    Blackened Salmon

Very easy recipe Ingredients Salmon cut into 2inch by 2inch chunks Paul Prudhomme's blackened redfish magic seasoning butter Pre-heat a cast iron pan preferably outside (the fish gives off lots of smoke which may or may not burn your eyes from the cajun seasoning) on a propane burner until its screaming hot. Take salmon and brush with melted butter then liberally apply seasoning to all sides of fish. Place fish in pan until good and blackened then flip and do the same to other side. Then enjoy the spicy goodness that is blackened salmon. Make sure you cook extra to eat cold, its amazing both ways but I'm not sure if I like it better hot or cold.
  2. Great job at the last minute! So what kind of prizes did I miss because of work Mike?
  3. Got setup around 6pm out in 250fow lookin for the steelies everyone has been catching. Trolled for an hour and a half without a bump so we started to work our way back towards the pier heads. When we hit 180fow had a release on an old orange northport nailer spoon and boated our a 6lb steelhead. Worked into 160fow got a double on the only two downriggers we were running and my mom boated her first steelhead ever and the biggest one of the night at 8.5lbs. Then picked another up around 145fow. All in all went 4-4 all steelhead. LOTS of boats still out as we headed in around 9pm. All the fish gave us a show with lots of jumps and some tailwalkin!
  4. I know this may be a dumb question and I am fully aware there are no stupid questions, only stupid people but when people fish out of Ludington and they refer to 'the stick' what is it?!
  5. Went out last night 6:30-9:00 motored out to about 90fow through the 1-2' chop and set up on a southwest troll, out to 110fow with nothing. Turned around and headed northeast towards the pier heads. In 60fow got a release on a rigger 50 down with a siggs rigs apple glow fly behind a 8in protroll glow chartreuse flasher. Boated about a 10 to 12lb king. Marked lots of fish from 70fow all the way into the pier heads. But ended the night 1-1. So it was better than we have been doing. Seems we did better than most on the radio last night.
  6. Im really hopin so Jarod, my dad and I have been skunked 3 trips in a row now.
  7. I just hope someone would do the same if I was in that position.
  8. Good job Jim, better than we did out there. Were you north or south of the arms?
  9. Got out to 110 fow and started setting up lines around 6:30. Put down a flasher/fly combo, j-plug and various spoons. We washed baits until probably 8:30 when we realized there were only 2 boats out there and there was probably 15. So we figured we should pull lines because of the rain coming. So we pack up and head in when we saw someone flashing us with a light. So we pull up and there was a guy and his younger son who's boat was dead in the water and the lake was getting choppy VERY quickly. So we hooked up his boat in 110 fow and towed him all the way back with our 18 footer in the rain. Took us about 45 mins and luckily he was going to snug harbor so we didnt have to go across Muskegon Lake. Hope everyone had a lot better luck than us and our passengers who we took in because they didn't catch a fish either.
  10. I'll be out of Muskegon tonight too, leavin in about 40 mins. Good luck Justtrollin! Will be Jose on the radio.
  11. Awesome job bro! Gives me some hope for next time I make it out.
  12. Great job. Better than us, we went 0-0 in 4 hours last night!
  13. I just wish the sheriff or coast guard had the resources to require a yearly boat safety inspection, but sadly I don't see that happening. At least in Muskegon, the sheriff is usually off the water at or earlier than 9:30. But next time I see someone without lights on I am definatly going to say something, for my safety and the safety of everyone else out on the water.
  14. So me and my buddy were doing some walleye fishing last night and we came across TWO boats out on the water without any navigation lights! This was not right after dark either, it was right around midnight. Then as we were trolling one of the boats just passed across our bow and made us change course when they were the ones from my understanding that should have been changing course. We even pulled our lines so as not to hook their lines. I really had to hold back not to yell something at them. It's idiots like that who are going to get someone killed not having lights on their boats. So I just wanted to remind everyone to be EXTRA safe out there at night, you never know when there is going to be a boat out there without nav lights. Have you guys ever come across boats without nav lights?
  15. good forsight on the weather Mike. Its quite the thunderstorm right now. I would not have liked to get caught in this...
