  1. we struck out there at big sable point on monday night. Guys i know that went southwest took good numbers of fish out a little deeper like 150-300 fow. Monday there was also lots of boats around us that were not catching fish, so it wasnt just us. We just had two days of hard nw wind so who knows what will be working. I did hear a report of some being caught in pere marquette lake on spoons plugs and deep diver thundersticks. Good luck sorry i couldnt be more help.
  2. Pentwater Ludington and Frankfort is where I fish. I live in the Frankfort area and fish often. The brown fishing was better this spring than usual. King fishing started good in early June but is now slower than most years past. Three fish a trip is the usual for me. Have had a few scunked this year to. Offshore steelhead was great when we had a large thermal break. Even the charter guys around here I keep up with have not been bringing in any large numbers. Fish size isn't all that great either. Not marking much bait to top it all off.
  3. dont feel bad. Me and my dad fish out of ludington. I travle down from frankfort and we have not had a great day of fishing all year. Most we could get in a trip has been four fish. I know how you feel. Frankfort has not been all that great either. Best day i have had up there is 8 for 12 and we had to go 16 miles offshore to find those fish.
  4. Fished out front in 120 fow at 5:00 am. No marks or fish for an hour. Ran to the harring hole and fished 156 fow. 4 core went first with a uv wonderbread. 10 pound king. Then a 300 copper right after that with a funny bear mag modified green dolphin. Lost another fish on the same rig. Both ten pound kings. Pretty slow up here still but getting a little better
  5. I also only run two riggers. They produce mostly in the early morning and late night because of the low light. I think fish hear the boat and see the cannon ball so they get spooked. Riggers although mostly effective during low light hours do also work well when fishing in really deep water. In my personal opinion i depend more on my wire and braid dipsys than any other fish catching tool i have. Divers just plain catch fish, but riggers also have there days. Good fishing to you.
  6. Went 16 miles of shore this evening. Went 8 for 12 on steel and lame trout. Very quick temp break that goes from 62 to 47 degrees straight out front. Caught most the fish in the 48 degree water. Found a real nice scum line around 8 pm and took a few fish in it. Most the other fish were scattered around out there. Mono line with rubber core sinker ten ft in front of the lure out on a board. 2 core 3 core 4 core 6 core all took fish. All spoons. Double Orange crush, steely stomper, jäger bomb, and Craig's steelhead all caught fish, all dreamweaver super slims. Hope it stays good cuz the king fishing on the bank sucks.
  7. frankfort had a few last time i was out which was on the 4th of july. Just fished ludington on the 10th and the were clogging up the braid on out slide divers and the fish we caught on the riggers clogged the mono up terrible. Water temps on shore on or above 70 degrees really makes these things a treat.
  8. corey k im pretty sure you are the guys me n my dad talked to at the end of the night. Sportcraft boat?
  9. Left the ramp at 6:00 pm and headed north to big point. Set down in 175 fow and trolled between 250 fow and 150 fow on a north troll. First fish came on a 300 copper with a spoon. Can't remember what type. An hour or so later we took another fish 60 down on a rigger with a blue spin doc with a cold steel big water meat rig. Small king. Had a rip on a slide diver out 75 with a mountain dew spin doc with a green fly but lost that fish. 2 for three. Slow fishing for the most part. One boat we talked to got 14 fish but they fished from moring til night just slowly picking away at them.
  10. Fished on 7-4 in frankfort. I fished a pm trip starting out in 275 fow. missed a fish on a rigger 110 down on meat. Next fish a small king came on a diver out 200 on 1 1/2 setting on a DW showtime spin doc with a pickled sunshine fly. Then the dry spell until we trolled into 60 fow at just befor dark. Took a laker on a 250 copper with a mag mixed veggie. Took another king on a diver out 95 on a moonshine glow spoon. Lost two others. Long story short is was a little slow, but the boats fishing out 400 plus fow have been doing well. With the nw wind coming in not sure how it will effect the fishing. Nobody was able to get out the last two days cuz of wind. Nw wind may stack our cold water up back on the shelf instead of offshore so far. I will be out there wen night and probly thursday morning. Boat name is trina rose if you want to call me on channel 10. I always share any info.
