  1. You know what's funny about loosing fish? Is they are always the big ones:grin:
  2. Well Dan, I have always appreciated the free info you give in the form of posts. I had an interesting conversation with a buddy a few weeks back. Went something like this. Let's go ice fishing. me I'm not going unless we go with one of these guys who has been slamming them! bud What? me Not going to waste my time if I know we can't catch fish. bud It really rubbed me the wrong way. I love to catch fish as much as the next guy, however, hunting and succeeding on my own really feels great. It just goes to show you how lazy some people have become. And also how much these reports effect some people. I wouldn't solely rely on someone who I have never met to put me on fish. If we just happened to be out the same day and hooked up out there, I'm all for it. But would not plan a trip around that. I tried to explain that these guys slamming the fish have put in a lot of time and energy into figuring out where these walleye are, and noted that we need to do the same and it just doesn't happen overnight. Collectively through years of fishing we would be able to come up with several locations that we find that hold fish. So in short I understand..
  3. none over 30, all cookie cutter right around 24. Better than being bored! not much longer and we'll be fishin out of the boat@@!!!
  4. Hit a little private lake near goodrich today. 7 of us total, from 9-11 we went 17/21 on tip ups. One nice bass, probably 4#, and the rest were pike. Very cold with that wind. Funny thing about today, the majority of the pike came out of one hole?????????
  5. SWEET! Man you are tearin' em up this winter. Nice work. Keep us posted on the ice, would really like to get out with you at least one time this year. Thanks for the porn!
  6. AB will you still be fishing the bay? Or is it getting all messed up with this weather? If it's still ok I would be game to trying it again...
  7. Wet is the word. Nice going out, but very wet with a lot of standing water in a lot of places. fished 20-22fow, 4 eyes. blue/silver do jigger, pink jiggin rap. eyes were very plump 19"-22", moved around but didn't mark a lot. The wind was brutal
  8. Nice work AB. Should have my sled running by next weekend. What are your thoughts about a tag along?
  9. some of my most beat up lures outproduce some new shiny lures
  10. Hey, I think I know where that spot is:no: or shall I say I wish I knew where that spot is:grin:
  11. Hey, I think I know where that spot is:no:
  12. nothing on your line but a spoon. no flasher, spinnie, dodger, just a spoon
  13. Indeed we are Frank. I know I didn't spend nearly as much time on the water last summer, just simply could not afford too. Sorry to see gl2s disappear, I was in a few tourny's over the last few years and to say the least it was a good time with good people who have one thing in common.
  14. I concur, manistee's launch is real nice. Nice & big..
  15. Hit the same spot again today, with even better fishing. Sorted a lot of fish and ended up with 22 nice keepers. One 10" crappie also. 3 bass on tip ups and just as many threw my hole. Pan fried last weeks catch for lunch for me and the boys, YUM YUM YUM....
  16. Fished a new lake today west of Ithaca. The lake has a lot of potential as I can see. The DNR plants eyes, and the contour of the lake seems promising too. However, we only landed a few fish today. Couple of dink perch and a couple of dink gills. Did see one fella bring in about a 30" toothie. I am not discouraged as we marked fish all day, but couldn't get them to go. I will return and try it again, as I know on the right day and a good spot it will be great fishing. Ice was good. Some clear stuff underneath everything else, most clear I saw was about 5", combined with the white stuff and it was easily 8" in spots. Tight Lines...
  17. It was white, and I definitely will cut them out when I see them, b4 I cook em.
  18. I think I have recently seen small tape worms in some gills. My fishing buddy thinks it is fat deposits. However, I cut them out and they sure look like worms to me. The only questionable thing is they are in the meat and not in the guts of the fish.????? But from what I understand as long as you cook the fish thoroughly there is nothing to worry about. As far as the many walleye I harvested this summer I can only recall a handful that had any worms in them.
  19. Fished the same lake I did last weekend, and fish were there again. Not nearly as aggressive as last time, but between 4 of us we managed about 60 fish in 2 hours. One dandy pike at 36", and a few decent bass around 17". Ice was there, a little bit melted for sure since last weekend, probably around 5". COLD COLD COLD
  20. It blew my daughter's play set over, the slide was over the fence in my neighbors yard. Trash cans all over the place
  21. My sentiments exactly, spudded our way out just to make sure.
  22. I finally made it back fishing, and even have a report. Got an early start, about 9AM. Drove through driving rain down to the fishing hole. Once we were down there the rain let up. Set up in about 8fow and had good action all day. Waxies on a glow tear drop with a pink head seemed to be the best producer, close 2nd was my buddies orange forage minnow and waxy. Caught several nice bass off the tip ups, and a few on our rods. Ice was holding pretty good, but a few more days of this weather and I wouldn't be so sure about good ice. About 2PM I couldn't keep my lure in the water. I would bring one in, put the lure back down, and bring it right back up with another. This went on for 10-15 minutes, it was great. While I was catching my buddy was talking on the phone and not fishing:lol: Kept 40 gills between the 2 of us, 2 of the keepers were solid crappie. C&R a bunch of bass and generally had just a great day of ice fishing. Cleaned my catch last night, put em in a ziploc with water and onto the freezer for a meal down the road. Can not wait to go again...
