  1. The Tipsey Toad was good! I know how hungry I was and I thought for sure you guys were going to beat me down for my burger untill yours came. That rough water sure does work up an appetite. I almost ate that GIANT Lampray we hauled in before we got to the tavern, I have a picture to prove it, I'll post up tomorrow when I get the pic from my buddy.
  2. Nice catch Don, did you totaly lose your probe or just break it? Sometimes you have to get back to basics and rely on your intuition.
  3. Heres my weekend breakdown. I will try and remember the best I can but its hard to remember everything cause I was working on about 7hrs sleep for 3 days. Saturday AM- Fished from 7-11:30 in 100-120fow on the north nets out of port. I had a couple of rookies aboard and battled 4ft+ waves. We ended up 3 for about 7 or so with biggest king 14lb 10oz comming on a wire diver 140 back with a blue bubble spin doctor and mirage purple fly. Rest came on on downriggers 90 down and 70 down. Modified blue dolphin worked best. Saturday PM- Fished for about an 1.5hrs and were just happy the lake finally layed down and I was able to do some more scouting and plugged in more net locations. We went 3 for 7 or so with a laker on a killer dolphin down 95. We made it out to 140-150 and the graph was loaded. As the sun dropped down the diver rods lit up and couldn't keep them on very good. We pulled in 2 medium sized kings and pulled lines to head in a sharpen some hooks for the tournament. Sunday- Started the day south of the North nets were I wanted to go but the waves had other plans. It was tough to judge the waves in the dark and not eject you from the boat. At 5 am we shut down in 105ft and trolled south to get the lines set. We ran 2 riggers with sliders, 1 wire diver, 1 braided diver, and 2 lead core. Within a matter of the first 20 minuites and a attempted turn to north we abruptley tangled the lead into the braided diver and I don't know what else. I was busy trying to get out of 4 boats way and couldnt belive a guy shut down 250ft behind my boat in my prop wash. I could see there faces in the dark. So we locked down a south troll with no lead just the 2 riggers and 2 divers. We were at a lul for quite some time untill I saw the small front come over and I knew things were going to get interesting. We then were in 140-150 fow when the front hit us I felt a rush of wind, on top of the already high winds, and both downriggers poped and started peeling line. We hauled in twin 12lbrs and in a matter of 20 minuites had another smaller one come off NBK and killer dolphin on the rigger and then the wire diver was on fire pulling in out biggest 13lb king on a Mt.dew sd and fly combo. After all that we continued south and hit dead water. So we turn to the north and pounded our way back toward the south nets and picked up 2 more on the wire diver 200 back. To end the day we trolled toward the pier and in 95ft the braided diver finally took off 151ft back and were lucky to get this fish because the fish jumped and snapped the fly off and landed in the net:) with 8 min left in the tournament. All in all we ended the day 7 for 13 or so with multiple doubles. If we marked fish they were hitting but some just diddnt hook up very well. Had a great fun and look:) forward to fishing the last tournament!
  4. Nice meeting you Ken. Great job on the catch Sat night. Look forward to seeing you again in a few weeks. I might have to give those siggs flys a try next time out.
  5. Can I get some clarification on the rules or old rules?
  6. Where can I find updated net locations or does anyone have the coodinates? I will be out of Muskegon Saturday and Sunday.... Andy
  7. J1Musser, My boat name is UNREEL My fathers boat he keeps in South Haven: Voyageur
  8. Fun fishing on my old man's boat with the family last night. We fished from 7:30-9:30pm and went 2 for 3. We were in 100fow trolling west and my mother reeled in a nice coho 68 down on a yellow/red/green striped lure and my daughter and I reeled in a nice king on a blue bubble spindoctor/fly 80 back on the dipsey. The old mans fish finder is on the frits so I couldnt tell ya much more than this. I diddnt even bother plugging in the sub-troll either. We just had some fun eating dinner and enjoying the evening reeling in the occational fish.
  9. I hope the action is this good for tournament this weekend, I'm sure it will.
  10. Fished 6-9:30pm Started in 130fow NW out of Holland. There was a wicked current and had some trouble setting lines with major tangles with the wire diver. After everything got set we constantly had hits 120 down on the modified blue dolphin. We ended up going between 140-160fow and took 4 fish off 120 down and when the sun set we took 3 more off moonshine flounder 66 down. We had severval knock offs and tangles and a few ripps on the divers but the downriggers stole the show last night. We ended up 7 for 14-20(lost count). Everyone on the boat launch had similar success in close so it sounds like you can pick a spot, drop some lines and have a blast!
  11. Great Job Pat, and Tom. Sounds like you guys could'nt go wrong. How did those shark cannon balls work? I look forward to fishing with you guys this weekend.
  12. I am with GLF get good namebrand standard PFD's. What type of boat do you own? Many times it takes 2 adults to handle launching or docking a boat especially in windy conditions. I would also reccomend taking some boater saftey classes. These classes can teach you all you need to know for safe boating and equipment. I believe most classes are free and can give you all the information you'll need to feel safe boating. I am not sure who offers classes around your area, but if you look up the Coast Guard or the United States Power Squadron(www.usps.org) you can find a class near you.
  13. Sounds crazy, I've never fished muskegon late season. You would think that there should be fish to be had up and down the lake away from the piers and the circus...am I wrong?
  14. I use the 50# power pro. But I know guys using 20#. Another thing to check is your rod guides. If your rod guides are cheap plastic that pp will saw right through it and get burrs. And if you dont take your dipseys off when you travel it can fray the line on a bad tip. Just something to check.... The last thing you want is to donate a diver flasher rig on every trip out.
  15. Nice report, You may not be breaking the power pro you just might be pulling your knots out. Same thing happened to me last year. That power pro is strong stuff but it is also quite slippery.
  16. Suggestions: - Make them wear a life jaket - Don't go boating in rough water - Stick to inland lakes untill you feel they won't fall out of the boat - Don't drink and boat
  17. Wow, that's a great catch. Sounds like another perfect day on the water. I want a job where you guys work. I could handle those hours!
  18. I will be at the makeup event. I would very much support the saturday tournaments with the sunday blow date. This would free up a few weekends during the summer that otherwise I would need to somewhat reserve. Also for the people that are comming from way out of town this would give them a better idea if they are going to invest in a trip for the weekend or wait untill mid-day saturday to decide to come or not.
  19. I hope you know the landowner, cause I would be huntin there if I were you.
  20. GJ, 100% hook up to catch ratio.. Better than skunked. I hope the waves hold out this weekend, Its looking iffy for Saturday morning right now.
  21. Just bought a hook sharpener Tuesday, I would be interested in techniques myself .. I'm with you replacing hooks on all my tackle would break the bank. Andy
  22. I will be there. I must of missed the post or something, is Rich no longer running the league?
  23. Couple questions: Do we have to check in before the tournament? Do we receive the zip ties at the weigh in when we pay?
  24. That's what this is all about, linking up and sharing info. Every little bit helps. I know we were only 1 of 2 boats in that depth range that I saw. I heard some people on the radio in sallow water not dowing so hot and marking nothing but our screen was full. I have to tell you all my new lowrance FF is the cats @$$. I saw over 30 fish come up to my cannon balls and I did my best to entice them and after a few lure changes found what they wanted. I forgot to mention in my original post that my trolling speed was slower than normal and we picked the fish off inside turns so they liked it slooow yesterday. Lures- Craigs X-mas, Blue Machine, and Superman, NBK
