  1. Let's see a list of who got out fishing this weekend! I was out on Friday nite, and will beout again on Tues & Wed, but no fishing this weekend for me!
  2. I just got back from a short 90 minute trip out on the water with a good friend of mine (Friday night). If I was fishing this weekend, which I'm not (baseball game in Philly...Go BRAVES!!!), I'd definitely save some gas and check out the inside waters....60-80FOW was LOADED with bait and fish tonight. We moved a couple of rods, but just didn't have enough time to really put our best effort out there. We trolled out as deep as 200 and found nothing. Came back in to 70 FOW after leaving fish to try and find fish and they were still there. Evidently the bite wasn't on all day, so my guess is that tomorrow morning will be good if you have a strong program for that water. Temps down 70 over 70 were 51 degrees, and it quickly warmed up to 65 degrees by bringing the probe up just 7-10 feet. Good luck to all this weekend!
  3. This boat needs to go fellas. I'm a serious, motivated seller. PM me if you're interested. Price is negotiable. Bill
  4. Musky Bob, We've all had days like that...important thing is that you don't let it get you down and you keep after 'em! The best part of the season is here...go get 'em!!!
  5. GLF, If you want to chase some of the biggies, let me know...I'll gladly set up a day out on my boat with you. PM me if you want to discuss it. Bill

  7. Steve, HOT steelie! What spoon did the fish come on? Bill
  8. I don't want to do it, but I'm listing the Billy V for sale so I can get into a bigger boat. This is a 1988 Penn Yan 242 Challenger. She is in EXCELLENT condition and has been professionally maintained with an open checkbook. I've seen a lot of boats over the years, and I promise that you won't find a nicer boat given the year. I'm the second owner. She's been stored covered indoors each off season since I've owned her. The first owner kept her in a covered boat house in Henderson Harbor all year long, so she never saw the sun for more than a few hours each season. This boat has been pampered and it shows. A proven fish catching machine, she's fully ready to fish. Just gas her up and go. Here's a list of what she comes with: 2004 Load-Rite tandem axle trailer w/ surge breaks 265 HP OMC King Cobra stern drive (Chevy 350 block w/ under 1200 original hours) Professionally re-built heads in 2004 Outdrive professionally re-built in 2004 Lowrance X-105C DF fishfinder - 2005 New dual frequency transducer - July 2006 Uniden VHF radio Ritchie Angler compass Moor Sub-Troll 800 - 2005 180 Watt AM/FM/CD stereo - 2006 4 Cannon Mag 10 downriggers w/ swivel bases Planer reels Cockpit washdown 2 In-floor fish boxes 5 stainless steel flush mounted rod holders - 2005 Tite-lok adjustable rod holders Dual batteries w/ switch Bennett trim tabs Bottom painted spring 2006 Good Automatic Windlass Stand-up canvas w/ full drop curtains Windows replaced in canvas 2005 2 back to back fold down seats Bait livewell on transom $22,500 PM me if you'd like to see the boat or have questions or want to see more pics.
  9. Yeah, it was. He whacked it trying to get the hook out of the fish. Hey, if all we have to do is give a little blood for a day like that one, sign me up for a full blood transfusion! I want all the Kings I can get!! They were great guys to fish with, and I hope to fish with them both again soon.

    Bow Hunters

Me too Empty Hook. Matter of fact, I carry my bow through most of gun season too.

    My 2000 Buck

I LOVE it. It's smooth, fast, quiet, and vibration free right out of the box. I added string leeches and limb savers and it's even quieter now. I shoot against a bunch of Hoyt guys, and I'd put my bow up against their best bows any day. Although I gotta admit the new Trykon is pretty sweet.

    Bow Hunters

I was a bowhunter in my teens, then got away from it until just last year. So glad I'm back!

