  1. Thanks for the link Wayne. Now about that Brown Trout Blast, you didn't tell me I had to deal with 2 of you clowns. Just make sure RCH don't have any Walmart bags on board.

I promise, Larry wont have any Wal-Mart bags onboard and no Super J plugs either :D ... No Bananas  Lets see what else.... Oh yeah, you both have to stay away from the landing net... No farmers:eek:

  2. Welcome Mike,

I think I had a chance to fish with you and Mark around Thanksgiving on the river. Look forward to fishing with you guys again.

And let me think, by my count thats like 3 Mike's on site so far??? Should be easy in the chat, just say mike and odds are one of you will be there :D

  3. Its not my cup of tea, but it is a legal fishing method in the state of Michigan.

Great Lakes Fisherman is mainly a salmon fishing website. I started the website 3 weeks ago. Salmon reports this time of year are hard to come by, so I have been using general fishing reports for filler until salmon and trout fishing take off.

I will be more selective in the future with posts that I make.

    Mike,

While I agree that spearing isn't very sporting, it is a legal method of "fishing" in Michigan. I see no reason to be "selective" on your posting. While some may find it distasteful, others may enjoy another way to partake of natures bounty in legal methods. Just like snagging years ago, I used to enjoy it, then as I matured and found more sporting ways to take salmon and trout, I moved away from snagging and started light lining and drift fishing. Fortunatly the DNR agreed that it wasn't sporting and for the most part abolished it, hopefully they will likewise abolish spearing but until then, mentioning it as an alternative to sitting on the couch seems fair to me. I dont feel you were promoting it.

    Just my opinion

  4. Wayne(Midway) has fished with me a few times last summer using these and can attest some of the damage this rig did last year for me.

It takes a little getting used to how much line to have out but once you get it down, its very easy to run and catchs alot of fish.

Yeah I've had the luxury of fishing with Dave, learned alot from him, from everything from tactics to "special" lures... Fishing with him is like a kid in a candy store... sure cut into my bank account, trying it on his boat... "NEEDING" it on mine :) :)

    Thanks for the lessons Dave

  5. So far I have heard green, yellow, and blue. What are the rest of the colors on a 10 color spool?

Again, no standard between MFG's but red, tan brown couple shades of blue, black, silver.... basically buy a spool and if you want it standard, stick with that MFG. :o:)

  6. I don't believe there is a set color between manufactures. But the color is consistent if you by from one manufacturer. Also if you rig multiple reels with same length core such as (2) 2 colors, (2) 3 colors, and (2) 5 colors (like I did for Midway97) you can work it out so that just by looking at the color on the outside of the reel you will know how many colors are on that reel. For example: both Wayne's 2 colors have the blue color on the outside and his 3 colors will have yellow and his 5 colors have green. That way you know I want to run a 3 color core for the depth I'm in. you can just grab the reels with the yellow core showing.

I thought I was going to have to figure that all out when I got the rigs, now I can tell them apart sight unseen:D :D :D

  7. In a full core there are 10 different colors, but I don't believe they are standard between different manufacturers, I know some of them add a color chart with the spool of lead core, I still have one atached to the boat, but it doesn't match the core I currently run.