  11. 2o pound is all i run for copper leaders. I would say the color red doesnt matter but i always put a six to ten foot piece of florocarbon leader on the very end of the regular mono leader or in your case the red leader.
  12. i was out there but got blown off on 7-2-14 the fog was pretty bad too. Glad you got some fish. I was only able to take two kings befor the wind got bad. 18 ft boat fishing alone, didnt want to take chances out there. Thanks for the report.
  13. we started running premium gas in my dads 5.0 and the stalling stopped. 87 octain has to much ethanol for older engines
  14. I use the okuma 8 1/2 ft leadcore copper rods with a twilli tip. Stainless guides for the wire to go through with diawa 47 line counter reel. These rods are 35 to 40 bucks at tackle shops.
  15. Haven't fished Frankfort in a week due to traveling to Ontario walleye fishing. Seems things have slowed a bit. Started in 150 fow right out front. 8 rods in the water with a little bit of everything. No takers. At 9:30 I pulled all rods and switched them to an all glow program. Finaly took an 8 pound king on a 6 core with a purple dw Easter egg glow in 140 fow. Then lost A fish on a low diver with a Glow spin doc and green glow strong fly. Then lost two more fish one on 150 copper and a 200 copper with moonshine spoons. Gonna be a tough tournament weekend I think.
  16. All i can say is use nothing but torpedo swivels. They are small but strong. You just need to have nimble fingers to lock and unlock them. 10 bucks for 10 tho
  17. I had trouble in the hole wendsday. Ended up getting my fish out front. Thanks for the report.
  18. I skipped out last night cuz of the fog. Sounds like there is Plenty of fish out there still. Thanks for the report
  19. Yeah, not sure what the ones i saw were but i am certain it was not the psp net because we were a little north of the project and out in 75 to 100 fow. Whatever it was i am glad someone is taking care of this. I here the guy who ran the nets is in prison now so maybe i will see him, as i am a correctoins officer. THey need to take some responsibilty for these nets because everyone is tired of this garbage floating around our lake.
  20. i saw some boueys floating around in front of the project a week and a half ago. In about 75 fow. not sure what they were. I though they had a stick with a flag or marker on top. these were just round and about a foot in diameter. We just stayed clear of them.
  21. Started Saturday moring south of Frankfort in the hole. Worked 75 to 179 fow. Started at 5:45 ended at 9:30. We were 6 for 8 all kings, 2 shakers and four nice adult kings. 200 copper with a dreamweaver supper slim starburst and a wire diver set on 1.5 out 100 ft with a moonshine uv blue jakyl. 6-8 fished the same water today.surface cooled a few degrees down to 48. We went 7 for 9. All kings, threw back two shakers. The rest were all decent size with the biggest being 14.45 pounds. Same exact set up as day before. No real hot time of the morning just slowly picked away at them. Took bites on the north and the south troll
  22. We got one bye the pier heads two weeks ago. I have been fishing platte bay for lake trout lately, but i read a report today that guys are starting to get a few out on the shelf around 100 ft.
  23. Starter out at 6 am in 110 fow in front of the project. Surface temp was 48 and we were not getting any marks. Turned straight east and trolled into 75 fow where the temp warmed to 51 on the surface. Instantly had a double on our riggers. 41 down on a moonshine uv wonderbread, the other rigger was at 71 and had a green moonshine flounder pounder uv. Both 6-8 pound kings. Next was a steelhead on a 3 core. Wasnt sure on the lure but it was yellow and blue with uv tape on it. Still working the 75 fow we hit two more steelies on that same 3 color core but those fish both spit the hook. Last fish was a king on a 5 core with a silver streak mini streak double orange crush. ended 4for 6. There looked to be some nets around this area. Saw two orange round boueys floating out there i am assuming are marking native nets. Pulled lines at 9:30 to go to work.
  24. Looks like you had it going on up there. We finaly found fish this morning in front of the project in ludington in 75 ft. Surface down to 70 ft on the riggers. Fish were scattered. We had the same traffic in ludington. Only 3 boats in sight. 4 for 6 3 kings 1 steely. orange crush spoon on 3 color and moonshing uv wonderbread spoon
