ran well, I am going to talk to them, she seems to start a bit rough after I have troleld on the little motor for a few hours....
Aside from that she is finishing up here break in period. The kicker motor gets her oils changed this weekend.
BTW... Mac has another sandbar in the middle of the lake, I will get GPS on it next week. it goes from 17 FOW 3 FOW and 17 FOW.
Does anyone know if they plan on dregging the launch this year... its SHALLOW!

3-4 with some 5 mixed in was choppy on the little boat

I figued I had better take the semi decent weather this morning and take the boat out. I was joined by Hollandpipper and a family friend of his.
After clearning the pier heads we worked our way N past tunnel park with a big 0 for 0. The wind was starting to pick up so we spun the boat around and trolled with the waves back twards the pier.
Got in front of the pier heads and one of the boards took off.
After a great fight we had a 9# king in the boat, but not the box. He made a hot mess of the net, another line and the back of my boat.
Well worth it
Fish came on a j-11 blue and silver rapala.
