  1. I copied this from another site.

Department of Natural Resources Director Rebecca Humphries signed fisheries orders that extend the spearing season through the ice for pike and muskellunge in certain waters, extend the whitefish spearing season on the Great Lakes and connecting waters, allow all anglers to use three rods, and establish a two-gallon limit on smelt.

The spearing season for pike and muskie will now run from Dec. 1-March 15, instead of just January and February and the whitefish spearing season will now be open year-round. The new seasons are the result of legislation enabling the DNR to set spearing regulations. These regulations take immediate effect.

Anglers have been allowed to use three rods when fishing for salmon on the Great Lakes for a number of years, but were restricted to two rods elsewhere and when pursuing other species in the Great Lakes. A survey of anglers showed overwhelming public support for three rods. The new regulation, which takes effect April 1, 2009, allows anglers to use three rods on all waters and in pursuit of all species, though the DNR retains the authority to reduce the rule to two rods if necessary.

The two-gallon limit on smelt, which historically have been unregulated, is designed to prevent waste during periods of high abundance and offer some protection to smelt as an important forage and sport species. The limit applies to both dip-net and hook-and-line anglers. This new regulation also takes effect April 1, 2009.

  2. We made it up for one day, (Thursday) High Presser dominated the weather. High presser and Walleye don't mix well. The fish we marked where in 30 fow and tight to the bottom. We ran Bouncers and crawler with no luck. We tried other presentations with out any luck either. We did pick up one 16"walleye well after dark over 12 fow. It's a beautiful area to fish. I took this shot from our resort dock just before breakfast.

  3. I've read a lot of these threads (asking the same question) over the years.

From what I read most like the Depth Rader. I have a Canon, and like Mainiac says they really blow back when deep. The thing I do not like with the canon is you need to remove the battery after every use, also the attachment system is not that great. The light percentage on the Canon is nice, but it only works %20 of the time

  4. Take it from a Carpenter that most any thing will run the Nail Gun, but you will need the volume to run the Spray gun and impact. I would think 30 gallons would be about minimum. I am not a big fan of most Craftsmen stuff, but I do have a Craftsman Compressor that I keep in the garage that seams of descant quality.

  5. If every thing goes well, my uncle and I are going to take a trip up tho the North country in the third week of October. We are thinking of fishing Bay De Noc for a day or two. I have fished it four times with mixed results. Is there any one out there that would like to give me any detailed pointers that may help us?

    Thank You,

    Ken.
