  1. I still run glow squid behind a flasher or dodger, mostly on a Dipsy. If you think about it, it's not all that much different than a fly. The action imparted by the flasher and the glow combination make a killer presentation in low light conditions. We also run glow squid teasers ahead of out meat rigs. The glow squid is a cheap effective bait, that gets overlooked. The squids see a lot of action in the salt waters also. I have been running them for years. Sometimes old stuff gets put on the shelf to make way for the new.:) There are a couple of places on eBay that sell them cheap.:)

  2. I have an older LMS-350 Lowrance GPS Sonar combo that still does the job. I think it's about 15 years old. I probably should upgrade, but I'm dinosaur myself. :)

Oh! I just notice this is your first post. A warm welcome to you Paul. If you get a chance, post a little about yourself in the welcome forum. Let us know if you need any help.

  3. LMAO Cazz. I been wanting to add some trees, and the guy that welded them talked me into doing it this year. I did the cutting and fitting on his and mine and he welded them. They are nice for boards and I may even run my high divers in the lower ones.:)

  4. I run harnesses behind inline boards and if I'm targeting the 30 foot range at about 1.5 MPH or less I would be back about 50 55 with 2 oz bouncers. Best bet is to let it back slowly and when you first feel it tick bottom bring it up slightly if you are targeting the bottom. If you want to be up 10 ft off the bottom you may have to reel in about 15 ft of line to take into account the angle of the line. I don't usually think of how far down the walleye are, I put my hat on backwards and think how far up from the bottom they are. I seldom run inline weights or snap weights with harnesses. Most of the time you will find the eyes suspended just off bottom, but at times they will be anyplace in the water column. :) This method has the lines not far out and about at a 45 degree angle. Most of the times this works well, but at times a lighter weights and farther back offers a different presentation. Everyone finds a method that works well for them. With walleye speed is very critical. Sometimes pulling harnesses we will be around 0.8 MPH. I tie my own harnesses and make them 4 or 5 ft long. I'm going to be trying some 1 and 2 oz Dive Bombs this year. The Stinger reps told me to expect about one and a half times more depth per oz using the DBs. I wish they would come up with a dive curve. Like always, "Find out what they want and give em lots of it".:)

A fishing buddy and I just made two four rod Bird Trees for the Priority1. I just counted the rod holders on the boat, and she totals 38, including the rocket launcher and downriggers. I may remove 8 homemade ones that came on the boat, and I'm not fond of. We made the Trees out of 7/8 & 2 inch 304 S.S. Tubing. We also had to make the S.S. brackets to fasten it to the gunwales and the hardtop. The trees will swivel to point towards the stern for traveling.

This project was why I was MIA for the last couple of days. We went and got Joe's boat out of storage and made a 4 rod holder for his 19 Starcraft. I will pull my boat out of the garage soon and check things out at home. I'll probably Launch in AuGres, sometime next week. The AuGres River is open, and the DNR Launch has 1 dock installed.
