  1. OK i have a problem i fished the dream weaver charity event this past weekend and even though my fishing was less than stellar i was lucky enough to win a very nice prize in the raffle. a 6 hour charter for four on the renown Salmon Slayer out of ludington(very nice indeed)

now my dilemma, i have been wanting very badly a Fish Hawk unit for our boat and i have considered offering the charter up in trade to anyone who might be interested in trading a good shape, good working fish hawk unit.

My only problem is that I'm not sure it is a ethical thing to do and i don't want to be out of line.

I know the fish hawk unit sells for about 550.00 new and the charter is a 480.00 value so i should be in the area anyway.

what do ya think guys is this right of me to do this or am i a jerk(please be kind)

  2. Fished the Dreamweaver event on saturday. We ran north to duck lake and set down a 5:00. we worked the 50 to 80 fow area all morning. fished for some time before anything happened.we had both of the fly's with spinners on the dipsey rods. as it turns out the flys were the only thing working for us we took 4 of our 5 fish on them. the other was on the modified carmel dolphin on a rigger set to 45.

We were a little off our game this weekend but managed not to embarass ourselves too bad.

A huge thanks to Jim& Bev and all the other people who helped to make this possible we had a blast regardless of our so so performance.

Also another huge thanks to all the sponsors for chipping in for a excellent cause(i can think of no better)your generosity is amazing.

Although our fishing was less than steller our luck changed at the rafle drawing, Rick won one of the reels that thing is awesome wish we could afford to change all of our reels to those!!!

I was lucky enough to win the Charter on the Salmon Slayer that will be awesome!!!!:yahoo::ps-020:

Rick and i have already decided that we will be in this event as along as were able and the Tad Pole still floats!!

  3. Myself, Rick, Jim(sixshooter) and one of Ricks friends Lenny went out to Port Sheldon last night. past the pier heads a little after 5 pm and ran out to 125 and set up on a west troll. ok now is when it gets boring we trolled out to 150 fow and then turned around made it back to 90 fow then back out to 125 then turned around and went back in until it was time to go.had a couple of releases on riggers in that time but not sure if anything was ever there. we did have a nice fish on a high line not sure what the bait was Jim set it out but it came undone after a pretty good run. pulled lines at 10 pm and we had been dragging a 13 in king on a 7 color for what must have been a long time.

didn't mark to much as far as bait pods and the surface temp was 64.5 pretty much everywhere

so 1 for 2 with the baby king being the only reason the box didnt stink

  4. We fish out of port sheldon 90% of the time. The Tad Pole is not a real big boat but still pretty good size, we did run aground once becouse the lower unit went to the trailer position and wouldn't go back down but that is another story.last year when the water was the lowest we saw some 3 1/2 foot depth areas if ya draw more than then ya might have a issue.

Port Sheldon like allot of other launches its more about knowing where not to go becouse there is some REAL shallow water in there but also there is enough if ya look for it

  5. We pulled the boat over to Muskegon last night to take my son Cole ,his friend Chuck and my daughter kara out. Knowing that the fishing has been slow and we had the storms come threw here friday and it's June i wasn't real hopeful and i was pretty much right but we did manage to go 2 for 2.

we fished everything from 130 fow all the way out to 300 fow with the action being real slowwe took a real nice 10 pound steel head in 265 fow on a 7 color with a moonshine T-N-T. the second fish much later a 5 pound coho in 145 fow 125 down on the rigger on a moonshine mcmuffin.

real nice night on the lake the kids had a good time and Kara got to brag that one her very first lake michigan trip she got the biggest fish!

i'll post pics later gotta get to work

  6. there are tons of fish in gun lake, i fish it every year in the spring for blue gill and we ice fish it every winter, blue gill, crappie, pike, bass, well you get the idea.i think your too late to catch the blue gills up on there beds but maybe some straglers might be around i would try to find some weed beds.good luck

the weather is suppose to be nice this weekend.

