  1. ^^ What they said. I picked up 1 in April that did not make it until May. They did send a replacement, hassle free. Hopefully you won't get one of the first shipments out of the factory.
  2. What kind of boat are you wanting to launch? Plenty of glass boats 22' to 26' launch there daily. Stay somewhat in the middle favoring the south side until you get into the pigeon lake.
  3. Not very... 3 kings, one decent 12-14lbs and the others 8-9lbs 3 nice steelhead 2 average coho We were a little north of the stacks all morning. The night before went 4-6. best water was 150ish.
  4. 8 for 10 Fished 85-160 with 110-130 being best. 7 color with orange killer took 4 Rigger down 38 blue chili willy 5 color stellie stomper ss 225 copper rv blue flounder Rigger down 50, slider lemon ice All but 1 came on E/W troll
  5. Sounds like a good plan. I was getting excited about the water finally setting up and the good reports coming in though. You're definitely more optimistic than me about the 20 degree temp change over night (in July). Let's hope you're right!
  6. The Courtesy Motel on the corner of 31 and M-45 is the only motel I can think of. Honestly, for an out of towner I would recommend Grand Haven or Holland (even though I prefer to fish out of Pt. Sheldon). Much better places to stay. Even if you stayed closer to those 2 areas and were dead set on fishing Pt. Sheldon you can be at the launch in 20 minutes.
  7. Here is reel fill calculator that I use often. http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16491
  8. Reading all these reports I find myself wondering something that I have never had to think about before... Where the hell am I going to launch this year?!?!?
  9. Pigeon is open. Saw a boat in between the pier heads today.
  10. I bought an RV "hot lips" early last year on a recommendation by a guy at the tackle store. When he was ringing me up, I was thinking "am I really going to buy this stupid looking thing"? It pretty much never left the end of my 300' copper after it's first trip. It caught a lot of fish.
  11. I always run 20# on the riggers with big paddles. I do like to have either 30# mono or 40-50# flouro between the paddle and fly. Never had any issues.
  12. Fished out of Port Sheldon today in 75-100 feet. I would call the waves today a real sloppy 2 foot chop with an occasional 3 (maybe) mixed in. I don't think it was the wave height that had you "white knuckled", it's more of those 2 footers that are about a millimeter apart from each other that makes the lake uncomfortable. If I was in your boat this morning, I would not have complained when you turned back to port.
  13. I do the same. Green on one side, clear on the other. I wouldn't care if you gave me orange, blue or black as long as I know which color goes out which side.
  14. A cold push of water in early August will usually just scatter the fish. Good for pier fisherman as there will be a few fish in tight but a lot of the fish will just follow the warm water out past 200+. Makes for some slow days, as looking at the reports on the forums confirms.
  15. My dad sprays the repellant made for horses.. He thinks it might help a little. I am convinced however, they have no weakness.
  16. Thanks Erik, listen all the time.
  17. Ha, good thing I googled "reel hot sauce" before I went in the fridge for a reel fix. Will try that though, thanks.
  18. Hmmm, I did actually try that with no luck. I do not remember however, if I tried that on the Clarion though. I will make sure to do so.
  19. I'm having a little trouble with tight drags on a couple of reels on my copper set ups. One is a CV55, the other is a 55 Clarion. I have to pretty much open the drag all the way up to "sometimes" get them to creak out. I am dragging fish after fish on these 2 set-ups. the CV55 is about a year old and the Clarion was purchased this winter. Any tips/tricks to get the drags to loosen up a bit? My other Convectors that are spooled up with lead have never had this problem.
  20. Looking for 1 or 2 back to back lounge seats. Does not matter what color they are, and they don't need to be in newer or great condition.
  21. They matter to me. Only because green goes out the port side and chrome goes out the starboard side. Not a good feeling when you realize that someone put out 185 feet of line on the #3 setting set-up on the wrong side of the boat. I wouldn't care what color you gave me as long as everyone knows which color goes out what side.
