  1. I run slide divers also but they just won't go as deep as a dipsey.
  2. Went out of Holland yesterday morning, ended up 4/6. Got out EARLY and set up in 90'. Trolled west out to 175' when a rigger 75' down went off with a nice king on a Moonshine Moonshine. The fish ended up getting into a wire diver and got off at the back of the boat. Trolled out to 210' and turned around. Heard a lot of radio chatter that they were hammering them in 110'. Apparrently we started too early and over shot the fish. Trolling in east we took a king in 175' on a wire dipsey 250' w/ a chrome/green spinnie and green glow fly. Trolled into 100' before turing back out all the way to 200' again. Headed back east and hit a double in 140' ft. 1 king on a Mag Blue Dolphin 100' down on a rigger. And 1 real nice laker on a wire diver 225' back on a mountain dew SD/mirage fly. The laker was well over 10 lbs. and was released. Trolled back in to 100' and headed back out to 175' Turned around and took a hit in 135' on a rigger 100' down. The rubber band didn't break, fish might have been on the slider, and it got off. Made the same loop in to 100' and out to 175' and then back east. Started pulling lines in 100' when a full core w/ chrome/blue/orange tiger pattern went off. This ended up being a 5-6 lb. laker that was also released. I had a tough day, overshooting the fish, tangling 2 wire divers, and tangling a wire dipsey and 7 color core, also losing a SD/fly and spoon. At leat the weather was nice! Now the boat is being out away.
  3. My 3 most consistent were probably: 1. Kevorkian 2. NBK 3. Mixed Veggies
  4. I don't run as much glow as other people but when I do they are usually Moonshine. They are very durable and seem to glow longer than others.
  5. Happy B-Day Caz!! You should ask your wife for one of those bottomless beers you like so much.
  6. Here's a little srewdriver hint. Get one of those screwdrivers that the shaft comes out and has a phillips on one end and flat on the other. It definitely comes in handy. Mine also has 2 different sizes of each kind of end. Saves from having 2 screwdrivers and all are easily available.
  7. I'm going to winterize the boat but it will still be available. So I might be in depending on the date. Nick
  8. But not quite as good as yours Phil:D. Congrats on a great season!
  9. I'd like to start off by thanking Rich, Larry, and everyone else for all of the hard work they put into these tournaments. I'd also like to thank all of the guys that fish in these. You make it fun and enjoyable whether I'm catching fish or not. The help that I have received has definitely helped me improve as a fisherman. This is my first full year salmon fishing and a large part of my success was due to the information I received from you guys. So thanks everyone. Here's my report: I got a hot tip from Redeye and Caz that the fishing was best out deep so we headed northwest out of the pierhead to 90 ft. Set lines in the pitch black night and headed west. In 125' we noticed a line of clutter on the graph 90' down. Lowered one rigger down thinking it might be a temperature break. 10 minutes later that deep rigger with a green blade/double crush glow SD and green Bugeye fly fired. (King) As my brother-in-law fought that fish I lowered the other rigger down and before the first fish was in the boat the 2nd rigger w/ a Moonshine Do De K fired. (King) We landed both of those fish, reset the riggers and let the dipsey's way back to get them deep. The rigger w/ the Do De K fired again and we landed that fish (King) before both dipsey's ended up going. One dipsey had a Blue Bubble SD/Blue Hypnotist Sigg's Riggs Fly back 225' on 3 (Laker) and the other had an 11" White Pro-Troll double fish scale flasher w/ Green Crinkle Sigg's Rigs fly back 275' on 3. (King) I changed out the rigger w/ the flasher/fly to a chrome/redhead J-plug and left both riggers set 100-110' down. We took another fish on the Blue Bubble combo (King) and one on the Do De K (King), the fish on the Do De K mangled the spoon, knocking all of the white paint off. I reset that rigger w/ a Bloody Nose Dalmation Moonshine after we took a steely on a full core w/ a Mixed Veggie. The chrome J-plug took a fish that broke off near the back of the boat, taking the plug and everything else w/ it. We reset it w/ a plain chrome J-plug and set it back down. The Moonshine rigger took a hit but it came unbuttoned right away. When we pulled it in I checked the hook and it was dull and mangled, should have checked it before I put it down. After that the chrome J rigger went off and we landed a coho to finish our day. All of our fish came between 125-195' of water, 100' down on riggers and 225'+ back on dipsey's, plus the steely on the full core. All on a south, southwest, or southeast troll. I'm going to winterize the boat but keep it handy in case I get the chance at one more trip. I had a great season ending up with 80 fish on 15 trips. Thanks again to all of the people that made this season great and hope to see everyone next year. Nick
  10. I'd be interested Mike. One of my friends fishes out of Harrisville and I've been meaning to get up there and fish. Besides, it's probably closer for me.
  11. Here's a couple of tests one of my friends did on glow spoons: http://www.fishlander.com/NewsArticle.asp?ID=8 http://www.fishlander.com/NewsArticle.asp?ID=12 They might help. Good Luck! Nick
  12. Good Job Phil! I think that we are going to fish tomorrow afternoon. I'll try to post a report.
  13. Ditto on the Ande. 17# on riggers and 50# for fly leaders and dipsey leaders. I lost 2 flasher/fly setups last year when my 25# leader broke. I figure the fish are focused on the flasher and fly, they won't be scared of a little line.
  14. Great job on the fish Brek! See you're getting ready for this weekend:D
  15. I haven't seen these Mike but if it's a glow plug I would stay away from it. I heard that none of LJ glow J-Plugs that were made this year glowed. The last time I was in GM and Jay's I checked and I couldn't find one that glowed. I bought Silver Horde and Lyman plugs instead.
  16. Nice fish Brek! Good thing you're better at catching fish than reading a calendar. (Pretty sure today is the 3rd:D)
  17. Nice boat but not quite what I'm looking for. Thanks and good luck. Nick
  18. I know that the deep side of the first trap net north is in 150'. I saw a guy almost take out a buoy on our way in during the Dreamweaver. They were marked very clearly.
  19. Good job Brek! We will be on our annual charter trip to Ludington this weekend then back to Muskegon next weekend. I'll have to see if the fishing is any good up north:D Nick
  20. Where are you located? Any pictures? What kind of power plant does it have? Thanks in advance. Nick
  21. Bluedevil Quote: "Nothing to worry about is right Nick. I never seem to do well in this event. Not sure if it is because of the dreamweaver lures (that I dont run at all out side of this tourny) or if it is just that I dont know Muskegon very well. But hey its still fun and I dont mind giving my money to people I know rather to some big shot charter captain that got to pre fish for a week ahead of a tourny" Must be Matt was trying to stay on the downlow so he could clean up in the tourney. Nobody will be feeling sory for you next year. Good Job Matt! Nick
  22. The other week we took steelies on NBK's and a green/white/yellow/bloody nose Magna Dyne spoon. If they're around they'll hit a lot of different spoons and baits, just have to find them. Listen to Sea-Mac, he caught a monster the other week.
