  1. It wasn't even a full moon or Friday the 13th....
  2. Ken, I think it would be best that you and I never ever fish together! Could you imagine the pile up that would be?
  3. Frank, Agreed. I still cant believe we got out that day. The wife just laughs at our recovery and that still went fishing!
  4. WTF sums it up pretty well.... Played hooky for work to hit the Big Puddle. Got some stuff done around the house, to stay in the good graces of Momma! Bro in law Jay, neigbor/friend Jim and I headed over to Sheboygan, planned on being on the water about 2. Stopped for gas in Fond du Lac. Filled the boat and went to turn the truck around and nothing, the Exploder would crank but no fire. The fella at the next pump over told me it is the fuel pump, he is an auto tech. We try the beating of the gas tank and still nothing. From the fella's suggestion we shot it with either and away it puttered then nothing! Our tech fella confirmed the dead fuel pump. I looked at Jim and He looks at me and without a word said... Plan B.... Jim and I both dispatch our kids to drive the 30 minute to bail us out. Jim's son brings his Tundra and my daughter drives down with the Charger to take Jim's son back... NICE... we are still going fishing!! Hopefully once they get there! Now I headed into the Kwik Trip to call a tow truck and a guy wearing a Holiday Auto shop shirt is getting out of his car. I ask him the number to the shop, He ask me with vehicle is mine, He hopps on his phone calls a wrecker for us and drive me to the shop for the paper work..... sweet! Just as we were talking a van towing a boat gets hit by a car while trying to pull into the Brumuda Triangle Gas Station. I walk back over to the gas station after the paper work and the tow truck is there, he blow a hydralic hose right as he get under the Exploder.... Son of a biscuit! He calls another wrecker to pick the truck. The driver helps us push the boat and truck out of the way since the gas station is screaming busy. Our kids show up and we hook the Tundra up to my boat ... but the darn light cable is way to short. Plan C.... Fleet Farm!! So we send the kids home, leave the Exploder and head over to f&f and pick up a harness extension.... 2 hour delay but we are still going!! Thank to the helpful tech, the Holiday Auto shop guy, our two kids and some quick thinking..... We made it to the Big Pond! Sad part is the repair is going to be $950.00 ... This shoots my x4 and radio right out the window! Dang it! Just a temporary set back of the fishing funds! Ended up 10 for 11!!! I knew it was going to be a great day fishing, when that much crap goes wrong, you know the fih have to be snapping!
  5. Hit the water at 2:30 fished until 8:00. Took my friend/neighbor Jeff. 2.5 sog, 120 ft running a north and south troll pattern. Pretty darn lumpy out there, so much for 1 to 3 footers, more like 4 plus. Picked away at them, going 10 for 11 losing one rainbow dancing across the water and ended in a flurry of 3 kings. Results 1 ho, 2 rainbows, 1 greaser, and 6 kings. Really had to work for them today! Here is what worked for us: 11" white glow protrol with a white lightening possedon fly 85 down 45 back. 8" white glow dodger with same lightening fly rigged on a dipsey, 145 out, set to 2. Moonshine spoon mongolian beef mag set 69' back, 69 down. Moonshine glow with spots of orange and black. on a 5 color picked up the rainbows. Thanks Jeff for dragging the boat to the lake since the exploder is in the shop!
  6. Late report... Got lots of fishing in this weekend! Got a late start to the day after the Ford Exploder died at the gas station 30 minutes from the house. Made a nice recovery (See Brumuda Triangle Report) and got out on the pond by 3:30, setting lines by 4 fished till 8:30. Took bro in law Jay and friend/neigbor Jim. Ended up going 10 for 11 due to a breakoff. 1 greaser, 1 ho, 1 bow and 7 kings. Fist fish on is a 16 lb king that ran Jay out to 450. Nice for his first big pond fish! And a double throw in there later. Here is what worked for us: Big Weenie Poofster behind 11" white glow protroll 45 back and 95 down. Moonshine Mongolian beef magnum back 65 and down 65. NBK magnum on 7 color. OO orange flasher and green/gold peanunt fly on the 2 color. Could not buy a dipsey bite for nothing! Over all a great day on the water, all thing considered.
  7. Nice work! Hang it Gordy!
  8. Way to go guys! This boy has the same look on his face as Jim Bobber's copper snaggle picture! Jim Bobber, is he related?
  9. I like the deep red hull, not many boats out there with that bold color! Cool
  10. Mike, I just had a similar issue. Right below and behind the hitch ball is a reset switch to ensure the surge brakes are released from the trailer. If the switch is in the down position you will be dragging your brake the whole time. Make sure you check it each time you hook up the trailer. The marina metioned it when I bought it but I was not listening very well, information overload!
  11. I think I will have to give it a try, but I am not going to leave the deet at home thats for sure!!
  12. Sweet! Keep that spoon making as a yearly event!
  13. How long does that last? It sounds better than spraying deet around the lines and lures.
  14. I use mosquito spray. I spray it on the boat surfaces and anything else that can take it. Just becareful not to spray lures or lines.
  15. Jonas, Thank you for sharing the story and great pictures! Looks like you and your friends had a great fishing trip. Good luck to you also!! Those are some very beautiful salmon! Regards, Tom
  16. Shane, Nice Job! Is that one of the spoons you and your kids made this spring??
