  1. Thanks guys! Really appreciate it. All the fishing I've done on my own boats has been up at Drummond Island. Lots of reefs and structure. This is a new boat to me. Trying to get it all rigged up and make sure its running well before the 17th. It's been 4 years since I've been out Salmon fishing. I can't wait to get back to it. Look forward to meeting you all in person.
  2. Yeah, sure will. I may need to pick some of your brains before the event if that is cool. I have never fished out of Holland.
  3. thanks Bluedevil, those look perfect for what I need to do!
  4. gonna try it. first time salmon fishing out of my boat on lake mich.
  5. Seacat, those look good and I considered them. The problem is I need to run the cable through two aluminum plates about an inch and a half apart, So I would need 2 for each cable to protect it from the sharp edges. One on each plate.
  6. thanks grant. I was planning on running it through a thru hull fitting because the place I want to run it through the transom has two walls of aluminum. I'm in the process of sanding out said fitting so it will go through.
  7. Is there a way to get the screw ring off the plug without ruining it so I don't have to drill a 3/4" hole in my boat for a 3/8" plug??
  8. Awesome that you found the power to forgive the guy that skipped out on his duty. Never good to let things you can't control rent space in your head.
  9. when you take them out try and be careful with them, especially towards the helm so that you can trace the pattern. The wood should be good up there and in less good shape by the transom. By the transom and going forward it will be of uniform height, but towards the helm it will start to taper with the curve of the hull and keeping them intact will save you some scribing time. This applies to all bulkheads too. You will find them on either side of your gas tank and at the helm where the cuddy begins. Not sure if there is one more on the 245 or not, but its nice to have the templates for rebuilding.
  10. BTW, if you start a thread at Iboats in the boat restoration section, you'll get tons of help from people that live and breath tearing down boats and rebuilding them. They are very knowledgeable and willing to share.
  11. On my 206 they were a true 1" Marine Ply wrapped in glass.
  12. Here we are all trying to get 8, 10, 12+ rods in the water with all different types of baits, delivery methods and presentations. Complex reels, lines, wire, copper, braid, etc. Every time I watch the west coast guys on WFN fishing for salmon its the same. Two riggers, 2 flasher flys, 2 mooching reels on 2 rods. They must find our methods entertaining.
  13. These items are SOLD, except for the eagle feet and board. If anyone is interested in those please pm me with offer. Sending PM to close thread. Thank you!
  14. It depends on the fishery. Once people learned about it and the fishing was good there could be 150 boats on the water. After the baitfish crash in Lake Huron and a reduction in plants on the St. Mary's River, there are not many any more.
  15. Thanks again for all the welcomes! Just hook'n: Drummond Island is a beautiful place to fish Salmon. I remember back in the late 80's what an awesome fishery we had there and most times, there would only be a half dozen or so boats fishing it.
  16. Hey Ed. That's in the DeTour Passage up at Drummond Island. They run a pretty tight course through there, so when you are fishing along the reef you know their bearing and they don't change it. Also the beauty of the zoom lens and better cameras out these days. As far as the cable, tinned copper looks just like it sounds. When I search marine battery cable it comes up mostly as the tinned stuff. And I don't have the extra money if I don't need it, lol. Rigging a boat is expensive and the admiral is running out of budgetary patience!
  17. I'm moving my batteries from the back of the boat to mid ships, mostly in a move to transfer some weight after installing my 4 stroke kicker. My question. For a trailer boat, stored inside and used in only fresh water do i need to spend all the extra money for tinned battery cables or can I use marine awg copper.
  18. Jay, I sent you back a pm with a link. Glad I could help!
  19. Ok. So do you bury the hook and pin the leader end some how? Thanks, guys!
  20. How do you guys store all those flys?
