  3. Fishing was much better in tight Friday night. Set up around 4:15 in about 50 FOW, promptly took a 5 or 6 lb laker heading north on a Nailer Mixed Veggies spoon. Turned around and headed back south toward the pier. Took a small 8 lb king in 48-50 foot on the troll back, then missed another one right in front of the pier. Continued south for about 1/2 mile with nothing going, so we switched around and headed back north and slid into 40 FOW. Rods lit up around 6:30 right in front. Was a blur for the next 45 min, but took 5 more kings (ranging from 13 - 19.2 lbs) in that time and lost 2 others. Wonderbread Glow butt plug went 2 times, Nailer Mixed Veggies went 2 times. Nailer Mashed Mahi Glow plug went 2 times. Nailer Blue Dolphin 1 time, other hits were on Green Spinny and Green fly. Fish came right off the bottom. Pulled lines and we back at dock by 7:45. Ended up 7 for 11.
  4. Hey, what about me......You never asked me.....You just wanted to see me keep working on the boat, didn't you!
  5. Dan, Congrats on the good finish! I was pulling for you guys to move up on Sunday, but sounds like you got into the "pee wee patch". Either way, good job.
  6. We are still hammering out all of the details on this. Jon's right, this is the first year we're doing this, so there are a lot of things that are still being decided. As things become clear, we'll be sure to be posting them on the site here. Thanks to guys like Jon doing the speaking, it is sure to be well worth the money. There will be a raffel, but as far as I know, we don't plan on giving those tickets away for free, but there will likely be non-raffel giveaways also. We have not determined the cost of the tickets, but I'm sure it won't be too expensive. We're trying to make this all affordable to the "little guy". There are some cool things that will be raffled, so stay tuned.
  7. I was with Charter Lakes, then I moved for the same reason. I've got mine at the insurance shop too. Saved about 200 bucks a year and got more coverage.

  12. Well, the order of the weekend was get em early for us. Saturday we ended up 6 for 14ish. 12 of the hits came before 8:00 AM. J-plugs set back 50 to 100 feet in pretty much any color. Dipsy's dialed #3 back 35-50. Best water was from 25-35 FOW. Pretty much the same program for Sunday, ended up 8 for 18ish. All the fish on Sunday were ready to run, well, except for the Catfish. 6 kings all over 13 LBS and 1 small coho. Again probably 12 of the hits came before 8:00 AM. All the fish were really cranky when they got to the boat, so it made it reel tough on my customers that had never fought Kings on Lake Michigan. Overall, they did a great job landing the ones that we did. It is crazy busy out in front, so make sure you are giving, not taking all the time. Good luck!
  13. Yeah, I'm there. I didn't realize Paul had a waiting list. There isn't all the creature comforts of Harbor Town or Great Lakes, but I like it. It is mostly a fishing marina. There are 3 bathrooms, a spot to clean fish, shorepower for the boat and plenty of cool people to drink a beer with. We'll have at least 5 charters next year, and there are about 75 or so other salmon boats, so if you are willing to share information with everone at the marina, they'll do the same. Unless of cource it is tournament weekend Hopefully we'll see you there next year.
  14. Got set up in 130 FOW about 5:00 PM about 3 miles north. Started marking a ton of fish right away. Couldn't get them to go. Trolled south for a couple of hours without a hit. Took a turn back north, nothing. Took a turn East and about 7:15 the rods started to go. Took 5 hits from then to 7:30.....Game on! Worked that area about a mile north from 130 - 140 until 9:00. Ended the night 9 for 13. Wire dipsy's on 1 1/2 back 225 - 250 were best. One had a pearl J-plug and the other had a white Fishcatcher and blue bubble fly. Also had Blue Sparkle, Blue Dolphin (northport nailer) go on Copper. Pretty much anything Blue was good. Riggers that went were 90 - 117 down. Again it was a white spindoctor and Blue hypnotist fly. Fishing is still a bit spotty, but if you find the hungry ones, the rods will light up. One other note, 3 were landed by my 7 year old and 2 were landed by my cousin's 9 year old.
  15. Well since you put computer in front of it, probably me. If you would have just said Geek, then Mark.
  16. Alex, How do you know Mark? Must be he told you he fished with me earlier this year. As far as running the plugs with long leads, I wouldn't worry about it if you are running 2 riggers. If you are running 4, it might be a bit tight, just make sure you have the deeper riggers set in the middle and you should be fine. My inside riggers are about 5 1/2 feet apart and I ran them both back 80 feet last night with no tangles. I just run one deeper than the other. Make sure you keep the boat fairly straight when you run your riggers down so you don't tangle on the way down.
