  1. My wife came up with the name for my boat. She does work for a graphics shop so that was a plus...
  2. I picked one up a few years back. a 981SI. I use it on both boats. I run it on the river picking up the structure on the banks by just cruising the middle of the river. As for the SI function in the lake, it works well in shallow water as mentioned above and in deeper water you can trust the shadows to about 30ft depth. The SI picture is real time so thats a plus. It trolls nicely as the SI is good to about 11mph. I don't care for the dual function units they changed over to though. I would rather keep my electronics seperate, although if your pressed for room thats always helpful. All in all, it's a lot of money and unless you really need the SI function I'd say it's a bit more than what the average fisherman would want to spend. The graph functions are great. Colors good and the ability to dim the screen helpful with different colors, green, blue and brown backgrounds available. The gain control will pickup therms nicely and it's very consistant with it's readings. On a scale of one to ten in ease of use I give it a 10 although it's ducer is finiky as far as installation positioning. It needs a clear shot both left and right for the SI function.

  4. I use both bulbs and like my lures charged for about 6 to 8 hours before I use them. I'll usually just plug in the box on the boat the evening before I leave. Also a 120V flourescent light fixture will put out a lot more wattage than a 12v light fixture keeping the baits charged for a longer period. A small inverter will run an average double bulb Flor. fixture. I use an inverter on my boat anyways so it's no big deal to go that route but would not be adequate for the average person charging lures with it. It's about a $90.00 expense just to hook up the power source.
  5. I built my light box using two of these light fixtures. It works well although just using one fixture results were marginal. 6. I use a 15" 20 hp Johnson on my boat attatched to a kicker bracket but as priority one suggested the 20" works better. Waves were washing over the engine in rough water I added an extension to my lower so I don't have to drop the kicker down so low and it works great. As far as how deep you need it to be just enough depth to get below the hull is optimum any higher and using reverse won't work but it doesn't really have to be that deep for forward.
  7. I'll run a flasher/squid setups off of fullcore. When running other shorter corlines I only run a flahser off the longest line. I learned that one the hard way . I have had success with that setup.
  8. Well though a bit speculative I gave it a try. While considering the whole thing I wondered if it would work with any other lure companies as well so I sent requests off to seven others too...

    Odd

Hey Mike how ya been? Where's the wife? Awwww she's outside sitting in her car, yeahh she's been out there all day, I don't get it....
  12. I've used spotlighs like you've mentioned, spreader lights, and my light box. The sun seems to work best. Second best I would say would be a 110VA/C flourescent grow light as this will give the most accurate light spectrum in relation to sunlight. The black light/flourescent light gadget seems to get the job done well but the logevity of the glow on baits is not as long as the sunlight exposure. I added another light fixture to my box and it seems to do the trick for the most part. I don't think brightness seems to have a lot to do with the effectiveness of the glow baits.
  13. OK kids, OUT OF THE POOL!!! Theres work to be done...
  14. Good deal!! Keep those reports coming as I plan on going out that way for 5 days from the 9th to the 14th. Hope the fishing is good.
  15. Prefishing the afternoon & evening before an event gives me the opportunity to get the gear rigged the way I need it for the next days event. (in my case that may include unwinding the coreline from the lower unit)
  16. Maybe I should show this law to my wife.... Seems like she's always harrassing my when I go fishing...

  22. I hear that. I had to turn down the A/C today. The way cool air was disturbing the ambiance of my Margaritas. Now if the pool was done It would be perfect. Dog gone kids now days won't help with anything.. ahhh another margarita will make it better...
  23. The way gas is going up? unless I can get my boat to run on potatoe skins & corn cobs who cares...
  24. on an O/B the conversion is pretty straight forward. Most places should be able to take care of it for you. If you getting a used power head though and/or need work done on that it would be different. Not sure where you are but Hildebrands in Coldwater is great with jets.