    My 2000 Buck

OK, since we're sharing pics, here's my 2005 Buck. Nice little 8-point taken by my Matthews Switchback at 27 yards:
  14. Today I fished with Ken and Brian from Pa. We went out of the Oak at 6:15am and set up out front. We found lots of bait and marks in anywhere from 90-115 FOW, but couldn't get them to go. Most of the marks were 60-70 ft. down. It was definitely shaping up to be a slow day. We finally boated our first fish at about 8:00am. It was a small skipper that came on a Habanero (I think...I lost track of the spoons today for some reason). After that, it was a steady pick of 5-10 lb Juniors until lunchtime as we trolled eastward. Right around noon, we picked up and headed back towards home and set up nearly 2 miles east of the river. We, along with a couple of other boats found lots of bait being worked by the fish. We had a very steady afternoon over that water and finished our day 9 for 10 with 8 Kings and 1 steelie. Biggest fish of the day was approximately 16 lbs. Lures of the day were a green 8" spin doc in front of a Sigg's Rig Holo Hypnotist fly on the wire out 190 on a #2 setting, a purple/black Apex off the rigger down 60', and a purple thunder mupp rig down 70'. Here's a couple of pics: Brian with one of the biggest of the day. A couple of happy campers at the end of the day. After we were done putting the boat down, I headed to Narby's to pick up a few supplies, and I ran into Matt Siggeman who owns Sigg's Rigs. Matt & I had never met before and I had no idea that he was in the area fishing on his own boat. Meeting him today was pure coincidence. We talked for a while and I told him of our success today with his flys. It's funny that I ran into him when I did, as today was the first time I've run his flys. Nice product. I gave him a few of my Habanero spoons and wished him well. Matt's a very nice guy, and I look forward to seeing him again at the Sodus Pro-Am next week. I hope you had a great few days on Lake Ontario Matt! After Narby's it was off to Captain's Cove to shop some more. While I was in the store, I met Jax Prelude II. It must've been my day for bumping into people. I gave Jax a few of my spoons as well, and gave him the lowdown on where we were and how we did today. I hope he hits 'em hard tomorrow. Let me know how the spoons worked for you Jax! Guess that's about it for now. I won't be back out again until Thursday, when I'll be pre-fishing the Pro-Am. I love to share details about what's been working for me, but it'll have to wait until after the Pro-Am!! Good luck to all who get out this week! Bill
  15. NEVER Share your secret spots...that's how they stay secret.
  16. Jim, Can you pm me a complete list of equipment along with more pics & a price? Thanks!
  17. Thanks guys. I'll be out on Sunday fishing on another boat that I might buy this fall....it's a 28' Penn Yan....11' beam, twin 350's, NICE!!! Sunday will be a test drive of sorts for me. I'll try and post a report. Bill
  18. This morning Gump and I left Shawn's marina at 5:30am and ran out the where I had all the marks last night. SURPRISE!!! They were still there! Even with all the warm water. We set up a quick 4 rod set and got down to business. Gump didn't believe me that wire dipsys catch fish, so I was out to prove him wrong today and I succeeded in spades. First fish came at 6:15 on a White pro-chip/LBB fly out 310'. Next one came on the JV Cheerleader, and while Gump's fighting it, we double up off the glow frog fished 60' down on a rigger. We dumped the second one, but Gump landed a beautiful 23# King. As I was setting up after that fire drill, the #3 rigger fires and we boated a nice 6# steelie on a habanero fished off a rigger set 50' down. Got set back up again and the JV Cheerleader fires again (out 340') and while Gump's battling in theback of the boat, the #2 rigger fires again...another double! We boated both of them and were back at the dock with all of our fish cleaned by 9:00. Wish we could've stayed out longer but Gump had to go. We ended our 2 hour trip 4 for 5. Here's two of the big boys: There's lots of fish and bait out there guys...get out here and cord 'em up!
  19. I do. It starter last year as an NK blank that I taped up myself. NK doesn't want to mass produce it because of the extra time they'd have to spend taping them up. Dreamweaver has a copy of it in their line this year. Their version isn't very good. R&R has made a few for me but doesn't want to mass produce it either, and it's so potent for me that I finally broke down and bought a bunch of blanks and I'm making them myself: It's far and away my #1 producer.
