  1. Good to hear. I lost a board in almost the same location a few weeks ago. No name or address though. Hard to belive it come unbuttoned. I run double pinch pads on my boards. I would have turned back but had a double going at the time. I think I need to print my info on the rest.
  2. Above the core on the backing. This way you don't affect the rise/fall of the the lead core that makes it so effective. 1 ounce will get you 3-5 feet of depth depending on speed.
  3. Have changed and will continue to change my spoons out to Gammy Siwash hooks. I fished with trebles recently due to rules of the tourney and almost every hook fell out of the fishes mouth when netted. My single hooks usually need to be taken out with pliers. I use a hook file to sharpen any that need it.
  4. Fall. Early enough to water test and have it surveyed if needed. As said most guys will come down on price as not to have to winterize/store.
  5. Tunas Reel Troubles Ludington, MI (231) 843-4557 He worked on some of my reels this spring. Excellent job!
  6. too deep, We usually hunt off the west side of the bay. Marshes around Linwood and Pinconning. We see and hear guys hunting open water out there. I know a lot of guys hunt the east side also. I think if you get out to open water the divers are usually there.
  7. Too deep, Looks like the duck season opener will be Oct. 7 in the South zone. Rumors of the regular goose season starting that weekend also. These are the recommendations from CWAC to the DNR and the feds. Personaly I would like a little later opener but with the freze out last year some poeple are getting all freaked out.
  8. Does anyone know what the name of the mag silver and black spoon with the yellow and green ladder back is? I don't know if I chose the correct one. That spoon had 3 fish on it before 6:30 am off the rigger. Two big fish on that. Landed one 13# lost one bigger at the net and landed another small one. Overall most everything caught fish or had rips.
  9. Caz, Try to get the line out/ depth from the precision trolling big water book. The Luhr-Jensen chart is for mono which has stretch and is a bigger diameter line than the braid. The braid has virtually no stretch which will pull your divers deeper. You will be amazed at how far down you can go on the right setting.
  10. Waterfowler here also. Can't wait till the season starts. Salmon trolling right into waterfowling. Gotta love it!
  11. I'm a builder/remodeler. To bad my busy season come right during trolling season!
  12. Just started putting split rings on all my spoons. I'll see how that works out.
  13. No. It only shows the bottom depth contours and such. It still is helpful if you want to find and area with some good structure. The Coastwatch site is probably the best site to get the surface temps off of. The long. and lat. on there should be able to get you close to where you need to go. Good fishing!
  14. Rich, Latitude # (43*-45*) are ususally put in first and then the Longitude (86* 87*) for L. Michigan. The following should get you into a good site that will give you great lat. and long. for GPS. The screen will come up on Saginaw Bay, just zoom out from there to get over to L. Michigan. http://mapserver.maptech.com/homepage/index.cfm?lat=43.7827128452&lon=-83.8439674386&scale=120000&zoom=50&type=0&icon=0&searchscope=dom&CFID=946063&CFTOKEN=28905893&scriptfile=http://mapserver.maptech.com/homepage/index.cfm&latlontype=DM.MM
  15. The BANK. Ludington and Manistee. The Can Bank. Glen Arbor, Leland Herring Hole. Frankfort Points seem to always be referenced too.
  16. 20# pink Ande for all mono with various # test for other leaders and such. 50# PowerPro green for braid divers. 30# high vis PowerPro for leadcore backer.
  17. I would venture to say a 2-3# King isn't a 2 year old fish, so you can sort out the smaller fish that way. A nice big king caught in 40' of water off a river mouth may not be 4 years old but it will probably run the river to spawn. Lets just call all the big ones spawners.
  18. Penn electrics. 800 series. I like the price I got them for! I think they were way ahead of there time with features. The quality is excellent also. I wish the counter wheels had stamped on numbers. The tape is coming off the ones I have. As said earlier the size of the numbers is great though. I think I would look a Fishlanders when these need replacing.
  19. I usually put out my regular (all mono) rigger rod. It is the quickest and easiest to put out. If I'm fishing with one other I'll set out a deep dipsey while driving and the other works the riggers.
  20. I only use Flurocarbon for trolling fly leaders. Ande at that. I use regular Ande mono (pink) for trolling lines. I used some Berkley Vanish one time as fishing line. Yuck! That was the worst line I have ever used maybe besides Fireline. I spooled up a spinning reel about two weeks ago with some Suffix line. I read all the hype on the package and bought it. Seems like pretty good line. Have not put it to a major test but it does'nt have a bad memory off the spool like most other lines. I like the way the wind it on the spools too. Very neat looking. Good fishing!
  21. 2002 Dodge Quad cab with 5.9L, full towing package. I think I get around 10 mph when I hook the boat on. It's a gas drinker!
  22. McFly

    Survivor

My wife loves that show and has mentioned sending the stuff in. I personaly don't think she would last 3 days. Not being mean but it seems like the first days are the roughest. I think the producers really look for some unique qualities in the contestants they choose.
  23. As a fellow Thompson owner I would like to say Welcome! Good fishing!
  24. Take Six, I personally would trailer up to Charleviox and fish out of there. If you want to stay on East Bay run up toward Elk Rapids are and fish that area. King will start to wander in that time of year. Good fishing!
  25. Caz, Where did you get that high vantage point for the shot of the harbor? Nice pic!
