  1. Insta Launch is a good site to camp, I have camped there. Most of the people with larger boats that camp there launch at the City launch near the mouth of the River. Manistee lake has a lot of shallow areas and it's a ways to the river mouth. I'd compare conditions similar to Snug Harbor at Muskegon. Trust me, Launch at the City Launch.:)

    Amen to that.

  2. I just want to thank bolth Bob and Mike For there recipies. I have made bolth now and serve them at Huge wild game dinner every Jan for a school fundraiser and it is one of the favorite dishes out of the 2 to 3 hundred different ones served. I make approx 5 gallons of each and its always goes so fast not everyone gets to try it.

Also want to thank bolth of you for my freedom. I did not serve in the military but I thank god everyday for those of you who did.

  3. All of the inland lake public launches are free. Think of all the money the dnr would make if the bass fisherman(I use to be a diehard bass fisherman;)), and weekend boaters had to purchase a seasonal permit.

Back in the 80s your license fee was raised to cover the cost of maintaining launches. and again the the 90s and again in the the around 2002 2003. but the probem is and I have contacted the parks director for the dnr in Allegan county, is that the Moneys made at one park do not stay with that park to maintain that launch . and for that matter of the moneys that are collected to maintain launches, only a small portion actually goes twords maintaining them the rest is used how the DNR sees fit wich usually means it covers wages for administartion. So we were paying for this in our licenses before they even started to enforce pay launches. They say that is good clean politics.

  4. Your going to want to start deep with the water warming up the fish will be deep. Start with the full cores at least. You can get two cores from cabelas for 17 bucks. Be carefull though its addicting you will start with 2 and end up with 22

well said. I did exactly that once I started fishing core rods about 10 years ago.

  5. 20 to 25'

I would go with full cores. I have bolth and my full core outfish the halfcore 3 to 1. Later on after you start building your arsinal and the budget is not so tight you can make up some half core rigs but for starting out I would definanlty go with full core. you will use these more then halfcore most of the year. Most of the fishing seminars that I have attended have suggested the same thing guys like Dave Engle and Bill Bale Of Best chance 2.

  6. tdr rods are only 30 bucks and come with a warr.

TDR is what I replaced my lost full core with from last weeks trip. I also had to replace the reel. Pyles Porthole in southaven hooked me up with rod and Okuma 45 classic reel and spooled the reel for me with backer and 27lb leadcore for about 120 bucks. Rod was only 30 and im not sure if I will like it as I loved my 9' whuppin sticks, (Cabellas rod) but for 30 bucks if it doesnt work out then im not out much. reports ive read is that guys like them.
