  1. Finally took a deer with my muzzleloader in MI on 12/14. We had about 4 inches on the ground. Tracking in snow provides a good reminder on how much sign we miss when the ground is bare. Something like this. Hmm, having problem inserting my pic I love to hunt when the storm is coming in. See many deer then and yes, I also believe that you can pick up more movement with snow cover.
  2. Glad to hear he is OK. Kids can get into the damnedest places when they have a mind to.
  3. It has been many moons since I have done any engine rebuilding and most of that was with Fords. I did a Olds 350 once. These all were done in the late 70's-early 80's. My recollection is that the heads on those engines were specific to the carb. Now I understand why people liked working with Chevy....
  4. Or would you be suggesting he go all in and replace the heads too?
  5. What gains would you think might be possible considering the heads are 2 barrel size?
  6. HAHAHHAHA! In a rubber zodiack type boat.....Looked like the bladder ruptured due to the blast. Would be nice to see these two get up and look at each other!!! "What happened Stan?? Don't know Ollie, but that went off quick!"
  7. The admiral was skeptical when I told her I ordered one. We averaged more fish per trip this year than any other year. Now, if I don't get the probe in first, I get yelled at: "I can't get the speed dialed in if you don't have the probe down yet!" Women!!
  8. Then I guess that tribe should stay silent on any project(s) that may "pollute" the local watershed.
  9. Or the guy who sits tied at the dock and puts away all his gear, checks the motor 3-4 time to ensure it is up, the trolling motor is locked down and then takes a leisurely stoll up to the bathroom for an equally leisurely time in there and then can't back his truck down because he can't see over the tail gate. Not bright enough to get out and open the gate. A buddy who could not direct a line of 3 year olds on their tricycles let alone help anyone back down. The BEST part??? About 8-9 boats making circles with an approaching lightning storm!! On a launch that can handle 3 boats at one time. Had 2 boats recover in front of me and I still beat this jackwagon out of the launch area.
  10. Unless you're leaving them on the floor, taking out a gill is no slower than giving a head whack. My ride is not big enough to leave fish on the floor.
  11. I've set mine in as shallow as 70 feet. Don't do it all the time-much prefer 80 and over for the reasons you state. We've learned to speed up the boat a bit when in relatively shallow water to the dive depth of any longline. Or let it back a lot slower than you do now. Pick the method that keeps the most of your baits in the correct speed range for the longest time while minimizing any chance of a tangle if you hook up while deploying a long line. Had it happen twice-it can be ugly!
  12. Really don't think you can get that from a locator. Which side of the boat yes, direction of travel for the fish, probably not.
  13. Longest it stays on our shelf is 2 years-mainly cause it gets gobbled up. Only a jar that gets "lost" sees more than a year.
  14. The wife cuts hers in 1 inch cubes and "brines" them for about an hour in a pan with some salt water. Sherman's pressure and time sounds about right. You can also put some ketchup on top to make the meat stay "red". Use only 1/2 and pint jars. Some protiens do not can well in qts. You can also can LIGHTLY smoked fish. Maybe 15-30 minutes in the smoker. Pressure canning will intensify the smoke flavor so trend lightly until you get a smoke level you like.
  15. I've known people to use a version of that. It works for some people and not for others-at least at the recommended dosage. The generic version does cause sleepiness.
  16. Ya know, it's one thing to lose the gas cap but gear on top of it?? Haven't lost anything yet..knock on wood (my head)
  17. Anyone have a guess besides a length plus girth wt estimator?
  18. Mittens.......strings...... Sorry Dave, that's funny stuff. Oh, wait, crap like that happens to me too.
  19. Sherman, so sorry for your loss. My families prayers go out to you and your family.
  20. For the speeds listed, is that SOG or at the ball?
  21. Your county Ag office should have them. There is a web site called Terra Fly where you can use "real time" sat photos. I think there is a feature where you can get a water marked sample photo. You are limited to the time you can "fly" so having the coordinates of what you want to see is beneficial.
  22. At times, name brand and "after market" are really one and the same-just packaged and targeted to a different niche in the market place.
  23. Maybe we're just catching the females that have style?? LOL
  24. No idea for sure why that is. Down deep certain color wavelenghts fade out but why it is appealing to fish?? You got me.
