thanks for the report

beautiful morning
the Harvest moon
the freighter
the sunriseunfortunately this run is jinxed with warm water - no bites - started down off Saugatuck and then PUG returned to Holland in 5-6footers and gave that a shot too - even several charters off GH coming up empty - both rivers were 3 degrees colder than the big lake which is not a good sign! heard of 4 matures caught NW of GH in 170fow 140-150down so PUG is still hopeful that there might be a cold front and run to target

Returned from 9days on Isle Royale
Returned from 9days on Isle Royale and PUG was itching to go fishing tonight on Parker so we went out of Holland and set lines in 185FOW at around 7.15PM.
Ended up going 9 for 11
All bites were in that 150-175 fow
Fish came as high as copper 150 but most were in the 60-100 down range
Moonshine spoons were best on the riggers and took most
Dragon Slayer spindoctor took just a monster steelhead on copper 300 (photos ATTACHED)
Deep braid dipsey with yellow meat rig went twice out 150 and both were solid fish
Other deep braid dipsey with white paddle and green fly went too out 190
South troll but also SE and SW were the directions that worked
We ended up at least 4 miles south of Saugatuck pier
There was no solid after dark bite unfortunately...ark bite tonight unfortunately

great report

nvm- ok so I can see from your report they were all top 50 foot. I guess I was just wondering if they magically turned on at around midnight or what. Very impressive
-
this rocks JDH! so tell us a little more... you started fishing at around midnight and took bites until around 1am? How far down? You attributed it to the fuller moon? Any specifics or theories you got would be appreciated because always wanted to figure this out better.
-
PUG struggled to get his magic gusto tonight - full boat and fun crowd - very inexperienced but with that super appreciative which made it super fun@
4for5 in that 68-95fow
there was no targetable depth or pattern for us unlike this AM
still beautiful moon and thankful to have gone
4 of our 5 bites came on hi dipsey 160 and 180 out with spinnies
nothing on long lines
rigger with bloody nose took a big one after sunset

nice work SeaFoam! another impressive Solo outing
-
I will say that there was a flock of boats inside of us off the sliders in that 50-60 and I wonder if they did any good
SeaFoam was that you just outside of us this AM in 75-80?
-
nice job - I wanted to run north and try the area you describe but we had a limited window of time and fortunately it still worked out

see you out there JDH - pug has a big group from church he is taking!
-
hey man he can't get enough water time
-
PUG found a fresh pod of eaters in that 65-75fow this morning directly out of Holland
south & southwest troll was best so we ended closer to Saugatuck
riggers down 55-70 with sliders went numerous times with Mag Spoons
dipseys out 88 and 90 on deeps and 160 on highs participated with spinnies
copp150 went several times with green ladder plug
copp150 went with spoon
copp200 went with what I forget i guess
beautiful morning - pulled lines ontime because son's bday today

Holland 9-12
in Michigan Waters Fishing Reports - Salmon and Trout

PUG is red hot pissed at me because I never made it out tonight (doing safety boat on a 2day regatta event inside Mac this weekend and day1 ran all the way til 630pm). Anyways, good job finding some fish you guys and now that the buoy is up again I can visualize why things may be on the to the positive! As far as folks nailing the south pier I completely agree that the south pier is a disaster for mariners… I noticed it many years ago when I would fish kings all night off Saug and then heading back at around 4am (obviously exhausted) it just appears so confusing. Add a few drinks or if you are a newbie it is a recipe for disaster. IMO and maybe I got it wrong but that weather station on the north side that also shines green is the kiss of death. That effectively creates “two pair” of red and greens and if you mistakenly lock in on the inside pair then you nail the pier pretty much in the same spot where the last 4 boats that have hit it have nailed it. Shoot it feels like Holland has had more crashes than even the channels with breakwalls like Manistee and Muskegon and this should NOT be the case?