  17. I pull my plugs from 40 to 80 feet back. Fished again last night inside the arms. Took 3 pretty quick, then the bite turned off for us. Ended up 3 for 6. Highlight of the night was a broken rod as we netted a fish, and catching the north light house when my matey got a bit to close to the end of the breakwall. We didn't land the lighthouse . Water got much warmer than it was on Sunday morning. Sunday morning to the north there was 48 degree water, Monday night it was in the low 60's.
  18. I think the best advise is don't worry about what "people" say. Fish your fish and your program, whatever speed that is and you'll catch more fish. If you try to fish someone else's spread, you're more likely to come back skunked. It is great to get tips from other fishermen, but each boat runs different, and each fishermen has a different program. If slower speed work for you, then fish it that way. That is the advice that was given to me before I became a Captain by another Captain, and it has worked for me.
  19. Fished from 6:00-11:00. Ended up 5 for 18. All the fish were pretty much pigs. Most fish came inside the outer arms. Had at least 8 break off the line due to some rookies on the rods. Wire dipsy back 30, fireline dipsy back 40 tood a few hits. White spinny blue fly on one and black spinny no-see-um fly on the other. The rest of the hits came on riggers with about any J-Plug that I put down. J-plugs with white on them produced the best, but all plugs were good. We picked a couple of fish up to the north in 30-40 foot of water where the water was in the high 40's from the surface to the bottom. 2 color core went once out there and 5 color went twice. Overall, the bite was on, it was just an expensive day loosing all those plugs.
  20. Fishing was terriffic this weekend out of Muskegon. Friday was a bit slow for us, we ended up 7 for 14ish, but Saturday was better. We were 11 for 20 in the morning and back to the dock by 10:20. And we were 8 for 12 Saturday afternoon from 4:00 - 6:30. We fished from 40 - 85 FOW all weekend and didn't have problems finding big schools of bait and lots of cranky kings. Our best setup was a white spinny with fireworks tape and a blue bubble fly behind it. That accounted for 10 or 12 hits between Friday and Saturday, all of them back 150 on #2 dipsy. Other than that, pretty much anything that was in the water was going off. Riggers were good from 40 - 62 down with J-plugs. 7 color core was hot with almost anything on it. Good luck, and get out fishing.
  21. Congrats to all the boats that fished the Muskegon Tourney this weekend. If you were at the weigh in, what a treat. Unfortunately we did not fair as well as we would have liked, but we did OK in terms of our cooler. We ended up 10 for 15 or so on Sunday when it counted. Dipsy's were best for us from 60 to 150 back on wire or fireline. Pretty much any spinny and fly combination worked as long as it had green or blue in it. We fished North of Muskegon in 60 - 130 FOW. Our fished had moved (surprise, surprise) because of the big blow on Saturday, but we still managed to weigh 105 lbs of Salmon. Not a bad cooler when you take into account we had a 3 and 6 pounder in the box of 10. Our biggest fish was almost 15 lbs, with 7 others that were between 10 and 12. Friday was good for us to, again north of Muskegon. Between 6:30 and 7:00 on Friday we took 6 fish. Again, Friday's program was mostly spinnies and flies, but don't be afraid to run out a J-Plug now and again;). We took 6 or 8 hits on them this weekend. Our hottest spoon was Screwball. Best fly combos were silver/green spindoctor with Blue hypnotist fly, silver/Blue spindoctor with blue bubble fly and Mt Dew Spindoctor with packer fly. Fishing is terriffic, get out there and get 'em. Great Job on the 10th place finish to Dan (Lion Den)! You could have told me where the trout were:D
  22. Last I knew there were 3 nets to the north, starting a couple miles north and 9 nets to the south. Keep your eyes open and you'll be fine. Without looking at my GPS I can't be sure, but I think the north sets start in 80 or 90 FOW. Haven't played around any of the south nets this year to get them marked on the GPS.
  23. Fishing was a bit tough for us on Saturday. Got a late start not getting lines set until around 7:45. Ended up 5 for 7. 4 Fish came in around 170-180. 7 color core and 10 color core with primarily Green/silver spoon, modified blue dolphin and coyote. Took a couple of hits 95 down on rigger in same water with a glow lobster spoon. Took one fish on a blue spindoctor and blue bubble fly back 170 on wire 1 1/2 wire dipsy. Marked a ton of fish all day from 90 - 250 foot of water but could not get them to go. Weather was beautiful and the highlight of the trip was a 12 1/2 pound steelhead that took 35 minutes to land. It was the gentleman's first big lake fish:cool:grin:
  24. I don't have a list for you, but now since my cousin (now nicknamed splash) decided to fall off the back of the boat, I just ask them to stay in the boat:D Hopefully someone has one though, it would be helpful.
