  1. I'm a Quality and Gage Technician for Dana Corp. in St. Johns. We make piston rings, I do as little as possible.
  2. Yeah, we had one day of reeling and resettting, then we started tying them off with rubber bands so if they release they don't slide down the line. Then you only have to reel in to the board, reset, and let them back out. It's a lot better than reeling in a full core.
  3. Don't worry about it Wayne, I accomplished almost everything I wanted to on saturday. I had never fished St. Joe before but now I know where the launch is and how to get out to the lake. Now I'm confident that when I see reports of fish being hammered in St. Joe I can hop in the truck, head down and not catch fish on my own. I don't need help for that. One thing that I learned is I will keep setting my planer boards to release. Then I'll have to think of new, more creative ways to let fish off. Thanks for letting me tag along. How did you do the rest of the weekend? Thanks for the ride Steve, I'm glad to have made it home awake. I'd like to add that I was glad for the perch addition, at least we got to catch some fish.
  4. Blew the day off work and fished Holland this morning. All I have to say is "waves 1 foot or less" my butt. Ended up 3/4, 2 kings and a steelhead. 1st King: Glow Michael Jackson 75' back on mag dipsey on 0 in 70 ft. 12lbs. 2nd King: Mixed Veggie on a half core 70 ft. 8lbs. Steelhead: Mixed Veggie on a half core 60 ft. 8lbs. Miss: Bloody Nose rigger 50' down 70 ft. Dropped lines in 45', fished out to 130' Heard reports on our way home of fish caught in tight 35' Tight Lines
  5. Fished out of Holland this morning. Started setting lines in 50 ft. of water due to a fishfinder malfunction. My partner set lines while I got it repaired. Took first fish in about 70 ft. on a Mixed Veggie on a full core. Only had about 30 ft. of the leader out when the fish hit. 5# King. Nothing else for a couple hours. Last 2 fish came in 160’-170’ water on pearl flasher/green fly 60’ down on a rigger. 3-4#’s. North/ northeast troll. 4ish more releases, all on same flasher/fly, no hookups. One rip on Double Orange Crush on a half core while netting another fish but nothing there. Marked a ton of fish but no takers. Great day on the water with a sunburn to prove it!
  6. I wonder if Cabela's has them. I have to go to Taylor for a wedding tomorrow and I'm not fishing until Sunday. Clare is kind of a drive just for fish to use to catch fish:D
  7. Does anyone know if there is anyplace to buy the herring strips in Lansing? Or do I have to go to the store and buy some fish? Thanks in advance. Nick
  8. I already ordered 2 leadcore set-ups from them. Now I'm just trying to get the boat set-up. Thanks though.
  9. I went and looked at a few FF this afternoon and decided that color is important. They were a lot easier to read. Anyone have any recommendations for color FF's around $400.00?
  10. I am looking to purchase a new fish finder. I have 2 hand held GPS units so I don't need one equipped with GPS. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is color important? What about 3-D? I was hoping to keep the cost around $400.00 I would love to hear some opinions before dropping the kind of cash these things cost.
  11. I am looking for 2 leadcore and 2 dipsey rod and reel combos. Going to start salmon fishing and looking for reasonably priced gear to start out. Thank You.
  12. Fished Holland saturday going 3/3, laker and 2 coho. Laker off the rigger first thing in the morning. First coho on a red/silver/green body bait off a planer board. 2nd coho off the rigger on a Krocodile. All fish in 20-30 ft. of water. Great day on the lake.
  13. My brothers, dad and I go on a charter every year with Ed Stell out of Ludington. He's a great guy and an excellent captain. You can do as much as you want and we learn more every year. Mainly it's just a good time.
  14. No Matt I didn't. I over slept on Sunday morning. I'm debating on heading back up to Higgins on friday or up to the Manistee for some steelies. Either way I'm fishing for trout on friday.
  15. Hey, Just heard about this site from Rat City Hooker this weekend and I though that I'd check it out. See a few familiar names on here. Anyplace that I can find info on fishing is a good place.
