I plan on going out for the first time this weekend around Mentor. Heard the fish were in around twenty/thirty feet. Is this the area you caught your Eyes in

Yes sir, about a mile East of the Lagoons, there is one of those White/Orange markers, for the sail boat races I think, it's in 25 fow, I have been setting up there and trolling North into 35-38 fow, then turning and trolling back again.

East-west didn't produce any fish but the N-S and S-N did very well.

Run your baits in the top 15 fow.

Toxic, you can also try these setting with your divers:

0 dipsy - 1 setting - 50 back

0 dipsy - 2 setting - 60 back

0 dipsy - 3 setting - 70 back

1 dipsy - 3 1/2 setting - 50 back

Harnesses - watermelon w/ pink beads, confusion with pink beads

Spoons - chicken wing, blonde chick, and I had really goodluck with the Black blades on my harness's.

He can always just put a weight on the leader in front of the harness, and reach them with no trouble. About 1 1/2 ounces should do the trick.

smaller dipsey divers will work also. Just need to keep them in the top 15 feet of water.

Oh yeah almost forgot, we took some using a 3 way with a crankbait on the bottom, and a harness or spoon above it.

Started in 25 fow and work to 35 then back again.

40 jets back 40' 30 jets back 55' and riggers back 30' and down 15'

All fish were taken up high in the water column.

Got a chance to get out this morning.

Heard nothing on the radio, except "we can't get any walleye"

I don't know what they were doing wrong, we had a blast.

If you speaking of just the cheeks,

Boil them for a few minutes in water, then dip them in melted butter.... Just like Lobster

I finally got to get out after some (dinner) Walleyes.

Went out yesterday afternoon for a couple hours.

Managed to pull 4 nice eating size fish, smallest at 18" and the best at 25"

Even got a bonus perch, and to my surprise a channel cat while trolling !

The eyes were taken on worm harness's and 20 jets on the big boards.

Seemed like any thing with silver is all they wanted.

Was not real fast action, but slow and steady.

I'm just happy I was able to get enough for a fish fry here tonite.

Besides the fact it's NOT in the water?

I have a bunch of those "little" ones, gonna try them out this weekend also

I am changing my tactics this year.

Gonna keep chasing the walleye till it's deer season.

Our season here opens early, so I will try for a deer the first few days, then back to fishing.

Only reason I am getting them now, is the Walleye haven't moved this far East in any great numbers YET ! lol

And , when they are in this close, it's hard to pass them up. Many of them last night were in the 12-14 inch range.

Went out of the lagoons again last night, fished 25 fow, and got some real nice perch with a few silver bass added into the mix.

Hear a few guys on the radio, said they were getting walleye's off the towers in East Lake.

I'll try to get out again in a day or two, big thunderstorms today.

Yes Sir, they sure are. And oh what a stinky mess they are ! lol

And zebra muscles, Gobies, etc...

Went back out again tonite, well more like this evening.

Went to 26 fow, where I marked some high spots, and the Jumbo Perch were there! ! ! The average size was 12 inches.

My father-in-law, and my son joined me tonite in the rain.

We left the dock at 5:45pm, and were escorted out of the harbor by the Coast guard, but they went East, and we were headed West.

We got set up at about 6pm, and by 8:30pm we had 90 perch in the box !

The bilge pump never really had a chance to stop it was raining that hard ! ! !

We were soaked to the skin, and you should have seen there faces light up when I told them I had dry warm coats for all of us ! ! !

All in all we had a great time, and Thanks to Mother Nature, NO lightning.

Well, I have made my way back onto the water for another year of fishing fun.

Seems the walleye are still hanging out over Cleveland way, along the "Gold Coast" and as far East as East Lake.

They haven't made this far East as of yet, a few more of these warm days should do it.

On a positive note, the perch are here, and they are HUNGRY ! ! !

I have been finding the in 36-40 fow.

Got 60 the day before yesterday, and were ALL males. Took another 45 last evening before dark.

They are ranging in size from 8-15 inches.

I was at the super market this afternoon, and they have Lake Erie yellow perch fillets, from Canada, for $14.95 per pound.

I will keep on getting mine myself.

I fished here in Mentor, Ohio, 20 miles East of Cleveland for four (4) hrs. yesterday, ended the day with one (1) hook up that came undone, and one small silver bass.

Fished from 15 -35 fow. Guess it;s a might too early here yet. Will get out again mid week.

And don't forget, instead of spending big money on those expensive line releases, you can buy 1 dozen of the plastic shower curtain rings for about $1.25, at the dollar stores.

Just snap it on the tow line, and attach the line with a rubber band.

Sure beats spending $15-20 per 4 pack of expensive releases.

Definitely sounds like the coil is the culprit here.

Glad to hear your wife was NOT in the Jeep at the time.

That happens sometimes, you get a driver that is not used to hauling "oversized" and they forget to compensate for the overhanging equipment.
