  1. Well it appears the time has come for the walleye here in the Central Basin of Lake Erie to start moving in closer to shore again.

Up till now, we have been having to run out 10-12 miles to locate walleye, tonite I went out, and I found the fish are in 62 fow, instead of 70+

This is a good thing in my book, as now it's only a 5 mile run to get to them versus 10-12 miles a few weeks ago.

Got 5 nice fish, all in the 3-5 pound range.

  2. Sounds like a plan to me, I am open till the 14th, then I have some people coming up from Pittsburgh.

On the 19th, I start my Charter Captain's training, also... Gonna be a busy end of the month, but, I am looking forward to doing some fishing with you again. Hopefully the walleye will move in a little closer by then.

I noted that the surface temp where I was perch fishing has changed a few degree's. Saturday it was 69, and yesterday was down to 65 at the surface.

With the winds we are getting now, and till Thursday, there should be some noticeable changes in the temp.

  3. Well, found some emerald shiners, had to drive into Cleveland @Shine's.

Man is he cheaper than out my way. Here they are charging from 2-2.50 dozen.

Got them @ shine's for 1.35. It's worth the gas to drive there and get them.

Anyhow, went back out again this afternoon, same area, ended up with 60 that we kept, and probably 30 we released.

All in all lot's of good eating gettin put in the freezer for later.

  4. Mentor Lagoon's Mentor, Ohio. August 15, 2007

Got a chance to fish a second day with my son Greg.

Went to a different area looking for fish. Headed out of the lagoons, and followed a WNW course of 300-305 degrees. We traveled that till we got to 68 FOW, set up with Large Dipsey divers 175,150, 135 back on 3 1/2 2 and 1 settings. We ran nothing but, stinger spoons, all in copper. We changed colors every 1/2 hour if they were not producing. Our best were in the ones in the pictures.

The walleye in the 1st pic, did in fact hit Both lures at the same time. The were on Dipsey divers on "0" settings off the back corners of the boat.

Ended the day with 12 walleye and 1 steelie. The walleye in the pic. is 30 inches long and 7.5 #

  5. Don't know where this was filmed, but, for sure this guy was using the bird as a tool to hunt with.

When you first see him the eagle is perched on his left arm, then at the end of the events, you can hear him yelling for the bird to return.

I don't know about you guys, but, this was a little too Staged for my taste's.

  6. Well, after much consideration I finally decided it was time to put some work lights on my boat.

Only problem, it's a soft top model.

Well, after some thought and with the help of a friend ( because I can't bend tubing!) We came up with this for my night time fishing pleasure.

We used 1" stainless tubing, and 2 weather proof work lights (flood lights)
