This was my first copper set up and I was happy with it but it is only a starter
I ran 300' of 45lbs super copper off of xp 452. and 15' off a xp 302. I ran both with 200yrds of 40lbs braid. The only issue I had was it took me a couple of timesto get the knot small enough to fit thru the line guide on the reel.
I ran them on 6'6 MH uglysticks
I am going to be picking up 6 cv-30D fo dipsy reels and downrigger rods.

Nice deer that makes for a good start to a season.

I do know where you can get a heck of a deal on a Tekota/Heartland/Torpedo wire/tip combo though. It's in about 100' of water just north of the first set of nets off Muskegon!

I have a set of 10ft Blue Diamond roller rods I will have at the swap meet along with a bunch of extra stuff I don't use.
OK this leads me to another question I wanted to ask.
Do I need to have shorter rods for my low divers? I was looking for 8'6" or 9' rods to seperate thr to rod tips in the holders.
thanks Steve

Ok I ordered some chaimbelin relese now its on to geting my wire divers.
I am looking for some thoughts on the rods I am seting up.
I was thinking of som CV30d's with 600' and 50lbs backing.
Is there a differance between 600' and haveing 1000' spooled?
I found new gander moutain brand 8'6" M roller rods for $75
was it worth it to get these or do i need something else?
I only make out salmon fishing 1 or 2 weekends a month, as most of my time is spent walleye fishing sag bay and erie.
Thanks Steve

Dump the stackers. Too much stuff in one area. Add a diver or core/copper to replace that rod. Chamberlains or Blacks, rubber bands make a mess.
I am dumping the stackers and tring sliders next season and adding some copper/core and a diver.

Ok I am contemplating changing DR releses. I have used Off Shore ball and stacker releases that need to be replaced. I have seen some rubber band releases but are there any other good oness.
Nick, what type were you using when we were out with you.
Thanks Steve

Thanks Ken I was thinkng about reel swaping to reduce the number of rods on the boat. I have some 6'6 MH heavy Ugly sticks that I used on my copper this year. I also checked out the blood run web site and would probably get the wire from them.
I would like to try to run 2 lines per side this year.
How many rods do people run on each side?
I can run 4 per side walleye fishing w/o tangles but they are only 100' back max.
Thanks Steve

This year I ran 2 DR with stackers 20' apart. Next year I am going to try sliders to eliminate 2 rods at the back of the boat. I ran 2 124 walkers on 30lbs braid. Next year I am going to try 1 wire dive and if I can get that to work w/o tangles I get another. A 300' and a 150' copper on walleye boards. Next year i want to add a 200' & a 250'. Also I would like to get some 3 and 5 cores for spring coho since I am going to be leaving a boat in St joe for april and may next year. Also I wll try meat next year I just have to find out what and where to get it.

I miss quote dthe book it says the diver dives faster on 3 than a 2. I thought it was a typo.

tring to decide what to add to my spread next year and started getting confused when I looked at the percision trolling guide.
I have the presion big water edition and I was reading it today. According to the book a 300' 45lbs copper @ 2.0 is at about the same depth as a full core. And a 124 walker dive dives faster on the 2 setting than the 3.
On the divers I would assume that it is just a mix up of the color lines and setting. But what about the copper and core. I thought a full core was about a 150' copper.
What do you think
A full and half core run (depth)
And a 150' and 300' 45lbs copper run
Thanks Steve

What is the closest launch to lake mi. I have not been out of holland and have no idea where to launch. I can launch at a dirt ramp if there is one.
And how long of a ride is it from the dnr ramp in holland. I am heading over in nov. to try some lake steelie fishing with my dad and son.
Thanks Steve

nice fish, how long do you think they hang out off of holland. I am tring to get over that way end of the month or early nov.

Can IU run any tackle from these and what test line should I be using next year.

I have 2 riggers and I see alot of post about sliders.
What are they and how do they work?
Are they on your rigger pole or a seperate pole?
I run stackers but I am always looking for something new.

I just did today now they say it was the transducer but they have already sent a spare that did not work and the other one I bought did not work. I have installed a garmin for a finder now but I kinda want the bird to work after the cash I spent on it.
Thanks

Yeah I checked that and it was turned on.
Thanks Steve

I recently purchased a new unit for my boat. It refuse to read any depth. It has been back to bird 2 times and they have been very good with the service but they sent it back both times with a note that it works fine an the repair center.
Today this what I did to trouble shoot the unit myself to no avail.
To make sure it was not an interferance problem I sat on a dock with a 12v battery and the unit and trans ducer.
No differance
To make sure it was not a transdeucer issue I had an extra TD that I purchased for another mount.
No differance
To check the connections at the base I took the mount apart and held the power and TD plugs in place by hand.
No diifferance.
Is their something else I should be tring before I have to call them again and explain that maybe I'm just to stupid for humminbird.
Thanks Steve:confused:

I think she likes the sea swirl 21 bow rider. Salesman said it has the same hull and ride of the CC an WA. we are going for a test ride this saturday. I also see grady white and tropy has bow riders. I need to be under 21' or it won,t fit in the barn with the other toys.

I have a question about DR blow back.
I have an old old set of cannon digi trol II I thought I was up grading when I bought pancake weights to replace regular Balls. I am also running 12lbs panckaks up from 10 balls. last year I was running stacker releses and this year I'm running sliders
It still seams that I get a lot of blowback.
What is the best weights to use to reduce blow back.
Thanks Steve
