Hit the lake again tonight. Had my sister and dad with me. Heard a report that fish were 130-180. We found ours in 135- 160 fow. Speed was 2-2.25 at the ball on sw and ne trolls. Finished the evening 5 for 8. Lost a couple of real nice steelies doing aerials for us.

Here's what worked:

Sigg's Brushed Stainless fly on crome blue sd rigger 90 dn- 4 hits - 2 fish

BLL Black glo screwball 150 copper- 2 hits - 1 fish

Craig's Christmas 4 cl-1 fish

UV Crabface dipsy 150 bk- 1 fish

Fishing seems to be picking up a little.

Headed out to 120 trolled ssw out to 145 only hit was a laker that came unbuttoned 10 ft from the boat. Reversed the troll and hooked a steelie that promptly spit the spoon out. Took a rip on another rod and was gone in two cranks of the handle. Not looking good. Had two major tangles and a snag with a break off (might have hooked the wreck). Finally got fish in the boat 90-100 fow, not a bait pod in sight. Finished 2 for 5.

Here's what worked:

Craig's Christmas 4cl- steelie lost

Smashmouth dn 80- laker lost

UV Flounder pounder 300 copper- took a rip

BLL Blk glo screwball 150 copper- 2 coho

Take him fishing with you. No better way than seeing it in person.

Anyone running a 450 copper, I'm curious what reels you are using. What do your have for backing and what lb copper are you running? Thinking about setting one up, so any info is appreciated.

Dad and I decide to give it a shot after getting shut out on Sat. evening. We headed out from the peir heads around 6pm. Set lines in 120 fow heading nnw 6:36 we hit our first fish and by 7:05 the lake was getting 3 footers. We took 4 fish. Speed 2.25-2.5 at the ball. All steelhead.

Here's what worked:

Pickled sunshine behind a white flasher on rigger 90 dn- took 2

UV Blue Dolphin on dipsy 180 back on 1.5- took 1

Smashmouth on rigger 80 dn- took 1

It was fun, but short. Hopefully the north wind will blow some cold water our direction.

Headed out yesterday afternoon for some fishing. Setup in 80 fow heading south. Made several passes going north and south right straight out in front of the piers. Had a little rain but nothing substancial. Ended 6 for 8 mostly steelhead. Here's what worked:

Hybrid Yogurt Fly on wire diver 150 back set on 1.5- 2 fish

Green dolphin on rigger 85 dn- 1 fish

Mongolian Beef on 150 copper- 2 fish

Craig's Christmas on 4 color - 1 fish

Spoons were stingerStandard size except for the green dolphin. Took our first 20 lb King Sorry no digital scale so someone better have a bigger fish for the BLL Big fish contest or I'm going to be A LITTLE Unhappy.

Anyway, Thanks to Ken(Nailer) for the advice after not seeing the big lake for almost a month.

Thanks everyone. When I fished in May fishing was best 150-200. I didn't want to run out there if it wasn't worth it. Hopefully I'll be post some good info the next few weeks.

OK, I haven't fished the big lake since Memorial Day weekend. I've read many of the posts but I'm looking for an update. Have the fleas arrived yet? How have the flies been? How's the fishing been? What's working? I looked at the weather today and noticed a pretty windy forcast for the next few days, so I suppose things are going to change. I'll be up Thursday morning and hope to be fishing in the evening, and any suggestions on where to start would be appreciated.

I have a bunch of silver horde plugs that I'm thinking of selling. They are in good shape, but many don't have hooks. Would you rather purchase plugs with hooks or would you change them anyway so it wouldn't matter? What do you think the plugs are worth, $2-$4 each?

Fished out of Grand Haven for the first trip of the season. We fished a lot of water throughout trip but the most productive for us was the 110-120 fow. Speed was 2.0- 2.25 at the ball. Most fish came on a north-south troll, but no real pattern to the lure.

We took two on a rigger, 100 down, green dolphin- 5#, 8#

Two more taken on 45#copper, glow firedog JP Slammer- 13#, 12#

Another on a rigger, 90 down, BW meat rig- 11#

And the weird one of the day- while reeling in the 10 color, about half way in, mongolian beef- 5#

6 for 6, All Kings. Super day on the water, except for those pesky little flies.

Something else weird, we saw fish out around 230 fow skimming just under the surface feeding on minnows. They went right through the spread. I think that's what are fish on the mongolian beef was doing.

If we through out a flat line do you think we would have picked up a couple more??????

The only station I know of is at the pier by the charter boats. It says that the public can use it but only during certain times. Now that was several years ago, I don't know if they changed that policy or not. I know it has been mentioned serveral times that the launch on the river could use one, but as of last year, no station.

I have 5 Penn 320 GTI reel for sale. All the reels have been cleaned, serviced and are in good working order. All have carbon fiber drags. Some have line on them, but it should be changed. The clicker on #4 does not want to leave the "on" postion from time to time.
