  11. Hello Everybody, Sign up for the 11th Annual Dreamweaver Charity tourney is now open. For those of you who have never heard of this tourney here is a little history. Years ago the West Michigan Fishing League started this tournament as a fun tournament where everyone has to fish with the same lures. It made it fun for guys just starting out. Whether you have a 16 foot tiller or a 30+ Tiara the playing field is leveled out for everyone. Included in your entry fee is a Captains Pack that includes your lures for the tournament. This will include spoons, a plug, spinnies, flies, whirly gig, and this year a meat rig along with a pack of meat strips. The Captains pack alone is worth well over the $75 entry fee. The tournament experienced so much success that back in 2008 we partnered with Benefit 4 Kids (B4K) and turned it into a Charity tournament. Over the past 10 years we have raised over $100K and sent 11 life limited kids and their families on outdoor adventures ranging from houseboat trips to Alaskan Brown Bear hunts! B4K and The Dreamweaver Charity tournament are 100% volunteer organizations. Every single dollar raised from the tournament goes directly to B4K This years tournament is again being held at Fisherman's Landing Campground in Muskegon Mi. Saturday July 28,2018. Please see the following rules on the tournament and how to sign up. If you have any questions please feel free to PM me or e-mail me at [email protected]. Please keep your comments at a PG rating. This is a family orientated event. You may ONLY use the lures provided in the lure pack. If you lose a lure you are down a lure, no replacing the lure with a like lure in your boat. No adding scent. No alterations of the lures (exception, line on the fly and changing hooks if they become unusable). ANY PORT ON LAKE MICHIGAN IS OPEN TO FISH. Fishing starts no earlier than 5:00 AM, there is no stop time HOWEVER a team representative must be in line with fish for weigh-in by 1:00 PM at Fisherman’s Landing, Muskegon. Three-man DNR fish limit MAX per boat. Weigh 5 fish of the following kind (King, Coho, Steelhead, Browns, and Lakers). Each fish is worth 10 points plus weight. Know what your big fish is. You get 1 chance to weigh your big fish. All captains/representatives must sign a waiver form prior to getting their lure packages. A representative will be in the Fisherman’s Landing Pavilion from 4:30 AM to 5:00 AM (day of tournament). NO EXCEPTIONS! Lure packages will also be available Friday at the Fisherman’s Landing Campground. Park in the boat launch parking lot and walk into the campground please. To cancel you MUST email ([email protected]) or call Tom Andris directly. (Phone numbers will be given to captains). We will not be issuing a cancellation of tournament. Each captain is responsible for their boat and crew. In the event of inclement weather if no boats weigh fish, big fish money will be donated to charity and a raffle will be held in the pavilion at 1:00 PM. June 1st is the deadline to have entry fees in, this is because we have to order the lures and put the packages together. If you have signed up but not paid by the deadline date your spot will not be guaranteed. Any boat that pays the entry fee prior to May 1st will receive 5 extra raffle tickets in their captain’s pack. Please make checks out to Tom Andris with Dreamweaver Charity Salmon Tourney in the notes section. This tournament will be limited to the first 50 Paid boats. We will have a waiting list in case of cancellations or non-payment.
  12. Lines down at 8 and up at 11:30. Had my 16ft river boat so the 1-3's this morning made it a bit stumbly in the boat. Set down by the pump station and stayed within a mile of it. Water temp was 36-36.8. River water was 42. Wind out of the SW. All flat lines. 13-18 all 18-21 inch coho. Threw back 3 small guys. Couple on orange or red thin fins. Couple on brown trout rapala. 1 on a Jr Flutter devil.. Stars of the day were 3.0 mag lips in Metallic orange flame and Copper mine. Took 9 of the hits. Could have limited earlier but after realizing the coho were thick we tried the beach for a while for browns. Lots of nets flying. Ramps still not in at Benton Harbor. All ramps in at St Joe
  13. Actually got hit by a gaff Martin. I use one on bigger fish when I'm solo. Hell of a lot easier to maneuver. Only drawback is them damn things are dangerous. Stuck myself this morning just below the calf and had a pretty good bleeder. Thank goodness I have a med kit on board or I might have had to rush in.
  14. Montague 8-7AM Lines down at 630 up at 930. 4-4 all Kings. 18, 14, 8 and 6lbs. All bites between 630 and 8. Best water was 120-130. Dipsey out 180 with green spinny and green squid took 2 GFT Midnight special down 80 on rigger took 1 Green flasher and green meat rig down 100 took 1 Lots of bait 100-120 down and marks working the bait early then at 8 it all dried up. Marked one more pod of bait and a couple more fish but no action. Spawn sacs were pretty ripe
  15. Whitehall 7-30 AM Fished 6-12 12 for 22 with 5 ho's 4 Steel 1 King 2 Lakers 100-160 fow. All presentations took hits. Hottest setup was std blue dolphin on a 150cu. 0 hits on any troll with S in it. Ended up about 7 miles N of the piers
  16. There seems to be some confusion on that because in inland waters and streams that is how the regs read. On Lake Mi you can keep up to 5 per person in any combo no more than 3 of any one species except king, coho, pink. You can keep 3 lake trout in MM6-8 which is basically Arcadia south to Indiana. 2 per person North of there. So yes you can keep 5 trout
  17. PS 7-25PM Took my son out for the first time since early June. Lines down at 5:30 up at 9:30. 4 for 8. 3 kings 17,15,4 lbs and a 5lb greaser. Lost a small steel on a free slider at the back of the boat and 3 hit and runs on a meat rig down 65-75. Crazy as the meat was gone or tore up each time so I know it wasn't false releases. 90-100fow is where we took all our hits. Free slider on a rigger 52 down 2-3 Blue paddle blue head meat rig down 65-75 0-3 Dipsey out 150 meat rig 1-1 Dipsey out 150 SD w/ squid 1-1 Great night with no flies and no fleas
  18. Yup there is room to park along side the road across from the launch. Used to be quite common when the launch was a lot busier years ago.
  19. That is exactly why I run 30lb big game. My riggers are almost always one of my more active setups so I don't think the larger line has any ill effects on bites.
  20. Nice job. My son and I did a quick mid afternoon trip. Kind of a low stress training trip for him getting to run the boat and all the lines. As we were leaving the dock around 930 a guy was coming in solo with 5 fish. Said he was in the 145 area. Motored out there and bumped around the different slicks marking a good amount of fish but no takers. Finally picked up a shaker on a jawbreaker free slider down 45. Around 1230 we took a nice 11lb king on a stinger Invite down 62 on a rigger in 125fow. Spoon has been my king killer this spring. While landing him we got the slider caught in the kicker prop so I called it a day. When we arrived at the launch in the AM I smelled that awful grease burning smell of smoked bearings. Lucky it had got us to the launch. Of course all my tools were at the house so after we pulled the boat I drove 40 min to Grandville trailer with the hub and they got it set back up in 5 minutes. Long day for 3 hours of fishing but the boy got some much needed practice and I was pretty happy with how much he had retained from past trips
