  1. Out of the 10 boats that were out there saturday, I heard of one small brown caught.
  2. Just some skim ice by the launch. There is still ice at the end of the channel but there's plenty enough room to turn around. To clarify, we were fishing in the channel by the warm water outflows.
  3. Forgot to add that orange river rocker took a steelie.
  4. We were able to put in at the Dnr launch. You'll need 4 wheel, the launch was slick and there's still a little mound of snow at the entrance.
  5. With spring fishing only a few months away, I thought we could get the blood flowin with some pictures from this past fishing season. Here's mine, my best day fishing this past summer, getting my sister her first 20+ pound king and the view I never get sick of seeing. Lots of great memories and friends made this past season. Can't wait for 2014! Lets see those pictures!
  6. Theres plenty of trout to be caught south of Holland in 95 fow! Reeltalk
  7. Well we had some fantastic days of fishing this week prefishing for Big Red. There are ALOT of big kings out there, the key is trying to pin point them. We found bigger kings earlier in the week but we lost their pattern as the week went on. We mainly stayed between 95-120 FOW south of Holland. Top 60 foot of water was hot but there are plenty of lakers to be picked up if so desire. Our riggers took a good number of fish throughout the week running 11inch Big Weenie white paddle with an Arctic Blast fly and Green Frog Spin Doctor with a Proctologist Fly. Kevorkian and Mountain Dew Spin Doctors on the high divers anywhere from 150-200 back were taking larger fish this whole week. Low divers with the same 11 inch paddles and a Chrome SpinDoctor with a Mirage fly. Coppers weren't on fire but they all pulled fish. Our 150 had a green glow plug, 200 Kevorkian SpinDoctor and the 250 with an 11 inch paddle. We ran generally slower early in the week anywhere from 1.9-2.2 at the ball. Our probe is now reading consistently in 105 FOW down by the last slider, if you catch what im saying. Our saturday box for BR weighed in at #73.76 and our day two box weighed #68.48. We ended up in eighth place out of forty two boats in the AM division. Thanks for all the help on here and it was nice meeting some on you! Lets hope these big kings stick around! ReelTalk
  8. Steelhead usually hit faster moving baits. Whats your surface speed and/or down speed?
  9. 2 were nice 4 year old kings! We had another large silver fish hit the 250 but came off a short while later. Didn't mark lots of fish but they were there! The biggest was around 17.
  10. Another quick trip before work today ended up being a fantastic trip before work. We set lines in 110 and started taking fish all the way out to 150. First hit came on a high diver with a green frog spin doctor and proctologist big weenie flie, only to have the leader break a few seconds after the hit. After the first hit, the fish kept coming so we never were able to get all of our lines back into the water. Riggers outproduced the divers by a small margin but every rod took a fish this morning. Almost our entire spread consisted of spin doctors & flies. We ran paddles low divers back 120-140 with various green spinnies and Big Weenie flies along with 11 inch paddles with Glow Artic Blast Big Weenies. High divers 180-200 with the same setups. Riggers at 60 & 70, one with a paddle and the other with a Mixed Veggie spinnie. The coppers took 3 fish; the 200 went twice with a regular skittles Silver Streak and the 250 went once with a mag blue dolphin. We ended 12/16 at 8:30. We miscounted and only kept 9 fish but the 3 were successfully released. South troll going 2.1-2.3 at the ball took all of our fish. Goodluck to those who go out this week. Will post pictures after work. Reeltalk
  11. A buddy and I were up late carp spearing but decided to get up early to fish just because of how nice of a day it was going to be. We were greeted by a glass Lake Michigan as we left the pierheads at 6. We set up in 70 fow just south of Holland and pointed southwest as we set lines. We took a small king on a 250 copper with a Silver Streak Lemonberry in 85 fow. We continued to troll south until we hit the last slider with no other hits. We turned on a straight north troll and took another small king on a 5 color with a Stinger Double Orange Crush, going the same speed as the last fish. We marked a lot of fish and bait towards the last slider but none of them seemed to be hungry. We ended 2/2 when we pulled lines at 10:30 and by the talk on the radio, 2 fish was pretty good for the morning. A great morning to be on the water! See some of you tomorrow for the league! Reel Talk
  12. Being a new guy to the Steelheaders league, I somehow missed the fact that we fish every other week so we decided to go out anyway since I had the whole crew at the dock at 5:30. We set up in 60 fow in front of tunnel park and stayed on a southeast/southwest troll the whole night. We bounced between 85-100 working our way to the last slider. Our first fish came on a 300 copper with a Mag Silver Streak Carmel Dolphin in 97 fow on a southwest troll. Second fish came on a free slider Stinger Regular Orange Crush on a rigger 60 down in 84 fow on a southeast troll. Our last fish for the night came on a 250 copper with a Green Huckleberry Silver Streak on a south west troll. We ended 3/3 with no bites coming after 7:45. Water temp at our ball 60 down was 42.7 and surface temp was 55.6. Our best troll speed was between 2.2 and 2.3. Hope this helps anyone going out this week and good luck! Reel Talk
  13. I took my dad out this morning for a quick trip before I had to go into work. We started setting lines in 110 and worked a southwest troll out to 140. While setting lines, we took 2 nice mid-teen kings on a rigger 70 down with a 11 inch white paddle and a Big Weenie Artic Blast fly. Those 2 hits came in 120 and 130. We turned onto a SE troll then took a rip on a 250 copper with a Carmel Dolphin Silver Streak in 137 but no one was home. A rigger 40 down with a Orange Crush free slider took a small king in 115. Our final fish came in 110 on a 200 copper with a Green Huckleberry Silver Streak. Ended 4/5 at 8:30 when we called it for the morning. Goodluck to those who go out this week! See some of you for the Steelheaders League on Tuesday! Reel Talk
  14. Fished the Steelheaders tourney this morning. Thanks again to the Holland Steelheaders for putting on the event! We set up north of Holland in 100 FOW and got lines set in 130. We got on a straight line south troll and starting picking up fish. First fish came on a 225 copper with a lemonberry spoon, leader snapped at the boat. All but 1 other hit came on our downriggers which were set at 40 & 50 early in the morning and dropped to 80 & 90 as the day went on. We took hits on white paddles, green spin doctors and a mixed veggie spoon. (flies matching the color of the paddle/spindoctor). Ended up 7/14 at 12:45 when we called it quits. Caught a some nice kings with a couple smaller kings and a coho mixed in. Overall a great morning on the water with some fish mixed in to make it even better! Nick Everse (Reeltalk)
  15. Lets say a lure caught a fish or two earlier in the morning but hasn't gotten a bump for the past hour or so. Do you keep the lure running since it caught fish earlier or is it time to switch it out? If you were running a paddle/fly would you switch to a spoon or to a different paddle/fly setup? Thanks, Nick
  16. Looking to buy a complete Subtroll setup. Thanks, Nick
