  1. Fished 70 to 145 with 80-90 good at first light and then finished in the 135-145 range. Lines in at 6 and out at 10:30. We went from 7:15 to 9:00 without a bump and then pulled them at 10:30 with a 7 for 13 tally. Both the NBK Stinger and Moonshine Blue Flounder where good. 30-40 down on the riggers and fullcores were the ticket. Depth raider decided not to turn on this morning so i have no idea about downspeed but surface was only 2.4.

  2. Sorry for the late report but the home computer decided to go boom last friday.

Fished 90 to 180 with 160 to 175 being best about half way between Holland and Port Sheldon. Finished the day 13 for 17 with 7 kings, a coho, 4 lakers and 1 steelie. Most productive spoon was a pink panties (ran 2) down 80' foot taking 4 fish and a full core taking 2. All the Lakers where taken on a Problem Child Big Weenie fly fished from 155 to 175 down on the riggers. This fly rocks as I probably took 4 lakers all of last year lol.

  3. The forecast they used for Saturday's decision was incorrect. Thay made the right call on Saturday witht the predicted 25 to 35 knot winds. Sunday was wrong again as they called for winds to diminish. Still, they shouldn't have fished. Use a delay or cancel the tourney all together. Yes people would be mad but it better to deal with that than the bad press of a sunken tourney boat.

  4. Take 31 south to Port Sheldon Rd (traffic signal). Turn right. Take Port Sheldon to Butternut Dr (about 3 or 4 miles, I think it is the first and only stop sign) and turn right again. Butternut Drive will take you right to the launch on the left hand side of the road just after you go over the bridge by pigeon lake (about 3 miles). You will go past Gold Coast Outfitters and a TOTAL gas station. If you hit the power plant you've gone too far. Probably a shorter way but I know this one will get you there if no one else chimes in. Hope the weather holds out for ya,

    Mike

  5. The boat is still in storage so I can't say for sure yet on any of that. I do remember that I did put some plywood backer underneath that though. If I remember right it had a weird angle under the gunnel though. Mybe another week and I'll get it out of storage so's I can tinker a bit.

How close to the riggers is to close?

  6. Make sure it is a roll and not a dart back and forth motion. In my opinion the roll should be the size of a football and go twice a second or maybe a little slower for kings and about once a second for lakers. Can't remember where I picked that up (somewhere on the net) but it works for me.

Dough...Softball not Football...The roll should be the size of a softball. Sheesh. I swear this winter is fryin' my brain.

  7. Bill,

I thought it was one of those combos. I bought three of them last year as well and I caught all of 1 fish with them (whiile prefishing for a tourney). Do you think the fact that I ran only 1 one, one time all summer, had anything to do with it? I'll have to try that one this year.

  8. Bill,

You need to be a little carefull when Launching in Frankfort. Stay in the middle launches and watch the graph. You can't go directly from the launch to the Municiple. You need to go out and around to avoid the shallows (basically a big horseshoe).

  9. Welcome to the site Bill. Yes, I get my daily fix of fishing questions of this site as well. Was great meeting you on Saturday. I'm lookin' forward to Caz's tourney but I think you'll be doing the Ludington torney then. If you do decide to do the Benzie Tourney let me know. I'll be prefishin the weekend before and the Thursday, Friday before as well.

  10. Make sure it is a roll and not a dart back and forth motion. In my opinion the roll should be the size of a football and go twice a second or maybe a little slower for kings and about once a second for lakers. Can't remember where I picked that up (somewhere on the net) but it works for me.

  11. I have only used whole herring. I think it is going to be hard to find pre-packaged strips this year as I have heard that rhys davis and Fish-On are both discontinuing the pre made strips. Sounds easy enough to make your own though. If you plan on using the whole herring make sure you get the Super Magnum bait heads.
