capt john king silver bullet green 2 fly rig behind 12in black mamba reel flasher took 2 fish over 20lbs and none less then 15lbs for me last year.
-
just my 2 cents but i run my big meat rigs with large flashers at the normal 2.5 orso SOG and did very well with them. I also ran them high in the water column and did great. Mid day or early morning they took hits.
-
had similar results today at 6th. Saw a ton of fish being takin by boaters.
-
Managed to fish for a few hours at 6th this morning. Ice was building up a lot on the east side so had to fish the west. Wind was wicked and my hooks kept freezing into iceubes. Had a bite but the treble was so iced it didnt set.
Not sure if im brave or stupid.

And' date=' if you have to die some way I'd rather go eating smoked lake trout than smoking cigs.
Pretty soon they will tell us not to breath the air - oh wait, they already do that in some places.
Not trying to dig on you Mike, just the government.[/quote']

This explains it in detail, if I'm reading it correctly its open Jan 1 - Oct 31. Out of Holland we're fishing the MM 6-8 zones :
Jan. 1 - Oct. 31 (splake open for the entire year)

This is correct

im going to duct tape some styrofoam to my back, hold a rod with a dipsy on it and let waves troll me around.
-
Nice job, where do you primarily fish walleye at?
-
where were you fishing? wild at heart went 20-23 in holland?
Crazy to think the fishing can vary that much.

For out deep blueflasher/bluefly has done pretty good around PS
-
Tons of fish there right now! Thats really cool
-
Quick report tonight, it was slow and FOGGY.
Only got one in 170FOW, Blue flasher fly on dipsy back 140. Nice 3yr old king
I think its about time for me to focus on pike and walleye

size of spoons can matter. Last couple weeks magnums were hot and i was pulling 4 to 5 inch ale's out of the stomachs. Try to match the bait as best you can
-
thanks, im planning on doing the same saturday night
-
With the large number of boats in shallow combating, i thought i might go offshore a bit and target better eaters and some steelie.
Anybody had any luck lately going for skamania? Any tips?
-
nice job any size to the fish? any 4yr olds in the bunch?
-
What were you using to jig?
-
St Joe does have the steelie plants so there always lots of steelie around in the summer. Though im sure SH sees quite a few of em.

Setup on 150Fow sometime after 6 on a northeast troll.
Fished 130-110 ended 3 for 4.
Meat continued to be my best rod. 2 green teaser rig behind 11inpaddle on rigger 55down took 21lber and 10lber.
Mag flounder took 7lb king on rigger down 55.
Dipsy back 130on2 with 10in mtdew SD and mirage fly took a hit but the leader snapped.
A bit rough at first but ended nice, and got my second 20+lb king this year.
-
Another beautiful night. Took 2 of my buddys fishing.
Fished 120-130 Ended 5 for 7.
Fist fish came as I was setting up the first rigger in 100Fow.
John King Meat rig w/2 green teasers behind 11inch john king paddle.
I was lowering the meat when at 20 feet the rod pops out of the release. I though i had just released to fast so i brought up the rigger leaving the rod put.
Looked behind the boat and saw a steelie jump about 50 yards back. I thought nothing of it, until it jumped again and i saw the meat rig hanging in its mouth.
Got it just to the net when it spit. It played dead for a minute so i turned to net it and it woke up and fled. Looked about 10lbs.
Fished 120 to 130 with the usual suspects taking fish.
2 kings on the meat rig down 50' 7,16lbs
12lb king on mixed veggies down 60'
2 on green dots SD with mirage noseeum back 140 on 2. 12,18lbs
