  1. Looking forward to this but I do have one question.

    How big is the trophy?

I'm going to look at my boat this weekend and need to know how much room to reserve on the dash for it.

Someone had to start it right?:lol::lol:

Lmao , I haven't had it made yet , but will post a picture of it when I do.

Hey Terry are you gonna trailer your new boat down to Southaven,or drive it down? how far on the water from Holland?

The plan is to trailer it down And get a slip for the weekend Joel .

  2. These are the rules and schedule we will play by this season. Sorry for not getting the dates out sooner.

    2015 Rules

    • If small craft advisories are in effect we, will not fish.

    • I would like to encourage reports posted from teams after the events.

    6. Money is due at weigh-in. Gentleman's honor to pay. Please pay if you are signed up. If you are having issues please contact me before 9am. So that I know not to look for you at the scale. If no contact is made you are expected to pay your entry.

    7. Start out of the same port as the weigh in.

    8. If two members are fishing together, than the boat they are fishing out of gets the point.

    9. Follow all other State and Federal Laws. The captain is responsible for his crew. Keep it safe.

    10. Blow date will be the following day.

    11. No charter Capt. and or current first mates.

    12. You do NOT need to fish all events to partake in this league.

    13. There will be a trophy awarded as "Points Champion" at the last event to the team that has the highest, 3 accumulative scores no matter how many events are fish , So the more events you fish the better chance you have.

    2015 Schedule

May 2 South Haven - Blow Date may 3

May 23 South Haven - Blow Date May 24

June 20 Holland - Blow Date June 21

July 11 South Haven - Blow Date July 12

August 8 Holland - Blow Date August 9

August 29 Holland - Blow Date August 30

With all this said I look forward to seeing as many that can make these, it would be great to see 20-25 boats in each event.

Also this year we have some great sponcers that are doing a great job of donating to this league, and they are as follows so far.

    1. Big Weenie Brand
    2. Silver Streak
    3. Big Pappa Sport Fishing Products
    4. Fish Hawk
    5. Pyle's Port Hole
    6. Lake Shore Tackle And Fire Arms
    7. Big Lake Lures LLC.

There is a couple others that I have calls out to that Im waiting of responses from also.

  3. Ok, as some of you may have noticed there have been a few things removed from this thread, Ive heard both sides of the issue with rule number 11. And understand both side very well. But the rules have been set in place for this season and we will vote on this as a change for next year. If there are any other issues regarding rule number 11 please voice them thru privet message.

  4. Terry I don't believe working around big tournament schedules is supper important to the league (if that changes any thing).

How many of the league guys fish big tournaments?

Is May 16th in South Haven a choice?

I like August 29th better than September 12th.

Ken , the only big ones I was trying to steer around was the big red and the one in South Haven, most of the others were ones ran by eather the Holland or South Haven Steelheaders. I help with all of the Holland Steelheaders events.

The only other options for May would be to move eather one to April 15. Or doing the 9th and the 30th , if we go that route they we will be doing one on Mother's Day weekend, and if it's the 23rd it's on memorial day weekend.

  5. Man this was a trick but hear is what I came up with, I tried not to get the dates to close to each other and not on holiday weekends.

    1. May 2 South Haven
    2. May 23 South Haven
    3. June 20 Holland
    4. July 11 South Haven
    5. August 8 Holland
    6. This is the big question, would you like August 29 or September 12 ?

In the event of bad weather the blow dates will be the following Sunday.

The last date for Holland will be determined by your input.:)

  6. Ok, as I try to figure out a schedule with all the other tournaments going on and peek fishing times for both port Im brought to this question.

OPTION 1: Do we have all 3 schedule for South Haven from late April to mid June , and the last three in Holland from early July to early September. Spaced so there's one every month in Holland.

And 2 in south haven in May and 1 in June. This was I was thinking of.

OPTION 2: Or, do the first 2 in late April or late May, go to Holland for June, back to South haven for July and them finish with the last 2 in Holland, This was a thought by one of the new local sponcers for this season.

Please respond with option 1 or 2.:)

  7. I know the Fish Sniffer and my self will be In burch run that weekend for the flint area Steelheaders anual Boat, Sportfishing and Travel show , sorry I was hoping to make this but it's not possable.

  8. Just to be clear lakers are still good for weight, just no additional points correct?

Yes that is correct. A 18lb laker would be equal to a 8lb fish of any other species.

Awh man, no capt's or first mates?

Nick this is correct, there were few people that expressed a concern that made a valid point. Remember, this is a fun tourney to meet new people, not to cash a check.

I like the way you have it Terry.

Jake has already sad no to Jim for mating this year, so he should be alright yes?

    Blow dates don't bother me.

Would it would make sense to have the first event in the warmer waters of South Haven?

Yes Jake is fine as long as he is not mating this season.

  9. Ok after reading thru all the input , and thanks to all that did, this is what I came up with. As you have noticed I did not change the blow date statement, I think to make this some what fair to some , this should be placed back in. And be the following Sunday, If I don't hear any controversy on that I will add it to the Schedule and remove the no blow date in the rules.

This is going to be a multi port league with it being Holland and South Haven. "Look for date schedule in a few weeks". We will fish 3 dates out of each port and there will be a trophy awarded to the season points champion. The season points champ will be the team with the best three scores at the end of the season regardless of port fished. That being said , the more of these you fish the better chance you have.

Ok if there any issues lets hear them.:)

  10. Hey guys! Just saw this. Things have been a little busy for me. Started building our new house in Midland in October that will hopefully be done by the end of the month. My daughter Hadley was born in November and Parker will be 4 in a couple weeks.

I planned on fishing these events last year and ended up making none. I will try to make a few this year no matter what the rules are. But I did learn a few things while I ran it so I'll throw out my $.02.

First, I agree with what Tom says. The big thing is to try and keep it fun. No matter what you do people won't be happy. I say set it up how you want Terry. Don't try to please everyone. I like the different points per species and weighing a 1 man DNR limit. As far as start time and place, I don't think it matters. With something like this that relies so much on the honor system people who want to cheat will find a way. Everyone else will play by whatever rules you set up.

I like the different ports and throwing South Haven in is a great idea. I can drink beer on a boat anywhere and it's good to have an excuse to go different places. People who are going to fish different ports will do it. Those who don't want to will find an excuse not to. When I moved it from Pt. Sheldon to Holland I had multiple people tell me they wouldn't fish it because it was too far. And I was the one trailering 100 miles in each direction!

There are advantages and disadvantages for each kind of boat when it comes to things like this. I might be more comfortable in 3' rollers but the guy in the 16' aluminum boat can jump up on the beach between the 2nd and 3rd sandbars and fly to where they want to go. I've been the benefactor in each case and it all evens out.

So my advice would be to do whatever you think will be the most fun. People who value the same things as you will show up and have a good time. Those who don't won't be there. Either way I know you'll do a good job.

And I hope you feel better soon!

Thanks for the words of wisdom Nick , greatly appreciated.:)
