  1. Thanks Erik and welcome to GLF. I always wondered why they never had a webcam at St Joe, pretty busy port. Same deal with city pointing at many other cams too:rolleyes:.

Mike is there any way you could add that to the button up top? I really enjoy the quicklinks button up top for a quick view of the lake.;)

  2. Ahhh..... yeah thats asking a little bit too:confused::grin: much. I dont think i would phrase a question like that to one of my good buddies. I mean come on. I probably woulda answered with a response sending them to coordinates near Canada. That cracks me up, does he want you too help go tinkle out there also? At least he said thanks.

  3. Not sure exactly which cameras ya looking for but up top there is a link to webcams that are located around the great lake. Some only run in summer but i keep checking daily to see when its gonna bust open. I use these to check realtime wave conditions in summer too.No st joe cam that i am aware of:(. There is a new buffalo one but i think its off for winter still. Wont open for me.

  4. I took a few hours today to read some of my Keatings, man..though he says Salmon Fishing isn't rocket science, it sure as heck seems like it. Light line, wire line, stelth setups, heavy tackle setups,Water column, Thermocline, Negative Kings, positive Kings.....When did it come to all this.????

I am buying into this program, but Darnnnn.....OK anymore advice, I'm open to it all....and Nailer, your the greatest... Love your advice and the video's you send me.....keep them coming.

I think it only took me a day:) I am looking to apply some of the tips/tricks and slowly try some others during tough/slow times when my standard program is not working. Looking at how each part of presentation affects each other was big thing i took out of it. Very good book in my opinion. Have fun, thats what its all about. Totally agree with Boomerang about working on the water. It will get easier. Ecept for dealing with snow and hard water:angry2:

  5. I switched over to superline last year and love it.I just picked up a 1000yd spool of 30# Ripcord in Cabelas Bargain Cave for $39. Using it for my dipsies and backing fo core.Pretry good price compared to other braids and have heard nothing but positive comments about it.;) Wish i could help on depth curve of Dacron:confused:.

  6. Never even fished with an 11" flasher. dont own one but might pick up 1 or 2 for running deep on wire dipsy or rigger. Any particular colors better as it seems most are running these quite deep compared to 8" flashers? Always something new to try.:P:D

  7. Yes We should have a webpage up by the end of Feb. We have some new colors and we will have coho flies for this upcoming season. If anyone is wondering where they can see the full line we will be at D&R Sports Center in Kalamazoo on March 7 for there salmon days.

Thanks for the call Maniac and we will be hitting stores up and down the lake michigan coast this upcoming month. Any questions or if you would like to order some flies please contact Tim at 248-863-7521.

  8. Good luck. I grew up in Bay City, parents live in Kawkawlin still. Cant catch walleye to save my life over here but salmon fishing is great. Usually come back in the early summer to fishem. Never saw a laketrout come out the bay. Closest was prob Au Gres. Thats pretty cool. One of my buds from BC got a 34" laker perch fishin at Lk. Simcoe. :rolleyes:Good deal and glad to see ur slayin em. :D

  9. dont feel bad, i thought i saw a sturgeon on the lake superior state fish cam and i did.....but i also found they move the camera indoors to thir fish tank in winter! lol! [not in the river] i was red faced, and my wife laughed at me!

I remember that but thought same at first . Boltman ya must be reading Keating, he describes what it is later. I was wondering same thing at first.:)

  10. God I can't wait for my Keating on Kings to get here.
That is the most usefull tool you have to target fish. .

I just started into Keating, got it Saturday, and much of what he talks is bottom structure and bait for finding fish. A fishfinder will greatly help with this and usually u can get one with temp sensor. I waited til i found one on sale and ended up with Hummingbird with temp for $200 plus the GPS for another $100. The GPS does not have map just grids and my waypoints, tracks, Speed, and compass. Its very nice for night and in fog. If u have a GPS already, U can pick up a fishfinder w/ temp for pretty reasonable price.

A few Church Walleye Boards will let u fish shallows in spring as well as leadcore, copper, and flatlines in summer and fall. I used to fish 5-10fow in Lake Huron and let me tell ya catching a big brown or steelie that shallow is awesome, they can only go up! No need for the finder until later unless unfamiliar with shoreline, ie rocks, depths, etc.

Never fished up in ur ports but some great action on Cohos down here in sping. Last year was my first try at them and my buddy and I limited out on them my 1st trip out. As others have said, I believe more steelies and browns up ur way. Good Luck and enjoy Keating on Kings:grin:

  11. I just started last year and I only have a 16 footer. No riggers for me (Yet) and i used nothing but leadcore and dipsy diver slast year. Did very well on leadcore just getting started and love it. The shorter coreare easier on the arm and my most productive was a 6 color. I usually only run 6 rods on my boat with 4 being leadcore. I got skunked 1 time last year during my first season. I found the core easy to fish. I would like to add more colors this year along w/ riggers, wire dipsy, and copper. Leadcoe is cheapest way to get rolling in my opinion. I also just got Keating on Kings for my birthday on 1/17. :D Seems vey good so far. After deer season I am just stuck in salmon mode.:help::diablo:
