I agree we need less lakers and more kings, but at this point, as long as they’re stocking fish, and not cutting stocking all together, I’m just gonna fish for what’s biting. Most of the people that are charter fishing are just there to fight the biggest fish they’ve ever fought. I’ve seen dinosaur lake trout put bigger smiles on faces than 2 year old kings. They’re okuma classic Pro GLTs with Okuma Magda dxt 30s. If you don’t feel like going with Russel at anglers ave, fish USA also has pretty competitive prices. Anglers Avenue also has a hot sale tab on their website, and you can find some really good deals on lures once in a while on there as well. Do you have planer boards, or do you need them? If you’re looking for church walleye boards, Franks great outdoors is the cheapest I’ve found them. If you’re looking to buy new rod/reel combos, Russell Gahagan at Anglers Avenue is the guy to talk to. Just got 4 new rigger combos from him for $75 a piece shipped. If you need trees, poor man’s rod trees from mads outdoor products are a really good option for cheap. Basically if you’re trying to save some money, get ahold of me lol. Looking for a little feedback on the new (dxt) magda vs (old) magda. Gonna get 4 new combos for my riggers, and torn between the all plastic dxt or the older dx with the partially metal housing. I’ve fished the older reels, and never had a problem, but just wondering if the newer reels are an improvement, or if its a step back. Blue dolphin, bloody nose, uv veggie. Monkey puke, double orange crush, glow frog, pink panty dropper, wonderbread, green dolphin. Those are a few of my favorite spoons. Get yourself some Luhr jehnson size 0 dodgers, and pulls spin n glows behind them with about a 24 inch leader to the spin n glow. In the spring I like to run shallow diving cranks, jointed or not, either blue, or orange. J plugs I really like a silver with a bloody nose with a rattle, wonderbread, glow plugs, anything purple. I also run a lot of storm thin fins for coho in the spring, and early summer. I prefer the thin fin 6, but the thin fin 8 will catch fish too. It’s very much dependent upon the day, and the light conditions, all that crap lol. But those are a few favorites of mine just to start with, and you’ll find your favorites the more you fish. Gonna be using coldwater 453 reels, so I’ll definitely put backing on so the line counter is more accurate. I didn’t even think about that. I’m hoping when I’m running all 4 dipsys I’ll be in pretty deep water so my inside boards should be fairly wide. I’m sure it’ll be a learning experience lol. Thanks for the tips. Hey everybody. New to running wire dipsys this year, and I’ve got a couple questions. I’ve run braid dipsys for a few years so I have the basics down. Let em creep out under pressure, run a snubber, the whole world. What I’m wondering is does everyone run backing behind their wire, or just straight wire. And how much backing and how much wire? I was thinking about 2-300 ft of braid backing then 500 ft of wire, but looking for opinions. Also, because I’ll still be running braid divers, I plan to run the wires at a 1 or 1.5 and the braids at a 2.5 or 3. Any tips you can give me would be much appreciated.