  7. The timing light not working may be the clue were looking for, the light fires when it senses the voltage in the plug wire....sounds like a spark issue.possibly not firing on cyl. no#1, bad cap? or possibly a bad plug not allowing ignition to happen? this could also explain the detonation. just a thought

  8. Way to go Frank and crew, I talked to Rick for a hour last night he said he had a real good time! he also said that you for sure know how to Git-er-Done!

I was teribly broke up that i wouldn't be able to make this trip.Hopefully sometime soon i can have another chance to fish with ya wether its in your pond or ours!

  9. the problem with those rod holders is that the (stud) extends down threw the mounting plate so it will be tough to get them into the tracks unless you make the base thick probabaly atleast a half inch thick with a counter sunk bottom with channeled sides to allow them to still go in the tracks, not sure if this helps but if ya want i will try to draft out what i believe will work.i can see it i just can't explain it

  10. We are trying to figure out how to install a removable hardtop with the rocket launcher being the rear support for the top if that works out it will be awesome(in my best tommy boy imitation)

  11. We also were there and also experinced the S L O W fishing.

went 3 for 4 fished 150 to 220 fow area pretty much strait out.

first fish came on a moonshine mag TNT set down to 75 on the rigger.a 4 pound king.

second fish came on the moonshine mandarin minnow set down to 100 ft. on the rigger.looked to be the biggest fish of the day but lost it 30 ft. behind the boat.

3rd fish came on a moonshine agent orange 100 ft down on the rigger.a 8 pound king.

4th fish came on the mandarin minnow set to 100 again.another 8 pound king.

marked a ton of fish in the 150 to 180 fow range 35 to 85 ft. down but couldn't get them to go.

chatted with just hook'n some on the radio they seamed to be doing things with there dipseys, our lead and dipseys didn't take a hit all night.

It was pretty moist out there to begin with but it stopped raining after awhile the lake was pretty flat, so the ride was good but the fishing could be better.

  12. I made some 10 pound shark balls this past winter and i ran them a couple of weeks ago for the first time. in comparison they have about the same blow back as a 12 pound true trac ball maybe slightly less but i like them and they will be a permanent fixture from now on.

  13. When Bill Elliot qualified at Talladega at over 212 mph they then put in the restrictor plate rule, now i know that the "stock cars' weigh more than other types of racing cars but as far as big time racers they are by far the slowest cars racing.so why don't they put any restriction on the other types of racing for instance F1 and there tracks are far more open than any nascar race track with the possible exception to the two road courses but those lead sleds can't achieve anywhere near F1 speeds on those tracks. In F1 any little thing to gain a little more speed is acceptable.

the other thing that is bothering me in NASCAR is the single minded determination to bring parity to the sport,in this i agree with mainiac, the manufactures don't have to worry about aero dynamics or fuel economy or power because NASCAR will make it all even in the end.

I have been a very devoted fan of NASCAR racing since 1994 and lately i have been frustrated with the road they have chosen to follow.I have many more grips but this post is already to long

  14. we've been running 30 lb. fire line on our dipseys for several years now with zero complaints as far as strength or being able to get deep enough (have bounced them off the bottom in 90 fow, with about 200 ft out,set on 2)the only complaint that i have is that when the fleas are bad they do collect on the fire line.other than that i wouldnt have it any other way.

  15. I agree with most of the guys that many of your no users are excellent spoons, but i personally don't have a spoon on the boat that i would throw over the side on any given day any spoon will catch fish,in fact i have a Budweiser (red&white) spoon i run once in awhile, caught a fish on it once.musta been drunk that day when i asked myself "so what spoon ya gonna buy today" but i would have to say that bloody nose with the spots is one of my favorites

  16. We have four big jon's on our boat,we have found that the rigger retrieves a 12# ball real nice and we get minimal blow back, i DON'T like to use the tip up booms as i have never gotten used to them and i have pinched my thumb more than once and with a 12 pound ball on the end of a 4 ft boom thats allot of pinch for the buck!we use the gator releases some say they like the rubber band releases but again i stick with what i know and they are simple to use and last along time.

And as far as lures MOON SHINE spoons will get ya bites

the biggest thing to do is find what they like and keep givin it to them!!
