  1. Salmon and trout stocking.

I agree we need less lakers and more kings, but at this point, as long as they’re stocking fish, and not cutting stocking all together, I’m just gonna fish for what’s biting. Most of the people that are charter fishing are just there to fight the biggest fish they’ve ever fought. I’ve seen dinosaur lake trout put bigger smiles on faces than 2 year old kings. 2. Best budget rods?

Talk to Russel Gahagan at anglers Avenue. I like okuma classic Pro GLT. They’re about 25-35 bucks, but they have a nice triangular grip above the reel, and really nice line guides. Sent from my iPhone using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App
  3. Large Salmon Catch in Great Lakes

I got my ass kicked on solar eclipse day lol. Luckily I figured out every time I had a shaker on a downrigger and was able to get it off and back in the water before it died. Technically we went 7 for 7, but 3 of em weren’t big enough to make a fish stick. Sent from my iPhone using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App
  4. I'm New Kind of..

[emoji1360] now hopefully they catch as many for you as they do me lol. I hate making suggestions then they don’t work for other people Sent from my iPhone using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App
  5. New Guy

They’re okuma classic Pro GLTs with Okuma Magda dxt 30s. If you don’t feel like going with Russel at anglers ave, fish USA also has pretty competitive prices. Anglers Avenue also has a hot sale tab on their website, and you can find some really good deals on lures once in a while on there as well. Dreamweaver also has an overstock/discontinued tab on their website, I’ve got some good stuff from there for cheap as well. Sent from my iPhone using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App
  6. New Guy

Do you have planer boards, or do you need them? If you’re looking for church walleye boards, Franks great outdoors is the cheapest I’ve found them. If you’re looking to buy new rod/reel combos, Russell Gahagan at Anglers Avenue is the guy to talk to. Just got 4 new rigger combos from him for $75 a piece shipped. If you need trees, poor man’s rod trees from mads outdoor products are a really good option for cheap. Basically if you’re trying to save some money, get ahold of me lol. 10. Magda dxt vs magda vs Magda Dx

Thanks guys. I run cold waters with upgraded drags everywhere else on the boat. Looking to save a couple bucks on the riggers. Looks like I’ll be going with the 30s, just still can’t decide between the old or the new style. Sent from my iPhone using Great Lakes Fisherman
  11. Magda dxt vs magda vs Magda Dx

  14. Looking for a little feedback on the new (dxt) magda vs (old) magda. Gonna get 4 new combos for my riggers, and torn between the all plastic dxt or the older dx with the partially metal housing. I’ve fished the older reels, and never had a problem, but just wondering if the newer reels are an improvement, or if its a step back. Also, for you guys that run them in riggers, do you prefer 20 or 30 series? Sent from my iPhone using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App
  15. I talked to him the other day, he got rid of all his heartland rods at a swap meet, I apologize. Sent from my iPhone using Great Lakes Fisherman
