ekbelt Posted March 13, 2012 Share Posted March 13, 2012 I've been heading down to the New Buffalo/Michigan City area now for 3 years. I've gone offshore a handful of times (10-15 miles north) 150-200fow and from past experience we do from good to excellent out there but thats typically in April. Anyone who's been fishing that are for awhile... is offshore typically a safe bet always? I'm heading down on March 24th depending on the weather and was thinking about skipping the beach and heading out. I've also done really well on the beach (10-20 fow) although I have had a few trips fishing in tight where the water was really dirty and only got a few fish. EdB Posted March 13, 2012 Share Posted March 13, 2012 I'd stay inside this time of year. The coho's are starting and that is where they will be now. Limits are coming in Indiana and Illinois. Offshore sets up when the water inside warms up and temp breaks form betweem the wamer water inside and cold water in the middle of the lake. Good luck.
