Most of the arguments i've seen that claim fracking is safe says they drill down over a mile. There is plenty of separation between the water table & the gas. Then I found out the gas in Michigan is at like 700 feet. The town in wyoming that they fracked that they found that had issues had a depth deeper than that. Anyone work in the industry? Anyone have wells on their property? Are they deep? You make good $ off of this?

Hey you guys your waaay overcomplicating this thing. I had a thread on another board regarding this, so maybe this will help out. Break the water into thirds...top third, mid third, bottom third. If you are fishing the top third, or shallow, fish a 50, 75, 100, 150 32lb copper. Mid third (like 40-60 down) fish a 200, 250 or 300. If you are catching fish deep, throw out your 350, 400, 450. It does not matter one single bit to try and estimate the exact depth of your coppers. Just stuff the active strike box with as many legal lines as you can without getting tangled...that's the game. We fish all 32lb, we just like it better. We sell 50-50 on 32lb vs 45. Whoever said the 45 and 32lb fish almost the same, you are 100% correct. If you straight line troll, no turns, constant speed, you will see exactly that result. If you turn or let your buddy drive and dont watch the throttle, your rigs are all over the place on depth so why even worry about where you might think your rigs are fishing. If you are that particular, dont turn, dont touch the throttle, and 50 foot spacing on copper rigs will cover everything in the active strike box.
Good to see you posting again. I've really enjoyed your posts in the past.

In a wheelchair & still fishing. I love it.

Can you give me a close up of the mounting/screws/bolts? Are you screwing that into a base plate like a down rigger so it can easily be removed? Or is this like the sword in the stone?

Hey if your still looking for a economical answer to this question let me know I make custom sets of these with swivel bases and have them powder coated. I make them with a 4"x4" base that will fit Big Jon bases. Let me know and I can send you some pics.
pictures & price please.

I didn't read all the responses so maybe I missed something. Why cut the stocking the same lake wide to deal with the natural reproduction in Michigan?? We don't have natural reproduction in Wisconsin so cut the stocking in Michigan and stock fish in Wisconsin to return to our rivers. 4 year old kings don't swim over to wisconsin to spawn if they hatched in Michigan rivers so one side of the lake has all the kings. Doesn't make sense to me.
They're also claiming that the bigger fish everyone is seeing now eat twice as much. So when they cut the stocking it didn't help as much as they needed & they need to cut more.

Tip #10. It adds a line onto your riggers without the need of another rod.
I'd start adding more copper/core to your collection after that.

There was some VERY detailed reports posted out of holland/port sheldon in the past week in the reports section. They included pictures of everything they were using. Did you see those? Also, are you putting sliders on those riggers?

Nothing to see here. Just trying to make conditions perfect for the Asian carp population to explode.

The 333 TV series almost everyone has is using long enough leaders that you've got to pull it in by hand.

If the EPA would get off their back, wouldn't need to spend taxpayer dollars. There is far more damage to the great lakes from agricultural run off and sewage overflows from cities but that is all OK.
Most cities with sewage overflows have it only happen during times of heavy rains. The badger pollutes as its normal business. That's a huge difference. The cities weren't designed to handle this many people and the consideration of heavy rains & overflows were overlooked. The system wasn't designed to just dump sewage into the lake every single day and currently they don't.
Many cities want this problem fixed. Its not good tourism to shut down your beaches on the 4th of July weekend because of sewage overflow! That happened in South Haven! If there was an easy fix such as slapping a new engine in a boat. They'd be all over that. Obviously its not so easy to fix sewage overflow problems. You've got to tear up every road to add a separate system to divert the rainwater or/and build a bigger waste management system. Very very expensive. It needs to be done and everyone agrees on that but it just has to be done overtime.
There is also technology that some bigger cities are setting up & testing that will re-divert waters within the system. If it rains heavy on only one part of town. It will setup gates to put water in the system where it didn't rain. This slows the flow so the sewage treatment plant can keep up a little better. Everyone is looking for the cheapest solution possible.
