  2. I fish the west Michigan league and the 1st tournament last year i got skunked!! but i didn't finish out of the top 10 for the rest of the year so i wouldn't worry to much about that and we are all pretty giving on any information we can give to help another out,but it helps us to give better info if we we know what you have for equipment(boat, rods, down riggers, ect.)just give a little up as as what you have to work with.and I'm sure you will receive plenty of tips and pointers

couple years ago we went out with our then new boat and fished with only dipsey rods and we caught fish so ya don't have to have everything the first trip out

  3. looking good, now the hard part, what do i buy new, where do i mount this, maybe I'll try it this way this time,oh man this is gonna be awesome......

we have rerigged the Tad Pole for the third year in a row and there is always changes you wanna make.

but anyway looks awesome I'm a little jealous

  4. The Tad Pole has a relief screw to lower the unit,(cobra outdrive)found out the hard way.but i'm not sure how well it would work to lift the unit becouse one guy would have to be in the boat to close the screw(valve)and it might be too heavy for one guy to lift high enough but with help i'm sure it would work fine.the i\o units can be real heavy.

    merc cruise?cobra? or volvo?

  5. well it seams that at times it takes forever to accaire it's position, and then it often loses position and at times it might take 45 min. before it reaquires,we have sent it in and they sent it back with a print out that they had replaced the unit, but when i turned it on last night it aquired its position in about 30 seconds, but it showed tracks when we was out on a local lake with it late last fall so i dont know if they repaired the original unit or if they transfered the data from the old unit.but it does seam to be working fine now but the real test is soon to come.

but i agree this thing is awesome when it works right!! do you have the lake map chip for it? if not it is well worth the $100.00 it costs

  6. how do you like your GPS? we have the same unit new last year and we now are on our 3rd new one, warrenty of course no problems there but i was curious if you were haveing any problems with yours(great unit when it works right)

The lake map chip is a must!!

  7. i wired a toggle switch into a 98 GMC that was canadian built, find the power wire for the driverside lowbeam headlight,(by the driverside fender where the fender well meets it) cut the wire and run two wires threw the fire wall to the left side kick pannle run one wire to each end of the wire you cut i used butt connectors with heat shrink and the two wires go to a simple toggle switch and as the left headlight feeds power to the right this works fine i mounted the switch in the kick pannel(drivers side)works great lasts a long time, but the american built models the e-brake thing works.

    hope this helps

  8. we have two 55w fog lights mounted on top of our trees,we mounted them with swivil type bases so that when a little light is needed they can be turned up to avoid shining directly into the water,we also use seperate switches for the lights so that just one or both can be turned on or off.this has worked very well, when pulling lines turn them both on and point them down and man its like daytime out there.another nice thing is with them on the trees we can turn them and shine the shore line has been very useful last summer when we had some pretty thick fog in the morning.

not saying this is the best set up but it works well for us.

  9. we plan on replacing the bellows,we was told that a cobra outdrive dont have bellows but were gonna replace those things that look just like bellows all the same.rebuild the carb.and that is about it,we had a outstanding year as far as the boat went,we didnt have to work on it one time(knock on wood)considering the boat is 22 years old thats awesome as far as i'm concerned.