  20. I was joined by a good friend of mine for a quick evening trip on Tuesday night. We left Shawn's Marina at 7:45pm and ran straight out front and set up in 100FOW. What a difference a few days makes with the temps. Temps over the weekend were 57-58 degrees down deep. Last night we found 48 degrree water down 80 ft. Since we only had a short window of oportunity, I put down my "A" program. Sure enough, the Green Pro-troll pulling a green krinkle NK fly (aka JV Cheerleader)produced this nice late-evening King for Brendon: It came off a dpisy set on a #2 with 340' of wire out. This morning Brendon and I were joined by Brad for a morning trip. We found the same cold water out front. It seemed to warm the further out we went, although out over 300 FOW it was still in the low 50's down 80 ft. We worked hard for what we got today, but it was all worth it when Brad hooked into his first-ever King. We weighed it at 18#. The fish came on a 10 color core run off an inline planer. It was pulling my favorite spoon...the Habanero! I know you guys think I'm crazy with this spoon, but it's my go-to spoon day in and day out. Most of our marina runs it successfully. It's amazing how having confidence in a spoon allows you to just put it down and forget about it. From the radio chatter (or lack thereof) I'd say most guys had a real tough day today, although my dock mate went west of port this morning and went 2 for 4 out in 220 FOW by the silos. Mostly a spoon bite for him today. Again we had nice sunny skies, a flat lake, and great company. I'll be out over the weekend and most of next week and will try to post reports from the lake as I can. Keep at it guys, it's just gonna get better from here on out! Bill
  21. We had our dipsys on a #2 and figure they were running 100 ft down when we had them out 300-310' and 110 ft down 330-340. We were running 2.25mph or so down at the ball, and found there to be a TON of current. Top speed was basically useless as going North you had to put the hammer down to get that 2.25 down speed, and going South we had to sssllllooowwww it down. We run regular #1 size dipsys. As for donating time to the kids, it was a real treat for us. My first job out of college was working for the Boy Scouts of America as a District Executive. I know how hard it is to find volunteers for things. When the Chamber of Commerce asked if we'd be interested, I jumped on it. You should've seen these guys faces when they hooked an 8" perch...they were yelling FISH ON like it was the biggest fish in the world. I'd do it again in a minute.
  22. Jay and I got out for an afternoon trip on Saturday. GORGEOUS day on the water. Bright blue skies, 2-3 ft. chop, low humidity, warm...it was almost perfect. I had run out in the morning with a friend for a quick boat ride and did some scouting around and had found bunches of bait out front. So we ran out to 100FOW and found that the bait was still there, but not too many marks around it. Water temp was near 70 on top and 58-59 down 90! OUCH!! I set the first rigger down 90' with a Habanero and was setting the second when the first rod fires. Do you remember that scene from Pulp Fiction where they blow the guys brains out all over the wall? Well, after we net this small King, he proceeds to pitch a fit about being out of the water and causes that same kind of mess in the back of my boat. It looks like somebody got killed on board, but it was totally self-induced. Needless to say, he ened up in the box: Here's the little guy who caused all that mess! After we got completely set up and cleaned the mess up, the same rod fires again. This time Jay lands an 11# King. We were in 135 FOW for this one. Set back up again, and this time the #3 rigger fires, set down 100' pulling a glow frog. We end up boating this beautiful chromer: We'd been out less than an hour at this point. Jay says "Hmmm...the wire hasn't fired yet..." And WHAM...we're tied into a big boy. The fish takes me out to 500' and I lost him. Too bad, 'cuz it was a keeper. It came on the JV Cheerleader out on 320' of wire. We were out in 165FOW and found the temps down 100' to still be very warm....56-57 degrees. From then on out, we worked that same area (100-165FOW) and didn't have another rod move until that same JV Cheerleader goes with another Major. It was almost the same drill: BIG hit, LONG run, VISCIOUS headshakes, and then he was gone. I had moved the wire out 340' on this one just moments before the hit. After that, it was time to go in. All in all, we were very satisfied with our 3 for 5 evening. The fish are out there, and seem to be out of temp. On Sunday, a few of us from Fair Haven donated our time to take some challenged kids fishing. Popeye Charters, us, Shade Tree Charters, and the boys from the Jenny Too took about 15 kids out for a morning on the lake and in the bay. All of the boats caught fish, and I can say with certainty that all the kids had a great time. We took our guys to a little secret spot I know and we ended up catching 30 or so perch, bluegills, and bass. The kids had a riot, and so did we. Unfortunately, I forgot my camera so I don't have any pics to post. If I get some pics from the other guys, I'll post them here. I'll be up again for a trip on Wed, and will post our results the next day if I can. Bill
